The Truth About Affiliate Marketing

Hello and hello.

For those who have aspirations to succeed in affiliate marketing, read this first. It's the absolute truth that you will hardly find written anywhere else on the Internet.

I assume that you have read a variety of articles before, detailing what affiliate marketing is all about. I am also assuming that from your understanding, it's building a content website, building links, getting traffic, and then monetizing the traffic into sales. Or a twist is to build a subscriber list, then monetize the subscriber list.
Whatever modus operandi you choose, the final goal is to persuade buyers to buy a promoted product, and for you to earn your cut.

Sounds easy, or rather, it doesn't sound too complicated.
Hey, just install Wordpress. Get a domain name. Slap together some content. Traffic will grow and soon you'll be earning a consistent side income.
Doesn't it all sound very logical and level headed, when piece together like that..

Here's the curve ball. What will happen is this.

You spend money getting a domain.
You spend money and time and effort to build a content website.
You may even spend money getting a developer to put the site together.
You may even spend money buying some backlinks.
You may even spend some money buying ads.

You soon get 10 to 20 visitors daily to your website.
Then maybe 20 to 30 a day and eventually hitting 50 people a day.
Then you observe something that all those educational articles didn't tell you. Nobody buys the product you're trying to sell.
Monthly hosting fees are running. With everything spent, you might get 1 sale or 2 in a month (if you're lucky, and most are not).

You feel disappointed and demotivated.

Then, some of the more advance marketers would have read on building a subscriber list.
You sign up for Aweber or Mailchimp or some autoresponder system.
You start paying more monthly fees.
You start sending promotion emails.
Still no sales.

Now you have monthly hosting fees and auto responder fees but no sales. Net loss again.

More advance marketers will then read on A/B Split testing or Landing page optimization.

Maybe you'll pay for some extra service to measure changes to your page.
Perhaps you'll pay for a Wordpress plugin for split testing.
You start testing headlines, email subject lines, button colors.
You waste more time and effort with all these nonsense, just like those sites told you.
Again, no sales. More costs to pay. Net loss again.

Do you know what the problem really is ? Firstly, it's the Internet. It's full of bullshit on a wide variety of topics. It's regurgitated content. Whether on health, money making, advice, there is a whole lot of nonsense out there that does not correlate well with reality.

Secondly, it's this human habit of just attributing that something will just work, without thinking out the details at the pixel level.

Ok, let me give you an example.

Supposed in a small community in your Taman, consisting of 1,000 people, you open a neighborhood shop and sell knives.
Now, in reality, 1,000 people is the total population, not the market size of buyers wanting to buy knives in any given month.
In any given month, lets just assume that only 5 people will want to buy knives.
Because the other 995 people already have knives and have no desire and no need to buy it. So we'll assume that every month, for some reason, 5 people will develop the need to get new knives, and this is a consistent cycle.
As a result, each month, you can expect a maximum demand of 5 knives.

Regardless of how you try promoting your knives, with bigger banners, better write ups, neon signs, only 5 maximum knives can be sold that month.
This is one thing affiliate marketers totally fail to understand. They always assume, the Internet is global, and demand is infinite. Affiliate marketers always assume, they, get more traffic, then they'll sell more.
But in reality, the traffic (quality traffic), for people searching to buy knives will be limited.

Now, online affiliate marketers pick a niche product to sell, expecting to make maybe RM3k a month from that. Firstly, get real. Each month, only a tiny amount of people would be interested to buy that product. Secondly,
there will be a few more thousand sites also promoting that product. If your website can get 100 targeted people a day who are searching for very keyword specific terms and they come to your website, most likely 1 in 250 or 1 in 300 people will buy. The conversion rate is not going to be 1% or 2% like what most people say. That's regurgitated content, I on the other hand have been testing different products for years.

Honestly, consider yourself a pro already, if you could get 100 people a day, searching for very keyword specific terms for that product. I'm not referring to scattergun approach, where you get people coming to different pages on your website based on a wide variety of terms not closely related. Then they're not going to even be remotely interested in buying that product.

Now, back to your Taman with 1,000 people and 5 people will buy knives each month. Now assume out of that population, 4 people will have a need to buy pots each month, following the same concept. Hence, you as an affiliate marketers can now start promoting a second product to sell more items in total each month. Or, you could expand the market by selling to different Tamans as well. However, on the Internet, where everything is global,
we'll consider it just one big Taman with a finite monthly demand for a product, and a fluctuating number of competitors also selling those products monthly.

This leads to the real truth. To even make RM10k a month consistently, and assuming each product you promote can sell 4 items a month, with a RM100.00 commission each, you would be looking at promoting 25 different products. However as time passes, the lifespan of a product decreases (market change, no more excitement, new products come out), and you would need to top up with content promoting new products to keep your income stable.

Now, this assumes if you can even get 100 people a day, looking for each product to be able to sell 4 items a month, you would need 2500 unique visitors every day, that came to your website with highly targeted keywords, commercial intent keywords at the buying stage. We don't want customers who are looking for keywords too early in the sales funnel, they're there for research only.

And do you know how tough it is to get 2500 unique visitors a day from the search engines organic search results ?

That's why, I won't even say that 99% of affiliate marketers fail, I would say, 99.9% would fail at making a decent amount each month. I'm not including those making 1 or 2 sales a month to buy a meal, I'm saying, at least RM5k a month from just commissions.

I'm not here to discourage you, I am here to lay down the non sugar coated version of affiliate marketing.
I have been doing this for 15 years. I have been analyzing different groups of data to understand the correlation to a successful execution, I have been studying traffic generation and I have been selling all sorts of products online. When you start promoting one product, you only have a tree with a twig. It will only be a money tree as you add more and more products, build more and more content, and if you choose the products correctly. It will take years to have thousands of pages of content to build up to anything significant.

Anyway, let me know your thoughts.
Rgds,
Jerry

3 Types Of Online-Business Models: RM25,000/Month

It has taken me nearly 20 years to understand this 'chi' of online business. To listen and somewhat know what to do is one thing.
But to actually be able to get it done is entire a different story.

This may sound like the beginning of a very comprehensive post, but I'm going to maintain brevity as it's 3.40am in the morning.

Firstly, why 20 years to understand the essence of a subject ?!!! Am I that stupid ???
Answer: It took me 20 years because of experiments. The Internet is one place that is full of bull, and unless you have the curiosity, ability, resilience and not to mention the willingness to burn cash for understanding, it's not going to happen overnight. What you read online is like the bedtime stories you were told when you were young. Fun, it gives you comfort (of having some useful knowledge), but what you don't know is how much of it is truth and
how much is fiction. You have to master at least 4 different types of programming languages, be good at logical deductions, analytical in nature, an expert already at computer science which involves writing web crawlers, language processing, data scalability and a range of other 'glue' knowledge to piece together e-commerce base experiments. This excludes the business acumen needed and the curiosity of a child to want to know how things work.

