Luxury entry-level SUV/crossover

A year ago, the XC40 used to be more expensive hence I still had a reason to go for the Countryman, which everyone claims to be more fun to drive. Then IDK what happened to the price recently, but it is now cheaper, almost same as BMW X1 sDrive 20i. So in terms of price versus performance and features, XC40 has just pulled ahead and it made my decision harder.

As for why I didn't consider X1, that's because I'm not keen with it's plain interior. I'm fully aware it has the same platform structure as the Countryman.

Let's hear your opinions.

Brands aftersales service comparison

Please share your good or bad experience with aftersales service of various TV brands in Malaysia.

On behalf of some senior relatives, I called Samsung to repair a malfunctioning TV and was directed to a live chat with one of their crew. They promised to call back in 5-7 business days but it has been over two-weeks now. Although it is an entry-level TV, it is a recent model bought about a year ago. In fact, another young relative claimed to have called them earlier too for the same TV unit and still hasn't gotten a response since. I didn't believe him, but now I'm convinced that he has also tried.

Please share your good or bad experience with aftersales service of various TV brands in Malaysia. This is very helpful for everybody because, well, a non-existence aftersales means it is pointless for anyone to be extending your warranty.

I also have a new idea suggestion for youtube content creators in Malaysia. Purchase an entry-level TV model from every brand in Malaysia and then induce malfunctions, and count how many days it takes for every brand to complete the repair.

I was fortunate my Samsung phone didn't fail even once in over four years, so I have never had to interact with their aftersales in my life until now, but I cannot recommend their TVs to anyone at this point. Thank goodness that relative already have a new unit bought, but I need that TV working again so it has some value, and I can probably trade it afterwards. If this prolongs, I will reach out to Samsung global.

55" OLED vs 65" QLED

Preferences

Unboxing service provided. It does not need to be mounted or anything, but if there is a pair of feet that has to be screwed, it is nice if the movers can do that. If this sounds silly to you, lets just say, this TV is going to be gifted and placed on the old folks' house. I won't be there.

Have teletext.

They are not hard requirements. Just preferences. Will find other solutions like calling over relatives for help.

Environment description

TV will be watched mostly under moderately lit environment. Want to be able to watch from dining table as well. That would be around 12 feet away.

The old set was a 58" VA panel. They were really happy with it until it died. I don't think they understand the difference to an IPS panel hence it should not matter if it is VA or IPS.

What have I found so far?

I saw the 55" LG BX OLED going for around that price. Is the size more important than the obvious display quality that comes with OLED?

Seen the 65" Sony X85J with VA panel being recommended elsewhere. How much of a step down is this from X90J which is out of my budget?

What about the 65" Sony X80J with IPS panel?

Why isn't anyone talking about Prism+ here in this forum? They are so cheap. Is there a catch? Can it provide installation and launch teletext?

Gaming ultraportable that lasts over 4 years

My gtx 1060 laptop that costed me rm6400 not booting up just barely after 3 years. Dont ask me which brand. I dont really blame them yet, because it could be my fault that I placed it on a soft mattress cover while it was still shutting down. I also changed the battery only 10 days ago and vacuumed the vents 2 days ago. There can be so many culprits.

I am here to ask anyone with experience of using ultraportables (~2.0 kg) with above xx60 nvidia cards, because these range are the ones that run hot, and whether you have been able to use it beyond 4 years? Meaning yours could be a 960M card that is still going with minimum fuss.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I want to know if this is a typical life expectancy for laptops like this, whether there are any brands I can better rely on in future.

If a rm7500 machine can last over 4 years then it is a better deal than rm6400 machine that barely passed 3 years. Especially curious on Asus and Razer.

Its a bummer because it handles all the games I play fine. I even undervolted and disabled turboboost from the moment I got it with the hope it could last for 4 to 6 years. The original plan was to wait for 120Hz OLED screens.

I am contacting support now, but its likely I have to console myself that I will at least get to experience wifi 6, twice faster graphics and ryzens that run cooler, earlier than scheduled.
