Vegas Pro12 Jerky Preview on MOV

Here's the deal.

I bought a Lenovo Y510P laptop (i7, 8 Gig RAM) knowing that the specs will be decent for video editing. Turns out not as straight forward as I thought.

Whenever I load my .MOV files for editing, once laid out on the timeline on Vegas Pro12, things are not smooth at all. Jerky, choppy etc. I had to always convert the files to GoPro Cineform Avi format if I want to have a smooth playback preview. The thing is those files are super huge and takes time to convert.

My question is, I have seen another buddy of mine running the same program with the same .MOV files to work on but his PC is only like a Dell PC on i3 and he can even set the preview quality to Best! I have been scouring the net for forums on these issues but I haven't found any real solutions.

Anyone with experience on this? Sure helps if I can skip converting them files every time!

Cheers!

External GPU for MY beloved Toshiba Satellite M100

THE STORY

I have an old Toshiba Satellite M100 which is an awesome piece of laptop. Super tahan lasak. I am into Youtube video creation & editing and wihout making any proper kajian I thought buying A new Dell Laptop online with an i5 processor and adding up to 8 Gig of RAM was the bomb. I use Vegas Video as my primary tool for editing. With the advancement of HD videos apparently what I need is (from Vegas Video Website) "..GPU-accelerated video processing and rendering requires an OpenCL™-supported NVIDIA®, AMD/ATI™, or Intel® GPU with 512MB memory; 1GB for 4K." which I don't have!! Haiyahhhh..

THE PLAN

After scouring the internet I did find some resources but as you know all this Mat Saleh sites will lead you to online overseas sites which is great if you are living in the US. My plan is to build an external GPU unit cheaply as possible on my old Satellite M100 as the external GPU setup requires an existing PCi slot. (I'm not too familiar with PC building and connections.. that's where I need your guidance awesome Low Yatt people.

THE HOW'S

If you do have experience doing this could you guide me to the right path of building it and the list of items that I can get locally based on my Toshiba Satellite M's specs?

Terima kaseh!

Where I got the idea (But still got confused): How to Upgrade Your Notebook Graphics Card Using DIY ViDOCK

Installing the WajkIUI like this ka?

A very happy and prosperous new year fellow Defyans. Just came back from my Christmas balik kampung in Sabah and it was awesome. I used my Defy under the rain and even bring it to do some sweaty palm oil harvesting at my dads orchard and it survived! Love my Defy..

Anyways, Iv'e been reading about the WajkIUI ROM thingy and it seems to be good in battery life. I'm currently on Cm7.

So.... meaning installing the WajkIUI is as simply as doing the Install Zip from SD Card under recovery?

..And currently which version would you recommend?