In brief, it took me 20 years to sift fact away from fiction, what does work from what does not work.

The 3 Types of Online Business Models That is Earning Me at least RM25k/month.

1) Consultation / Service based
2) Large scale referral model for very large merchants
3) Niche affiliate marketing model

1) Consultation / Service Based
Pros: Good money. Larger transactions. Projects range from RM2-5k each and can already in itself earn RM20k / month.
The challenge is, if course, to get the projects. Since everyone else is offering similar services - lets face it, in this world, any type of viable business must have competition for it to become viable in the first place.
Any business that is so specialized will have just a very tiny market to tap into. So, the challenge is a business and a psychological challenge. If we assume that every other service provider is able to get the job done, then
what differentiates you ? My website, http://www.dobusinesslah.com is one example. Since launching this website only a few months back, it's getting thousands of visitors weekly and I'm getting many business inquiries on a daily basis. Only when others perceive you to be an expert on a subject will they feel inclined to contact you and to want to work with you. I have built up my knowledge on digital marketing and software development to such an extensive level that business will just flow in for me.

2) Large scale referral model for large merchants
This approach, you need to send thousands of visitors daily to one huge merchant, as an example, Amazon.com. The trick is to do it without getting caught, and look legitimate. Any company who is observing your monthly commissions grow to RM30k a month is going to scrutinize your method. This approach brings passive income, it requires extremely high technical capabilities and most non-technical users will have very little success at executing this model.

3)Niche affiliate marketing model
This approach, you need to select the right products from the right merchants before you can even begin.
There is a long checklist to determine what can work, before you even begin pouring in your time+money+work investment into this. Most people fail at this before even starting, simply because the preliminary checks were all done wrong, and they started walking in the wrong direction from the very first step. It took me years to compile a good viable checklist and among some of the facts - the product standing in it's category, the trust worthiness of the merchant, free available alternatives, the commercial intent of such products, the informational intent of such products, whether it's a product that already has traditional distribution channels, the purchase-flow of such
a business model, etc. Oh yes, and the true way of doing competitive research, search volumes ( there are tons of different ways, but only 1 or 2 method truly works well in all scenarios). Most websites, they talk about niche
marketing like a punchline. It's regurgitated info from one blogger to another without actual testing of it's viability.

With regards to any of the models above, your true understanding of the flow of Internet traffic is crucial. Does article writing work ? Does link building work ? Does social network marketing really work ?
Sure, you can get clicks here and there, but do you get sales and orders and leads ?

I'm currently working as a consultant for airlines and hotel booking industry, and the things I do daily to just get that one extra sale ... the split testing, the sales funnel analysis, user behavior monitoring, newsletter marketing, feedback analysis, etc.. IT and digital marketing is truly an exciting field, that it pays you well as a consultant and it also pays well passively when you're able to just market and sell anything from your very own home, on your very own time.

Anyway, 20 years it has been and I have loved every moment of it.
Sweet Dreams. 4.20AM
Zzzzz

Closing The Sale For Any Business

Good morning, guys.
Today, I'm going to share a long and in-depth story of how I have broken and torn apart the elusive problem of business success.
Being a geek at software since the age of 14 and having studied over 10 different programming languages, I love breaking down a problem to its individual components, just to analyze how a product, a process or even an entire system works.

I have spent countless years breaking software apart, sales and marketing, successful job applications, corporate politics, project management, affiliate marketing and even women. Yup, how they talk, how they give signals, when a No means a No, and when a No means a Yes, how by touching them in a certain way allows you to measure their response and to caliberate your next move - whether to pull back to go full swing, pun intended. How men make huge mistakes by allowing women to lead them on, not knowing how to test the waters and knowing when to cut their losses. But I will discuss this another day. Today, I want to talk about business, seeing how sad the situation is amongst those who desire to succeed but simply lacking the roadmap to follow. I didn't have a roadmap too, and I'm having a somewhat mixed feelings in sharing this information, as it would deprive you from exploring a new journey on your own. After all, experience is a harsh teacher and you'd learn best if you failed many many times on your own.

I will detail the steps in a holistic manner as this would allow me to transfer the overall understanding in whole, and not towards any
particular business context.

In the most simplistic form, for a business to succeed, you need:

1) Something good to sell
2) A market
3) The Right Selling Platform
4) Eyeballs (the attention of the market)
5) Authority / Credibility
6) Positioning and Targetting
7) A Trigger
8) Call to Action (not necessarily a call for the sale)
9) Close the sales

This applies for all types of businesess, products, and even in marketing yourself (think career growth, getting a top position).

Lets go through the steps.

1) Something good to sell
For many years, I always wondered - how do I determine if something is good to sell ?
I got the answer only 10 years later. If I paid for a product with my own money, and have been using it for 2 weeks, and still feel that
it was a damn good buy, and I would go around talking about it, recommending it others for no other reason than pure satisfaction with my
purchase - then that's a super fantastic product to sell. Your enthusiasm will show when you talk about something you truly love.
Don't ever try to sell something that you don't believe in. People will see right through you.

2) A Market
A market would be a group of people who has a need for such a service or product. They may be aware that such a product exist or may not, but
the important thing is, even if they are not aware, you must know how to reach this group of people who would be keen enough to lend you their eyeballs for a few minutes, if you reach out to them.

3) The Right Selling Platform
Just like you don't go to a clinic to buy a computer, you do not try to market health products in a web-design forum. All those spams you see
in emails, blog comments, forums, they never work, and they are purely annoyance and a waste of time. People try it anyway because they
do not know any better. You must learn to understand how an overall platform works, even facebook, twitter, pinterest, and promote your
products in a way that blends into the context of the platform. Business stuff in business groups, fun stuff in fun groups.

4) Eyeballs
No point having a great product to shout, when you are not able to have large groups of people to shout to.
Start by backtracing where the targeted group is, relevant to the product you're selling. Then figure out how to shout in a way that is
relevant to that platform and how to get their attention. Example - forums, mailing lists, classifieds, search engines, social networks.

5) Authority / Credibility
People want to be convinced that you're credible and know what you're talking about. How to build credibility ? Start writing. Start
reviewing your products. Provide usage shots. Provide photos with happy customers - the photo must be believable, perhaps a photo with
the product, with the seller, in front of the shop, etc. Your publications should erase any doubts that you're just a seller to make a
profit. Go that extra mile to make your product stand out. Hence, this brings me back to my frist point - something good to sell. If
what you're selling is crap, you will have nothing much to talk about it. You're not even going to consume it yourself, let alone having
the interest to market it to others. Would you want to spend lots of time writing to market an inferior product ? You won't, because you know
it will all be useless wants users start posting feedback and review on their platforms.

