Egypt Pays A Heavy Price For Revolution

This article is curiously timed. Nurul Kamaludin claims that Egypt's people revolution (hint: rallies and riots) made the country worse. Is she implying something?

So would she say the Islamic Revolution in Iran - which overthrew a corrupt government but made Iran an international pariah - was a bad thing? (I have yet to see a single Muslim claim this)

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

QUOTE

Egypt Pays A Heavy Price For Revolution

By Nurul Afida Kamaludin

CAIRO, July 8 (Bernama) -- In the aftermath of the 'people's revolution' to topple Hosni Mobarak's regime, it now appears Egypt is paying a heavy price.

The perpetrators of the revolt achieved their objective, but at what cost? While they claim to have done it for democracy, the revolt did not bring about any significant improvement to the country that is known for its rich civilisation.

While its people are facing greater hardships than prior to the revolution, its economy has become tougher to revive after foreign investors lost confidence in its stability.

According to reports from foreign news agencies, the 18-day revolution which erupted on January 28, caused Egypt's annual growth to fall below two per cent, compared to the earlier projection of five per cent.

Also, as a consequence, its currency depreciated 25 per cent.

Egypt's tourism industry was badly hit, as well. The industry, a major contributor to Egypt's economy, shrunk 40 per cent.

http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v5/newsfeatures.php?id=599919
The king’s reserves, swollen by more than $214 billion in oil revenue last year, have insulated the royal family from widespread demands for change even while some discontent simmers.

Saudi Arabia has also relied on its unusually close alliance with the religious establishment that has long helped preserve the power of the royal family. The grand mufti, the highest religious official in the kingdom, rolled out a fatwa saying Islam forbade street protests, and clerics hammered at that message in their Friday sermons.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/09/world/mi...ner=rss&emc=rss

Too bad Malaysia not enough oil money to buy off opposition lol.

QUOTE

Tan Tian Maw sits in an office on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, hands trembling in her lap, and describes how she was raped by two Malaysian policemen.

Her voice is soft and barely audible above the dragon boat drummer practising outside.

"She hasn't had any trauma counselling," her lawyer, Latheefa Koya, explains. "No one has really helped her."

...

The UNHCR helped file a complaint with the Malaysian police, who initially claimed the rapists were fake police officers. They then said the patrol car was stolen.

Later, they conceded the pair were real officers but could not be identified and repeatedly questioned her about the ownership of the bike.

"No investigation has taken place," Ms Koya says. "Nothing will happen. And this is not unusual.
Aztech Modem/Router Problem

Broadband provider
ISP/package: Streamyx
Location: PJ
Have you called your ISP's helpline?: Yes

Personal equipment
Modem: Aztech 1000EW
Router: Same (Modem/Router)
Firewall used: None

Problem details
So not sure what I'm doing wrong with my router.

It was working fine for the past few months and then one day it didn't work. On the status page, it shows as "Connected" and it even lists TMNet DNS servers detected (202.188.0.133).

I can connect to the router via WiFi and Ethernet and access it obviously.

But I can't use the Internet through WiFi and Ethernet. Can't even ping Google, TMnet or the DNS Servers (weird). But I haven't changed anything (unless TMNet changed something!).

Restored to factory settings and it worked for awhile. But then after turning it off and back on, same problem again. Now it doesn't work even after restoring sections.

No problem when I connect using a standalone modem (which I'm using to type this now). Any ideas what went wrong with the Aztech?

Many thanks.

[addedon]January 20, 2011, 10:59 am[/addedon]Okay, think I figured out the problem although not sure if this is a permanent solution (still think the Aztech is acting weird)

So as per screenshot, make sure all boxes are checked in the modem. Apparently some were not checked and that made me unable to browse. But not sure how it came to be changed as I didn't touch any settings. I won't be buying Aztech anymore, this is my second modem that has been acting all weird.

Suicide Bombings in Pakistan Sufi Shrine

Once again, the extremists show how they are better at killing Muslims than Infidels.

QUOTE

ISLAMABAD—Three suicide bombers blew themselves up inside a popular Sufi shrine in the eastern Pakistan city of Lahore on Thursday, killing at least 40 people, a brutal continuation of attacks by extremists targeting followers of one of Pakistan's popular and more moderate versions of Islam.

Thousands of devotees were inside the Data Gunj Bakhsh complex, a turquoise-domed shrine to an 11th-century Persian Sufi saint, when two bombers detonated themselves inside the marbled hall. A third attack took place outside the gate, police and witness said.

The attackers threw grenades on the crowd as it concluded late-night prayers, and then detonated themselves. Pakistani television showed images of blood smeared on the shrine's marble floor. "There was a huge blast and there was complete pandemonium," a witness told private GEO TV news.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142405...=googlenews_wsj

Saudi Arabia Lets Israel Attack Iran

See - Arabs and Jews can get along, especially when they are fighting Persians.

QUOTE

Saudi Arabia has conducted tests to stand down its air defences to enable Israeli jets to make a bombing raid on Iran’s nuclear facilities, The Times can reveal.

In the week that the UN Security Council imposed a new round of sanctions on Tehran, defence sources in the Gulf say that Riyadh has agreed to allow Israel to use a narrow corridor of its airspace in the north of the country to shorten the distance for a bombing run on Iran.

To ensure the Israeli bombers pass unmolested, Riyadh has carried out tests to make certain its own jets are not scrambled and missile defence systems not activated. Once the Israelis are through, the kingdom’s air defences will return to full alert.

“The Saudis have given their permission for the Israelis to pass over and they will look the other way,” said a US defence source in the area. “They have already done tests to make sure their own jets aren’t scrambled and no one gets shot down. This has all been done with the agreement of the [US] State Department.”

Sources in Saudi Arabia say it is common knowledge within defence circles in the kingdom that an arrangement is in place if Israel decides to launch the raid. Despite the tension between the two governments, they share a mutual loathing of the regime in Tehran and a common fear of Iran’s nuclear ambitions. “We all know this. We will let them [the Israelis] through and see nothing,” said one.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/worl...icle7148555.ece
