New hardware always seems to have its share of problems, and Apple has confirmed to The New York Times that this time around some iPhone 5S owners are experiencing poor battery performance. "We recently discovered a manufacturing issue affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5S devices that could cause the battery to take longer to charge or result in reduced battery life," Apple spokesperson Teresa Brewer told the Times in a statement. "We are reaching out to customers with affected phones and will provide them with a replacement phone." The Times points out that a defective battery is not the same thing as a "manufacturing issue," indicating that bad components aren't necessarily to blame.

Apple declined to state how many phones were impacted, but interest in the iPhone 5S has certainly been intense: between it and the new 5C, Apple sold more than 9 million new iPhones in their first weekend of release. We've reached out to Apple for further comment.

Following the time-honored tradition of hiring celebrities as advisors, Lenovo has just announced Ashton Kutcher is its latest product engineer. According to a press release from the company, Kutcher — who previously studied biochemical engineering at the University of Iowa — will work alongside Lenovo's engineering teams around the world to "develop and market" its Yoga line of Windows 8, Windows RT, and Android convertible tablets. It's hoped he'll inject "input and decision making into design, specifications, software, and usage scenarios."

Ashton Kutcher's first duties appear to be promoting the Lenovo Yoga in a commercial, in which the Jobs star proudly brandishes his new Lenovo ID card. Of course, he's by no means the first celebrity to be hired by a tech company, and undoubtably won't be the last. Notable examples include BlackBerry Creative Director Alicia Keys, Polaroid Creative Director Lady Gaga, and Intel's Director of Creative Innovation Will.i.am.

In the case of Kutcher, however, Lenovo may at least be getting some relevant expertise. The actor's investments in startups like Skype, Airbnb, and Path, not to mention his role as an advisor to The Verge's parent company Vox Media, are well publicized, meaning the star may do more for Lenovo than cynically lend his face to a product line.

Development nearly complete on 64-bit Exynos chip, could debut in Galaxy S5

According to reports out of Korea, Samsung has nearly completed development of what will be the first 64-bit chip in their Exynos lineup. While there are still a few technical and logistical issues to iron out, barring any crazy set backs the new CPU will debut in the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Rumors say the chip will utilize a 14nm process and be based on ARM’s big.LITTLE platform, much like the current Exynos 5 octa. The eight-core chip would deploy Cortex-A53 and Cortex-A57 cores with the ability to push all cores simultaneously while offering reduced power consumption. It would mark the first time Samsung has offered a 64-bit processor in one of their smartphones.

It would not, however, be the first smartphone to utilize a 64-bit chip. That honor goes to Apple with the A7 CPU found in the iPhone 5S (and now iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display). While the need for 64-bit processing at the mobile level has been a topic of debate, more manufacturers appear committed to moving in that direction. Count Samsung among them.

德国是如何处置闲置房的呢。网络热议的是德国政府对于闲置房的强硬政策——闲置3年无人住，房产税翻番；闲置5年政府组织流浪汉入住；闲置7年，收归地方政府所有。

Dell Venue 7 and 8 with Android released, compete for low-cost tablet supremacy

As scheduled, Dell’s newest tablets, the Venue 7 and Venue 8, were released Oct. 18 to compete in the low-cost Android tablet market. Both will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and are primed for Android 4.3. In pricing the Venue 7 at $149 and the Venue 8 at $179, Dell is positioning the tablets as an alternative to older Android systems or Windows 8.1-enabled devices for similar price classes.

The two tablets are similar in hardware to their Windows 8.1-enabled versions, released earlier this month. The Venue 7, measuring in at seven inches on the vertical with a 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, runs on a dual core 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 Clover Trail+ processor and 2GB of memory, with a 16GB hard drive and a microSD card slot for 32GB more storage. It has a VGA camera on the front, a 3MP camera on the back, and a microUSB power and connectivity port.

The Venue 8 is eight inches tall with the same pixel count as the 7. The resolution is therefore not quite as dense as on the Venue 7, but the difference will appear negligible for most users. For that additional $30, the Venue 8′s processor is faster at 2GHz and the cameras are 2MP on the back and 5MP on the front. Unlike the Venue 7, the 8 is available with 32GB of internal storage.

Both models support Wi-Fi connectivity up to Wireless-N, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS connectivity. Rumors that the tablets would be available with HSPA+ modems have proven incorrect according to PC Mag. As we mentioned earlier this month, the audience for the Venue 7 and 8 are likely to be entry-level tablet users focusing mainly on browsing and social media.
