I think it's depending on the various states in Malaysia. Penang can be considered as 1Malaysia but not Selangor or KL, why lah?

REMITTANCE of FUNDS overseas - BNM rules & process

I understand that only approved remittance service providers who are authorised to remit (send) monies/funds overseas on behalf of members of the public, must be approved by Bank Negara, like banks and these banks usually monitors the purpose of the remittance. This I am aware because I usually send funds to USA.

However I was told that Bank Negara (or even the banks) nowadays actually perform checks on every foreign remittance and if someone is found to be blacklisted or even a bankrupt here in Malaysia, BNM will withhold the payment, and you will get a hell of a problem getting the funds back. Is this true? Is there actually a limit in which BNM will monitor?

Hi everyone,
I am a Malaysian not working or residing in Singapore, however I would like to open a non-resident bank account with any bank in Singapore to hold funds for my frequent cancer medical treatment in Singapore. Therefore, before I do travel to Singapore to open the said bank account, I would greatly appreciate if anyone could advise, clarify and confirm on the following questions:-
1) What type of bank saving accounts presently available for Malaysian, non-resident & not working in Singapore?
2) What are the bank’s current policies and what documents will be needed to open a non-resident bank account, as such? Please provide in detail.
3) Which bank is the most easiest to open an account?
4) Anyone experience difficulty opening bank accounts in Singapore?