As you can see, there is a chain reaction here. The extent that you're willing to write and market a product reflects how great the product
is. Start by choosing a great product to sell, and you'll have no problem spreading the interest.

6) Positioning and Targetting
Let's say that you sell bicycles. There are high end equiptment for working adults, and they're buying to get into races, to be seen, respected, envied within their group. Then you have bicycles at the lower end of the price point, to promote to elderly people who are looking at getting a bicycle for health reasons, and safety features. By understanding your market segments, you have to prepare the
right marketing message that reasonates well with the targeted buyers. The language, video, description all need to be coherent to the
target group. How you position your product is reflective of the target market.

7) Trigger
Even after all that positioning and targeting, you need to find the right 'trigger' to get people to take that next step.
It's like, when you hear an unfair or racist language in your office, you suddenly get very angry. Just imagine that you're told that cute
dog from the pound is going to be put to sleep in the next 3 days if there is no adoption. That is a trigger that people will react on.
How about in recent news, the schoolgirl chained to a pole ? Or the government locking up a fighter for free elections ? All these are emotional triggers, same like when some people turn into maniac when they get behind the wheel. It's not about you, but the environment.
Something about the environment that makes you re-act the way you do. There is this book, "Triggers: Creating Behavior That Lasts--Becoming the Person You Want to Be" I recently bought from Kino KLCC. It details how you can change your resposne by changing the environment.
Example triggers can be used in your marketing message to evoke: fear, guilt, trust, value, belonging, competition, instant gratification, leadership, trendsetting, time, scarcity, just to name a few.

People are more likely to buy emotionally than logically. Without a good trigger, people will read your advertisement but not take action.
Wasted effort.

8) Call to Action
A call to action is a direct request to your prospect to make the next move.
For small items, you can just ask for the sale. But more complex processes require a lot more to convince the prospect to buy.
As an example, a car salesman asking a customer for their number, or a follow up test-drive.
As an example, a supermarket salesperson giving a sample to try.
You must understand, that a complete sales process is not from point A to point B.
It's from Point A -> Point B -> Point C -> Point D
Each step takes the prospect closer to the finish line.
Say point A, they visit your website. Point B, click to download a free e-book guide. Point-C is to subscribe to a mailing list that will
send out an immediate discount voucher. Point D is calling for the sales with a time limited offer - a trigger of scarcity.

9) Close the sale
Ask for the sale, keep the customer happy for upselling and cross promoting other items.

When I was doing MLM years ago, many in our group had trouble selling a weight loss product. It was expensive and of course, with all health
products, one has to buy based on trust. One of our group members was doing exceptionally well, better than the rest combined. Can you guess
why ? She owned a hair saloon, and the people frequenting her shop was already in the mindset of looking good. When she placed the products in her shop, it just sold like hot cakes, without much need to convince. In affect, her shop had already corralled a very targeted group
of people just primed to be sold to. From this point, I realized that it's 100x easier to sell to others when they approach you, instead of
you approaching them. My strategy now is to set up platforms that people are able to reach me when they are looking for a solution. I think I have the steps figured out, having referred more than RM1.2 million ringgit worth of product sales on Amazon.com and selling hundreds of watches, shampoo products and other items online. Do visit my website,
Do Business Lah
How to get project enquiries every day

Hi guys,
I have been reading this thread and some of the comments I saw was 'low season' or 'no projects', and it's a topic that I wanted to share with you about. It's a topic that is close to my heart at all times and I thought that I can perhaps provide some advice on getting business.

A bit of background, I started working on freelance web development around 2003. That was a time when very few companies offered web development services. There was no Wordpress, no VBulletin, even PHPNuke and Joomla and Drupal were all non existent at that time.

In fact, even PHP was just at its infancy. I started with Perl, C++ Cgi, then ASP before getting into PHP.

It was a period when companies were rushing to get online, and I created a business website in 3 days. It was called General Scripting.
During that period, I was receiving over 3 to 6 project enquiries daily. It was more than I could handle. The profits were quite lucrative at that time. I was getting RM1,000.00 for implementing a guestbook (yeah, guestbooks were popular then). On average, most of my projects were from the states and i was just freelancing from my room. I was getting projects worth between $800-$2500 USD each, and my payment system was 2checkout then. Paypal was not around, and I had to wait 2 months for the checks to clear from US.

Fast forward 3 years later, India came in. More and more companies around the world joined the party. From getting multiple enquiries daily, 3 years later I had no enquiries at all. I tried paying for Google Adwords then, but the cost per click kept going up. It was not profitable to pay over 6 ringgit a click, without even a guarantee of getting an order.

I quit freelancing around 2006 and worked for over 15 different companies then.
Despite taking a break from freelancing for 6 years, my mind never left the topic. It kept wandering back to that period whereby I could take home around 20k a month, and I was just around 23 then. Even in today's job market, it's not easy to take home that amount, even as a high level manager.

Then I realise that that was the natural way of things. Basic economics. Situation starts with demand exceeding supply and supply gradually building up to meet demand. You look around people selling clothes, food, shoes, they are all making ordinary profits. The extraordinary profits is possible only if you are an early entrant into a rising industry, make your share and eventually the profits shrink as competition comes in.

What you guys are experiencing now and in the last few years is healthy economics, at least from the consumers point of view.

However, the title of my post is how to get project enquiries every day, and I should add - in a competitive environment.

The answer is simple. You simply need to:

1) Outmarket the competition
2) Be perceived as being better

The reason we can still make more than the average income in web development is, if we provide our services to American customers. We need to benefit from the exchange rate of 4.0. So a few projects a month that costs $5000 USD is already RM20,000 here. This is enough for an individual, not a company. For a company, well, you do the math.

All you need to do in a month is to get 2-3 projects and you've got a workable deal.

Now, the million dollar question is, of course, how do I get that few projects in an extremely competitive environment ?

Simple, by getting 4-6 thousand unique visitors daily, searching for web developers.
The Internet is such that to convert just a few customers, you need thousands of visitors.
If you read online, they say that a normal conversion rate is 1% or 0.5% ... In my experience testing across so many different products and services, the conversion rate is more like 0.0002 or 1 out of every 5000. That's why most of you guys are not too successful, simply because your visibility is so low, and that the conversion rate is pretty lousy.

Interesting Info ?
Now, the next question of course, is how to get 4-6 thousand unique visitors daily ?
Take a deep breath...

