BANGKOK (June 17): Thailand announced on Friday it would abandon its much-criticised pre-registration process for foreign visitors and no longer require face masks to be worn in public, responding to a slower Covid-19 spread.

The "Thailand Pass" system, where foreign tourists must seek prior approval from Thai authorities, will be halted from July 1, Tourism Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakan told reporters, removing one of the country's last remaining travel curbs.

Thailand is one of the world's most popular travel destinations, but tourism businesses have long complained its requirement for foreigners to submit multiple documents — from vaccine and swab test certificates to medical insurance and hotel bookings — was impeding the sector's recovery.

Thailand was visited by nearly 40 million people in 2019, but received less than 1% of that number last year, despite easing its quarantine requirements.

Though tourism has picked up in recent months, the industry is far from recovering, with huge jobs and business losses in a sector that typically accounts for about 12% of Thai gross domestic product.

The coronavirus task force on Friday also said use of face masks would from next month be voluntary, but advised people to wear them if in crowded settings or if suffering from health conditions.

Thailand has suffered more than 30,000 Covid-19 deaths overall, but has largely contained its outbreaks, helped by a vaccination rate of more than 80%.

Hi folks, I am getting married soon. Would like to check what is the order of sequence for the tea ceremony and church wedding?
Typically when the groom pick the bride from her house, do the groom serve tea to her parents and relatives first, or do with groom side first?

1. Pick up bride
2. Serve tea to her parents and relatives
3. Go to groom's house to serve to groom parents and relatives.

or

1. Pick up bride
2. Go back to groom side and serve tea to groom parents and relatives.
3. Fetch bride back to her house to serve tea to her side.

Blocked from entering own house after VP

Need help here.

I have just received my keys to my new house, and I am planning to do some minor works there like painting and eventually put a small bed to live first. However my condo management disallow us from going in during FMCO, stating that they follow its SOP of no visitors allowed.

But that house is mine, so I should be considered as owner and not visitor. Then they argued that as I am not physically staying there but only for visits, I am considered as a visitor.

Anybody have thoughts on this SOP? House is already VP.

I can enter now once I declare to mgmt that I have moved in. Thanks to the kind hearts of /k for the suggestion, but luckily I did not have to act up to the point of making police report.

Fines for smoking at eateries delayed to 2020

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite studies showing that most eateries adhered to the smoking ban, the Health Ministry has extended the six-month educational enforcement period that was enforced from Jan 1, 2019.

The educational enforcement extension would mean there will be no fines imposed until Jan 1 next year.

Health Minister Datuk Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the gazetting of food eateries as no smoking zones under Regulation 11 of the Control of Tobacco Products (PPKHT) Act 2004 received positive feedback, with more saying they were able to breathe clean air and enjoy more comfortable surroundings.

And this was confirmed by the National Cancer Society, which had carried out a study showing most people had not smoked in the gazetted areas.

"This shows the commitment of Malaysians in adhering to the regulation and ensuring the health and comfort of all when eating in public areas," he said in a statement on Thursday (April 25).

The gazetting of the law was in line with Article 8 of the World Health Organisation Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.

Dr Dzulkefly said the study was carried out from April 1-17 through direct observation of 173 eateries in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, which had been listed as places that did not adhere to the smoking ban at the initial implementation.

Among the observations made was whether there was a clear display of no-smoking signs, presence of ash trays and people smoking in eateries.

On average, 170 (98%) eateries did not provide ash trays and 131 (76%) of these places had clear display of the no-smoking sign.

As many as 104 outlets were 100% free from any smoking activities while 69 (40%) had not more than three people smoking.

The positive impact could also be seen in the number of smokers registering to quit through jomquit.moh.gov.my, with 580 people signing up from January to April compared with an average of 428 for the same period in previous years.

"The ministry is of the opinion that the educational enforcement carried out had given a very positive impact," he said.

However, the ministry was also aware that there were still smokers who did not want to kick the habit, he said.

"To give ample opportunity for the smokers to increase their knowledge and awareness about the dangers of smoking, the educational enforcement period will be extended by another six months, until the end of December," he said.

The steering committee meeting, which he chaired on April 16, had agreed to the extension.

"The committee has also decided to ask for additional allocations from the Cabinet so that this group of smokers are helped to quit through the mQuit programme," he said.

The postponement was made to enable the government to step up efforts in helping smokers to quit, he added.

HP3070A Scanner not working

Hi guys, I am having problem with my HP deskjet 3070A printer, where the scanner is showing me this image as below.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, perform scan check using HP Scan Doctor, and unplugging the cable several times.

Does this have something to do with the ribbon cable inside the printer instead? I am sure I did not dismantle it so I would not have broken some cables inside.

Help connecting my PC speakers to amplifier

Hi Guys,

I have a Corsair SP2500 gaming speaker, but its PSU board is blown already, so I am left with an unusable speaker, but its subwoofer and bookshelves speakers(tweeter and midrange) should still be working fine.

So instead of replacing the PSU board components or to get entirely new PSU system, I decided to wire the sub and speakers to LP-168HA amplifier, which I am currently waiting for it to be delivered. I needed suggestions and help on how to connect the wiring of the sub+speakers to the amplifier.

I have yet to check the impedance of my subwoofer, but I will look at it when I got the time. The subwoofer is rated at 120W RMS, and the speakers are 56W each(40W for midrange, 16W for tweeter).

Based on the output of the LP-168HA amplifier, it provides 68W for sub, and 40W for each speaker. I believe that the power output and impedance matching should be alright between this speaker and my amp. But the problem here is how do I connect my speaker(tweeter+midrange) to the amplifier connections.

As seen at the back, I have + and - for left and right speakers, and the bottom 4 ports are for the sub wiring, in parallel. But my speaker has 4 wires coming out from it, the + and - for the tweeter and midrange. How do I connect these 4 to my amplifier, which has only 2 ports?

Do I combine the top + and bottom + and connect them to the red port of my amp? Or do I need to get a crossover to separate them?
