Need Help Getting Digital SLR As Present

Hi there everyone. I have some issues here and I'd like you gurus to enlighten me.
You see, I'm getting a decent dslr for my sis as a present. She is going to start her designing course with photography as her minor next year. Would like to get her a set of dslr to help her with her journey. Thing is, my knowledge is limited to compact digital cameras and I'm pretty much useless when it comes to these kinds (dslr) of cameras.

I wouldn't wanna ask my sis what brands and models she prefers because it will spoil the surprise.. So I hope that I could get some help here.
After much surveying, there's a few models that I could get in stores here in Western Australia (and of course, which suits my budget):

01. Canon EOS 1000D Twin Lens Kit (EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II and the EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 III) - $1073, around RM2500
02. Canon EOS 1000D Twin IS Kit (18-55IS & 55-250IS) - $1214, around RM2970
03. Canon EOS 450D Twin Lens Kit - $1299, around RM3180
04. Canon EOS 450D Twin IS Kit - $1419, around RM3470
04. Nikon D60 Twin Lens Kit (18-55VR & 55-200VR) - $1077, around RM2630

Sorry if I don't have adequate information, as I don't even know what those numbers are myself.
I have two options, to get from here (Australia), or to get it from KL (going back next month). Also, do feel free to provide more information and also recommendations.

Thanks for reading this long "essay".
Cheers.

HELP! maggot infested wound

Well, the case is like this.. few days ago during raya, some of the naughty neighbors played with fireworks and that really scare the hell out of Spikey, my adult golden retriever. He went hyper/scared upon hearing those big bang boom and i suspect that he stepped on a branch or something sharp when he was jumping and barking.

After that, i realized that he's walking with one of it's hind leg lifted up. Upon inspecting it, i saw a lot of blood and a hole on the base of this paw. Immediately i brought him to the vet. There's the veterinarian inspected the wound, wash and sterilized it. She said that there's no foreign object inside and no maggot infestation. So she gave me some pills, gauze, syringe and iodine solution to wash the wound. That night, i kept Spikey in the house cos i dun want him to step on sand or dirty surface cos it might lead to bacteria infestation.

The next morning when i went to change his dressings, there were a lot of maggots there.. i took them out and counted... 15 of them, hiding nicely inside his wound. After picking them out and washing the wound with iodine, i wrapped it up with fresh gauze and after 10 hours when i went to change the gauze again, i pulled out another 5 maggots.

Anybody can tell me what to do with the wound? Need some advice.