This is how you get it. Throw out around 50 websites (unique .com domain names)
Fill each website with thousands of pages of content on your keyword topics - web development, php freelancer, creative agency, etc. Then go country specific. Then go service specific, niche.
Have a mechanism to detect if visitor is an agent or bot, and if it's a visitor, you redirect to your business website.
With each website collecting over 50 visitors a day, perhaps you can get around 2500 unique visitors daily.
I have implemented such a technique successfully for the last 4 years, and the combine traffic for all my business ventures exceed 20,000 unique visitors daily.

This includes not just my business website, but affiliate marketing and other services.
I have referred over 1 million ringgit worth of product sales as an affiliate marketer for Amazon.
I have sold thousands of watches for linkshare.
I have sold hairloss shampoos, books and other stuff online month after month.

Anyway, my website: http://www.awebarchitect.com provides more info on what I do as a web architect.

Here's wishing you the best in your web development ventures. Let me know if you have any questions.

Rgds,
YC

Best Web Image Gallery in the World-from Malaysia

Hi guys,
A while back, I decided to launch the absolute best HTML+Javascript Image Gallery software on the Internet.

My product is called Caption Slider Pro

Caption Slider Pro

It took me over a month to developed that script from scratch, without using any libraries such as jquery or any animation library.

After searching the Internet for the perfect Image Gallery script and couldn't find it, I decided to just create one of my own.
In my mind, it's the best one out there because I have not found something better.

Your comments ? If you find something which you feel is better, please please please let me know.

For those of you who may want to buy a copy for your website, message me privately.

I really look forward to your comments,

Have a nice day.
YC

The Real Way to Make Money on The Web

Many Malaysians are trying really hard to make money online, offline either via

1) Website
2) Mutual Funds / Insurance / Commissions
3) MLM
4) Product Sales

Success depends on
1) Demand (consumers)
2) Supply (competitors)

And Demand & Supply Depends on

1) Economy ( spending power )
2) Availability of Competing products or services ( that may enter and exit the economy at any time )
3) Market awareness / advertising

And the Economy, Competition, Market Awareness all depends on

TIMING

In short, whatever business venture, online or offline, everything depends on timing.
To do a breakdown of the factors involves research, and research involves money, which would affect profits.
Even then, too many variables that research is always an estimate, may be far from accurate.

Hence, the feeling of being in control of a business by a manager or ceo, is just an illusion.
They can't even guess accurately what their wives will be preparing for dinner, which is mere hours away, what more about the success of a business that will take years to execute, and the dynamics of the forces beyond control ?

All they can do, is to work the best of their ability within the unpredictable environment, and sometimes, the best execution may still not turn a business around. Accept that.

Same on the web - no one can predict demand, supply, competitors, economy, consumer sentiments...

There is only one real approach so such a statistical problem... , which is to take a statistical solution..

Instead of aiming for that one chance to succeed, that one business model, or that one product to bet everything on, you can instead:

1) Develop a model that allows you to retry and retry
2) Go full tilt on the attempts that show promise of success based on sales indicators
3) Dump the ones that shows no positive result

Calculate the statistics that if one out of every X failures is enough to be profitable, and for every X attempts, the odds of a success is almost certain, then do a rinse and repeat system ...

Run 5 businesses, keep 1 or 2 that succeeds, shutter 3, then start another 5, and quickly observe the indicators to decide which is gold to keep and trash the rest..

These sort of statistical approach will guarantee you a success ...

Your only concern now is to find out what would allow you to work this sort of scenario, that you can be cost efficient enough to fail 4 out of 5 attempts, and still succeed.

Hope this has helped some of you..
Cheers,
Yam Chuan

Of Getting High Traffic and Affiliate Marketing

Greetings!

My name is Yam Chuan, I'm from Petaling Jaya.
I am an IT Professional, Solutions Architect, Consultant, Web Developer, Online Entrepreneur, Affiliate Marketer with over 15 years of dirt, mud and grime, hands-on person in my field.
I have worked for companies such as Air Asia, Iproperty, Royal Selangor, Mudah, DiGi to name a few.
I am great at coding, communication, strategy and online business (among other things - but this is most relevant here)

Some of my websites:

http://www.wow-resume.com/
http://www.wow-portfolio.com/
http://www.watchreviewmag.com/
http://www.weeyamchuan.com/

I have referred over 1 million ringgit of retail item sales for Amazon.com in 2013, hitting over 100 online sales daily.
I have sold hundreds of copies of self written software in the year 2000.
I have also earned over a few hundred thousand ringgit purely from the Internet between 2000 and 2005.

Ok, enough of the background. Bottom line is, not all of my ventures were successful.
Here, I want to discuss some of them which has failed and why they failed.

For anyone here who wants to even do any sort of business online OR utilize the online medium for advertising such as:

- Health Products - Weight Loss, Hair Loss
- Property - Property Marketing
- Insurance
- Web Design
- Writing Services
- Tuition

your core requirement is relevant traffic. relevant traffic, and more relevant traffic.
I cannot stress this enough. The website development and content itself would just be 2% of the work needed.
You start a tuition website ... and there are 3000 other websites also offering tuition...
You try to sell cheap thumb drives, and u see thousands others doing the same.
You try to sell some clothes, and there are tons of competition..

Competition is healthy for the consumer, but for the businessmen, it's downright sickening.

One of the things that took me 10 years to learn, is how to get traffic. Not buying traffic, not campaign traffic, but traffic that is perpetual and directly from search engines.
You don't want a traffic tap that costs you tons of money to turn on for a while, that would be a gamble if your business could even cover the advertising costs.
What you want, is like a river of water that keeps flowing.
You don't want to take 6 months to build traffic, neither do you want to wait for a year to slowly build links, forum posts, etc. By the time you are done with that, your business opportunity may have gone cold.
What I have learned to acquire is, to get top grade traffic for any topic, within 2 weeks.

As an example, if you want to get online leads from those looking to buy insurance, I can guarantee to get 50 or 100, or 300 or any number of visitors to your website, on a daily basis.
It took me 10 years to learn how to do this - and it has nothing to do with SEO. It's too technical for me to explain how this can be accomplished as it involves deep level coding, building a vocabulary database and artificially rewriting and injecting content and other techniques that feed into the search engine's greed for information.

Now, the general understanding is that, once you can get tons of traffic to a reasonably pleasing website, your job is almost done, right ?
This is far from the truth.

For affiliate marketers, and business starters, please note - this is a risk factor here.

Not any product or service will sell , as compelling as it feels. And the reasons are varied.

One example - You try to promote and sell a book on weight loss. I have sent thousands of targeted visitors, and ended up not selling a single copy.
I also tried channeling the traffic to a weight loss product - green coffee bean extract, and also ended up with zero sales.

