external hard disk enquiries

i just bought a new external hard disk, the capacity is 1TB

im now hesitate whether i need to separate into partition or not,
can anyone tell me what is the pros and cons for partition the hard disk?

and by default the hard disk is formatted by file system FAT32, this cause file size which larger than 4GB cannot be transfer,
is it i need to reformat it by using file system NTFS in order to solve this large file size transfer problem?

laptop USB ports problem

when i plug in my pen drive, there is a message prompt out "this device can perform faster",
then whatever i transfer from hard disk to pen driver in or out, the transfer speed just about 100KB/sec,
normally the speed should be around 40MB/sec...

i just format my laptop but without install any drivers,so is it cause the USB transfer rate slow?
if so, anyone can provide me the link to download all of the drivers? for window vista...thanks

guys, please teach me how to format fujitsu laptop P5010 step by step,
im confusing on what should i start now,is it install the window xp first?
then follow by the drivers, i found the drivers over the fujitsu's site at http://www.pc-ap.fujitsu.com/support/drv_lb_p5010.html,
but i don know which drivers is needed since there are so many drivers can be download.

im not sure whether my DVD ROM spoil already or not,
it just sometime can play and sometime not,
after i open up "my computer", the DVD ROM's driver didnt show up, which is 'E' drive as usual.
when i insert any DVD inside, it did not show any respond and no auto run.
is it cause by other software or missing file from my laptop?
any expect pls guide me a way to check my DVD ROM condition.thanks

i plan to upgrade my RAM, what is the price for DDR2 667(PC5300) RAM for 1GB and above?? any brand will do...