A positive outcome - I sold some software service, and I had few sales a month.
I also sold some copies of resume writing books, and how to land with better jobs.
Products on Amazon sell, but the same products from other online retailers barely sells ? Trust factor ?

Now, honestly, looking at the random outcome of things, how can we know what will sell ?
Can you imagine, building a website, building traffic, spending on domains, websites, promotion, - all to end up with zero product sales ?

Should you be an affiliate to hotel bookings ?
Should you try to sell your web development services online ? Competing with tons of Indian programmers that charges 1/10th of your barely-legal pricing.

Even up to this point, I myself are unable to guarantee what products will be sell and what will not. There are simply too many factors and unknown for me to be certain.
But with the in-depth knowledge and ability to just bring traffic to any topic, I can give myself and you the fighting chance, from an almost non-existent one.

So guys and gals, if you want to learn from my depth of experience in the field of traffic building and affiliate marketing , do drop me a line. 019-6349-485.
Buy me lunch or a good dinner. We can talk over coffee, and I will share more experience and first hand knowledge than you can find in any book in this world.

Cheers!
Yam Chuan

Lets Be Frank - Hard to Find a Job

There are only so few reasons why you find it difficult to get a job

1) Your skills are not specialized, and there are thousands of others with exactly the same skillset, all looking for a job
2) Your salary expectations are off the scale - You are asking way higher than the average in your field or position
3) Your Industry is Dying - Your skills are obsolete
4) You are old - a lot younger people are competing for your job position, and asking a lot less
5) The job has a preference for youth - front liners, and you have passed that eligibility age
6) There is a freakin recession and generally the entire economy is laying off people

Life is a really tough battleground... for those who have jobs and become too complacent with the present comfort... , you will eventually be dislodged from your seat by some of the reasons above

Actually, even for those holding on to their jobs, the work-life situation is dire...
You get overworked, finger pointed, humiliated, wrongly accused, treated with disrespect, overshadowed ...

All the problems that weigh heavily on the employed, there is really little joy going from unemployed to employed... although it addresses the bare necessities ..

I guess there really is one ultimate solution (besides committing suicide ) to address both problems - of employment, and unemployment
and that is to be running your own business...

Easier said than done , which is what most of you will be saying .. which you are by no means wrong

However, being a winner always require these characteristics

1) You have to be smart ( note that I am not referring to any academic paper qualifications here )

Smart means, able to observe the environment and react accordingly to your benefit....
You have to be able to know what are the possibilities for your next move, and sort them to which to prioritize

I will give you an example:

I am now jobless. I have stuff to pay for. I have tried applying for jobs, but no results.

What normal people do:

Send in existing resume to jobstreet,
Send in existing resume to paper advertisements,
Send in existing resume to headhunters..

What a smart person will do:

Understand what each job requirement is really asking for, by understanding the company business..

Customize each of your resume to fit that expectation
Don't include stuff that will give them doubts..
Just add fuel to the fire..
Make sure to print your cv on a different type of paper (to stand out)
Send your cv via a better quality envelop (to stand out)

or Hand Deliver your application, dress smartly.
Be sure to talk to the HR manager if possible, and be remembered.
Do a follow up call, try to arrange an interview..

2) Get friends to recommend you for positions in their company
If it comes down to it, offer them some incentive if they can get you in

3) Soup up your Resume, to make sure it looks different from the rest ... attach charts, graphs, stuff that will give a wow factor

If possible, try calling to speak to the Hiring Manager, and ask to come by to deliver.
It creates a stronger impression, then do follow up calls

If you are desperate, you cannot do the easy stuff, what everyone else is doing. It's just a waste of time.

If all that fails, work on some quick business ideas for quick income.
Forget about building a website, marketing, etc. It's just too lengthy.
Use existing popular websites - Mudah, Lelong..
Do bogus posting, see what sort of items and what sort of prices evokes a buyer response...
Then go out, source for such products cheaper than the market asking price..
Open a store, be a specialist in your area to be recognize as a specialist in your field..

Also, lower all commitments immediately
- Cut off non essential bills, services..., you need to conserve as much money as possible

Have a car ? Sign up for Uber Malaysia. They are taking in drivers, freelance.

Life is really tough... never get complacent, even if your situation is 'ok' for now..

My 15 years experience of making money online

I am about to share my 15 years of experience of making money online.
Take a deep breath, because there is going to be a lot to swallow. Imagine 15 years of knowledge, summarized into a single post.
All that accumulated knowledge, exposed in one singularity of truth.
I promise one thing here: This is not a sales pitch. I am selling you nothing. I am promoting nothing here. Just enlightening you guys with tacit / unwritten knowledge ..

Where do I even start...

99% of you guys who attempt to make money online for the first time will fail.
The 1% who actually managed to make some money online, 95% of this 1% won't make anything significant to be proud off.

Making 10 cents or $20usd a month from Adsense is also money, but why would I even care to consider that as money...
In my terms, I am referring to profit, at least RM10,000 a month. Else, lets not waste time thinking it's a serious business...

Lets talk about blogging first
---------------------------------
Everyone talks about blogging. Start a blog. Get traffic. Make Money.
That's really too damn oversimplified, if you ask me. That's useless non-actionable knowledge.
It's nice to hear, nice to talk at parties and social gatherings, but that advice contains no substance.
It's the kind of talk that entrepreneurs wannabe will boast, or those who wants to be seen to possess some mysterious knowledge, but have never achieved success with the idea themselves.
Now, if I throw out 20 coins at random, it is possible that 19 lands on tails, and 1 on its heads. The thing about chances are, some things will just happen for some unknown reason, too complex to understand.
This is to say that there may be a very tiny number of bloggers that really can make money, simply out of luck, that they never planned it, or have never really thought the process through, but out of sheer chance, managed to hit the right nails on their first go.

Here I will break down to you, why almost all bloggers will fail to make money.

For sales to happen, a certain cause effect sequence of events have to happen. It's very systematic. Sales does not happen by chance, most of the times. Just like a baby does not pop out by chance, except for one or two recorded in history.

Without understanding the mindset of the sales process, you cannot just decide to write about an article or some stupid event and hope that the user suddenly buys the product from the right-hand-side banner.
Heheh... it really tickles me that the majority of bloggers have no strategy to generating sales..

A product can only be sold, if there is a need for it, and people are searching for it. If a market does not exist, there will be no sales. If a need does not exists, there will be no transaction.
When a need exists, there exists many different stages of a the need. It's like an itch, the more severe it is, the more it needs to be scratched. The same for a sales process. Is the need crucial ? At what stage is the user at on the buying scale ?
Give you an example: Lets take Hair Loss
A person suffering from hair loss may want to fix his or her problem.
Assuming this person does, the steps are:
1) Research Hair Loss Problem / Cause
2) Research Available Solutions / Services
3) Read User Reviews, Testimonials, Study Pricing
4) Proceed to Purchase the product

Now, if your article talks about a particular hair loss product to buy, you are only focussing on the users who have done all prioir research for causes, solutions, reviews, and have already narrowed down on that particular product. You are focussing on only the last stage of the purchasing process.
What about those who wants to learn the causes of hair loss ??

Sales is all about leading the prospect from one stage to the next, from whichever stage the prospect is at.
It's like slowly drawing the rabbit closer to you by pulling the carrot inch by inch.

Do most bloggers even do that ? I mean, the breakdown of the entire buying process, knowing who to target, what buying stage and to even consider if such a product is salaeable online.
Knowing the reasons that a man in his 40s wants to fix the problem, and a woman in her 30s are akin to two completely different world views.
The sales message has to sound coherent to the targetted audience.

Now, suppose you have managed to pull the right audience over, with the right article to address the right buying phase.
Other questions to consider:
Is the prospect questioning the trust worthiness of the seller ?
Is the product believable ? If all other factors are convincing, but the product itself is not believable, then the sales won't happen.
Does the product have many close substitutes ? Is the product easily available in a nearby salloon ?
Is the product within the price range of the buyer ?

I have spent years thinking over the sales process, and have created a detailed checklist to know for certain:
What products will people buy online, and if it fails any of my checklist, I might not want to even bother promoting them.

Now, what I have just covered was on salesmanship. The art of understanding the mindset of the buyer, and the environmental factors that would make a sales probable.
From the above, PRODUCT BELIEVABLITY IS A very important factor. Most MLM products DO NOT FALL WITHIN the BELIEVABILITY CATEGORY.

If I go to IKEA, and I see a SOFA, that product is very believable. I get exactly what I see.
The same goes for most FUNCTIONAL ITEMS - fan, lights, a phone. BELIEVABLITY is no question for these products.

But hair growth products, vitamins, weight loss products, dietary supplements and all fall within this wishy washy category, where believability is questionable.
I had 10 weight loss websites channeling traffic to green coffee bean extract once before, and not a single sales were made, despite me sending over thousands of targeted users.

Will lights , fans , washing machines sell online ?
Forget it. Items that are easily found around the corner shop or a shopping mall will not sell through your website.
Even a unique chandelier sort of lighting will hardly sell online, because it's not functional. People don't give two hoots about buying a product online purely for its aesthetics.

Now, besides salesmanship, product identification... , the next step is to research search volume and search trend.
Do most bloggers do that ? Google Trends ? Google Keyword Planner ?
In the past, I have taken 70 of my websites statistical data, and correlate those figures with these search volume tools, to determine once and for all if they are accurate.
Conclusion: yes, they are. I see the graph correlate to the traffic on my site, based on seasonal items.

Search engine traffic ? For all that you have done above, if you are not able to have thousands of targeted visitors a day, then you're not really in serious business yet.
And if you think that you single handedly can maintain a blog that gets thousands of visitors a day - who are in the mindset to buy .. then you are really mistaken..

Most bloggers will likely have 0 to 100 casual traffic a day, and that is with daily updates.

Again, I want to stress that in any generalizations, I am speaking about overall results. In general, etc. In any weird phenomenon, a few odd ducks will manage to overcome the odds.
I do not want to get into an argument with someone telling me it's not true, etc. Remember, I am speaking about my experience, and information at a statistical level.

The internet is a perfect competition market. To succeed, you need to know your products, your customers, the landscape (search engine), and be able to wag your tongue like a candy stick.

Sun Tzu art of war got it right in his books, but the meaning was lost on many. To read the book is one thing, to truly grasp its concept... I myself never could, as many times as I read it, until I went through the entire
cycle myself. Failed. Learn. Failed. Learn. Failed. Relearn.

I have reached a level now, whereby I possess a true understanding of the path to success. I understand online sales extremely well, and I understand the psychology of buyers as intimately as I understand how search engine works.

So if you think, that all it takes to make money is to start a blog or an e-ecommerce website, etc.. think again....
Oh yes, and any Guru who sells you a 'money making system', or some finance betting system, or some guaranteed Internet Marketing course are all scammers...
Nobody who can easily make RM1,000 a day teach you his secret for RM2500.00.
He may teach you how to go about the technicalities - how to put up a website, how to post a product, how to accept payments via paypal, but he can never teach you how to be profitable.
The assumptioon that if you can do A->B->C->D, then D-> PROFITS..... the question not answered is this:
If every single person is doing the same thing, then what will make you so different that you can profit while the rest fail ?

Have a good day, I hope it was a good read for you.

Rgds,
Yam Chuan

No need for this.
Brand new price is around RM900.00
I received this phone as a gift. I opened the box and tested its camera features and audio quality.
Here is what I found: The camera quality beats the iphone 5s with every shot. Better color and image quality hands down.
I tested the audio quality with a top selling Sennheiser Momentum headphones (RM950.00) which I bought recently. I tested the sound against the ipad and iphone 5s. Sound quality was equal and cannot be differentiated.

Conclusion from test: Definitely better camera than Iphone 5s, definitely on par with iphone 5s and ipad mini with regards to headphone sound quality.
I am an iphone user and have no intention of moving around with a secondary phone or gadget, that's why I am selling this off.
It's in perfect condition, zero scratches and I have updated it to the latest OS/Firmware last week. There is no other reason for selling this mint condition unit besides my lost of interest.

Call / SMS / Whatsapp for Immediate / Quick COD.

Have a nice day,
Yam Chuan

Some Photos Taken with This Phone Yesterday:

No image editing was done besides resizing the resolution to 900px width from 3200px.
The camera in itself is superb for photography...
My Thrill of Earning RM50k a month

Hi,
First and foremost, I want to state that this is not about bragging. I have posted in this forum before and have seen how some people respond with a ready accusation of bragging, faking a story or trying to sell some products here. I am doing neither of these things.

The truth of the matter is, over RM40k of my income is earned passively through the internet. The other RM10k, well, I still keep the flow from my day job. Yes, I work a day job ... always as a safety net..

In this post, I would like to talk about earning that 40k passive income, and forget the main job income, as it's just for paying the bills and getting household stuff in order.

My background:
I came from a poor family, but a healthy one, where honesty, fairness, kindness and all sorts of other values were instilled in me since young. But the one skill that I have that has helped me is being analytical (and very logical), plus a persistence that just doesn't wear off. It is my analytical skill that has helped me retrospectively study my failures each time, and to implement my next project in a way that would have fixed that fault. In a repetitive, recursive fashion, each new project I worked on ironed out past failures, and shaping it into a more and more perfect product.

From my experience, you need to have a few core skills to succeed:
1) Analytical
2) Persistence (this is not a skill)
3) Knowledge
4) Industry skill-set
5) Marketing Skills

Now, I am only sharing this truth from my own life experience. I come from an IT/software development background, and I cannot say how it will work out for someone who is a mechanic. I have no knowledge on that and it is beyond my capacity to assume it will work similarly. But if you could study the gist of my post, and find relevance in your industry, then I would be happy for you.

Now, I wanted this to be a comprehensive, educational post, and I apologize if it has to be long. I was weighing between writing a short to the point story which would omit details that are significant to my success, but that which would be short enough to maintain readers attention against writing a comprehensive post that would truly be an experience walk-through, but may put some readers to sleep... and have decided for this to be a truly meaningful post, even if it alienates readers with shorter attention spans..

To earn a lot of money, you need to have mainly 2 skills, which is the skill-set in whatever industry you are in, plus marketing skills. If you are a mechanic, you can open a shop selling car-parts, and you need to know your products well, and what each part does. If you are an aircond specialist, you'd better know your brands well, and able to perform the most difficult task required, like piping, hacking walls, parts, etc. But beyond any industry skills that a businessman must posses, the marketing skills is a must. A lawyer makes a lot of money not because he is a lawyer, but because he is a great marketer as well, who is able to get clients. A mechanic that opens a shop is only a poor mechanic until he manages to lure tons of customers to his shop. A painter is a poor painter unless he get many calls to paint houses. In short, if you just know only your industry-skills well, you are not going to succeed as a businessman.

In all businesses, the only way to succeed is to have tons of customers flowing in day after day. The painter keep getting phone calls on painting jobs. The air-cond guy gets multiple orders / service calls daily for various condos, commercial properties, houses, etc. The mechanic's shop gets constant flow of customers that are referred to by magazines, car-tinting shops, used-car dealers, car wash shops, etc. These "distribution channels" responsible for constant delivery of customers is the only thing that matters to a business. You may not be the best painter, not be the top mechanic or the top aircond specialist around, but then, people are not looking for the best. You only need to be the one who is found soonest.

Actually, business is really simple, but people and university text books complicate it to a point where the entire subject feels chaotic. Of course, the books are talking about multinational organizations, with full structure from board of directors to support staff. But for most people like you and me, we are just 1 person, or a group of 4 to 7 people trying to make big bucks. We are not in need of such complex structures, but a simplified model of success.

The simple formula is just this:
Be as good as you can be in your industrial competency, then focus on bringing in tons of customers or clients through referrals, partnerships, advertisements with anyone or any source that is willing to send prospects your way for a commission or fee.

Now, back to what I actually did.
Since my industry was the 'Web', I developed software and websites. Stupid of me, developing software but failed to set up the distribution channels, the constant flow of customers... that was 15 years ago... Spent too much time on the product, but not on exposing it. Gradually over the years, I understood that I had to have not hundreds, but thousands of visitors each day to cut sales. Hence my focus shifted on the details of getting visitors. I did breakdowns and studied the different sources of potential traffic. Since my industry was technology, my medium of promotion was naturally the Internet, or the web. I learned everything I could about search engines and implemented many different types of websites to test the attraction of traffic. What sort of content attracts traffic ? How many ? How to find content that attracts traffic ? Basically, what I believe is important to anyone who wants to succeed is:

1) Learning how to learn
2) Learning how to find knowledge

I have accepted the fact that we don't know a lot of things, and we don't know a lot of what it takes to succeed. But being able to KNOW WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW, and KNOW HOW TO LEARN WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW, and KNOW HOW TO FIX WHAT YOU DID WRONG is crucial... It's being able to impartially look down at yourself from above and swallow the stupid things you did wrong..

An example for a quest of knowledge ... I read many books, covering marketing, business, copywriting, software development, psychology, closing tactics, etc.. although my core skill is just technical. These knowledge outside your area of expertise helps to open your mind in all directions, and allows you to connect the hidden dots that could lead you to success. Never stop learning, never stop reading.

One of the most important skills I learned through reading (and you need to read 10 books to find a diamond that is just 1 chapter long !) is to be able to connect to people - market segmentation. How the same product can be sold to many different people. As an example, if I wanted to promote an investment fund/mutual fund package, I need to approach different categories of people differently because of their different preconceived notion of the world..

To Single Moms - I would create a story on how difficult it is to raise kids up alone, and all the troubles that go with it. And fund/mutual fund would be long term planning.

To Property Investors - I would say how risky the property market is, and a crash is coming soon. Most people are diversifying investment into xxx scheme, and it's highly profitable and less risky.

To Software Developers - The software industry is slowing down, financial market is coming up - many software developers are learning financial course, many putting money in xxx program because... or whatever b.s you can think off..

The trick is to see from the point of the prospect, and spin a story that is believable... People are driven by fear, greed or vanity.. You can really sell sizzle for better returns than the actual steak...

Marketing is a skill, a skill of getting exposure, connecting to people, closing the deal. Reading up on human psychology will have some relevance..

For me, I knew I needed to do 2 main things to succeed:
1) To bring in lots of traffic (distribution channels)
2) To connect to the visitors and sell a product (sales tactics, psychology)

The knowledge above is needed above the industry skill-set to create the product. I did it bit by bit, brick by brick, and as I added more distribution channels, my traffic increases, so did my sales. I gradually hit RM40k a month, some time back, passively. Basically, I sold only digital products.

Shall I continue to share how I feel with that sort of money, and spend my time ?

Now, I buy any clothes I want, any time I want.
I go about, trying to teach others that it can be done
I buy any phone/gadgets that I want
I spend a lot of time working out for health
I waste my time at bars, enjoying live bands and meeting women for drinks, chats and ... more
I spend more time building the next income stream.

All I can say is that having loads of money flowing in allows freedom in many areas, and I now aim to improve myself in different areas:

1) Intellectually
2) Health
3) Socially
4) Travel

When you solve the money problem, more than anything it buys you TIME. With TIME and MONEY, you can work to become smarter, become healthier, meet people and have fun, travel and experience the world. Without money, life is lived with limitations..

Anyway, now and then, when I feel like it, I come by to share my experiences, not because I want to brag, but because I want to give hope to those without, that it can be done. I had nothing before. I failed many many times, and it's not by chance I succeeded. Anyway, I have almost completed a book I have been writing and about to sell it soon. My next few books will be on "asynchronous income", "leveling up your human self" and "psychology of hidden dots" and "the art of developing focus" ..all unwritten and ideas swirling in my head ... don't Google them, nothing exists yet.. But for those who want to meet up with me for coffee, just talk, laugh, feel free to contact me. I have met up with a few people from this forum and it's a cool thing that we are still keeping in touch weekly... this forum can truly bring about a truly social experience if we want to take the enriching step ... Greets to Jason, Kai, Jackson, and the few who have met me for fun and seriousness..

Getting High Profile Jobs by Charm

Hello ladies and gentlemen,
I have always wanted to start this topic for debate and decided right now that I will.

Supposed that you already have substance - the technical skills, management skills, confidence and all the necessity required to get a job done well.

What else do you think could land you that hot job, and also earn the aura of respect and admiration of the people ?

Being suave, a charmer - ladies' man as well as a mans' man
How do you go about it ? Dressing in style ? Being spontaneous ? A socially cultivated person ? - Dancer, Singer, outdoor person ? Driving a stylish car ? A romantic flirt ?

I have been thinking about the issue, and have met some with an attraction factor.. Don't get me wrong, this person is already capable with his work with all the required skills, but to be all that and more .. surely, there are always room for improvement beyond just what is required by the job, an x-factor that makes this person stand out from the rest .. larger than life, a shadow that overshadows all his other managers and shines through the eyes of every employee...

How can a person be all that and more ? Would love to hear your opinion
Salary Raise - 100% guaranteed approach

Hi guys,
Although I have never had any problems getting an increment, after reading this forum I realized that many others are puzzling over this issue. Here I would like to share how to do it right, and getting your raise with certainty.

Now, to be realistic, every job position has a ceiling value. Just as a company won't pay a floor cleaner $5k a month when hundreds are applying for the position for just $800, a software developer (of a certain skill) cannot ask for $8000 when there are 50 others waiting to get the job at $4500.00. This is all about demand and supply, and that the cost of paying for an employee must be factored into the company's profits and whether its liable to keep that employee at the asking rate.

The only way to get a raise for sure is:
1) The value you offer is in high demand by the company and that you are hard to replace
2) Your bosses like you because you managed to make their lives easier and save them from difficult situations
3) You are well liked in the company because you have demonstrated strong influence across the various departments and have created a perception of capability

plus the necessary condition that
1) The company has sufficient funds for your salary, either by being profitable or funding

Before you ask for a raise, be sure that you have met at least 1 of the criteria above and the necessary condition. All your value in the world won't matter if the company has financial problems.

If you feel that you have created a track record in the company and have consistently delivered on all your kpi and more, just ask for it. The company will factor in the cost of replacing you with someone else, and the learning curve of the new recruit and most of the time, they won't find it worth it as you're already running on the ground. Better to just give you a raise.

If you have consistently kept your bosses out of difficult situations and they know that without you, their rears would have been boiled many times over, by all means, ask for a raise. If you have demonstrated subject matter expertise that is way beyond what your boss knows, you create the perception of knowledge and expertise. Ask for a raise, and you will get it.

If you have built strong relations with all the people in your company and influential in getting things moving, either by outstanding project management skills and people management skills, then ask for it.

Ask confidently and be assertive that you may look at other opportunities due to rising living standards, that you would really like to stay on but am force to meet living costs.

However, if you have not demonstrated strength in your work, no people skills and no specialized skills that is above and beyond what other candidates of similar position and pay are having, then don't ask.

The way to create the perception of strength and confidence is in reading up on the subject of your work to know more than your bosses - and be brave in discussing openly during meetings and social talks to show that you're not just a follower. Communication skills are key in exhibiting an aura of knowledge and presence and the capability to be ahead.

The company must always have this perception when granting you your request:

1) Is it cheaper to hire someone else ? The risk would be the uncertainty of a new employee, the learning curve, the possibility that the new employee won't stay long and the work interruption. Businesses would always prefer a known person and to always avoid risk.

The best way to have an iron grip on your job position with a guaranteed raise is to be a master of your job role that you are not easily replaceable. Meaning, that no one else knows as much as you do, and it would take an extremely long time for a new person to learn the ropes. In technical job roles, certain software code can be so complex that nobody wants to take on that job, and would prefer someone who is already familiar to keep it running. Because if that system stops running, many others above the chain will be in trouble. Easier to just pay the extra and everyone is happy.

Personally, I would make myself indispensable first before asking, and testing their appetite for risk.. Of course, you must be in charge of an important system first, if you're just a side-show working in a minor role, and your output can be put on hold or removed altogether, then you may not be in any position to ask for a raise. It may even be the excuse the company need to hint to you to leave if you're not happy so they may close that role. You just made it easier for them to initiate that suggestion.

Well, that's my two cents. But remember, even if you meet all those criteria for a raise but are not bold enough to ask, don't expect it to be given freely.

Fortune only favors the bold
Rgds,
YC

Salary > RM10k + Side Income RM10k

Dear Job Seekers,
I'm 33 years old, salary is more than 10k , and side income is another 10k.

Here is a brief explanation of how I keep getting > 10k jobs.

1) Specialization - be the best. Period. Put in more hours than anyone, keep learning and improving yourself. Be sure its something in demand, and the fewer people who can do it, the better. My expertise is in programming large scale systems.

2) Speak Good English, and be Impressive. Crappy English ? You better start on that. The job interview is just a gate. No matter how good you are at your skills, without being able to impress the interviewers, you may never get the job.

3) Dress well. Long ago, me, from the IT background didn't care much about dressing, but that's changed. Learn to dress in proper long sleeve shirts, expensive pants, clean work shoes. Dress up to impress. Dress up to gain respect. Regardless of your peers, looking good (not just to impress gals, but it does help a lot) will create a lasting impression.

4) Learn to control conversation. Interviewers will talk about what they know, not necessarily what you know. If you find them straying down a path where you lack knowledge, redirect the conversation to topics of your favor that puts interviewers in awe instead. If you can't convince them, confuse them. They only know what they know.

5) Once your salary climbs up, spend money on more expensive stuff to make yourself look more reputable. Buy expensive watches. Better still, buy different watches for different occasions. Dress watches, sports watches. Groom yourself well. Study social dynamics, balance of power. Learn how to empower and love yourself ultimately.

Side Income

For side income, I'm hitting 10k a month without doing much work. It's purely automatic. This is where my 17 years of technical skill kicks in. Skills involve testing, trying, failing, failing, failing, restrospecting, correcting mistakes, tweaking, etc. Find something profitable, multiply it over 1000 times over. Do once, repeated 1000's of times. I can't tell you more on this, its very technical, but it require you to be a strategist and a many times failure to succeed.

Does money make me happy ? No. It feels very hollow inside. It's a lonely road.... It's a superficial game. A game that very few will want to play.
