Guys, can Maybank debit card be used for online transactions & paypal? I'm looking for a debit card and wondering if Maybank is any good? The cards aren't allowed to use more than what the account has right?

What is the requirement to get a debit card from them? I don't have any account with them. What do i need to bring to apply for 1?

And how many days would it take to get my debit card?

Thanks.

[WTA] CLK 200K & Skyline V36 250GT

Just wondering between the 2 cars which one is a better choice? Just for cruising no racing.

CLK 200k are priced around rm110k (2003)-rm180k (>2007)

Skyline V36 250GT priced around rm130k (2006)-rm170k (2008-2009)

CLK 200k (1.8L):
163hp (2003-2005), 178hp (2005-2009)
5-speed auto
2 doors
RWD

Skyline 250GT (2.5L) Sedan:
225hp Speed Limited
5-Speed auto (2006-2009), 7-Speed auto (>2010)
4 doors
RWD

What i see is CLK is shaped more sleek, elegance & sporty, Interior is more luxurious & complex, but the affordable ones are really old, nearly 10 years. Parts should not be too difficult to find & maintenance should be normal Mercedes except the Kompressor & cooling needs more attention. More of a comfort cruising.

Skyline on the other hand is much newer, more aggressive, mature & modern look, better engine, bigger space, more convenient 4 doors, Interior is simple & modern, comes with newer tech. Parts can be hard to find, maintenance should be like normal Nissan, NA engine easier to maintain & reliable & share some parts as Infiniti. More of a multipurpose use.

CLK 200k:

Skyline V36

How to tell if someone is attached or single?

Any grand master here can enlighten us anyway to tell if a person is in a relationship or single & available, say a stranger you see quite often but not in a situation where it's suitable to even say "hi"?

Other than looking at the fingers for rings are there any other ways of telling? Anyway to tell the coast is clear before making a move?

What to do with 2012?

I mean there's strong possibility that Euro economy will crash even further this year, how it affects Malaysia is still not very well understood.

People are saying Malaysia economic will follow europe, with inflation & housing at current height, it's not a surprise if the bubble indeed will burst.

One would say better don't buy or invest, but sitting there and doing nothing won't help, as ringgit will also deteoriate in terms of value.

Buying commodities like gold is also not very good option since gold price is constantly at new high.

So what do you guys think we should do to take opportunity or at least minimize the risk exposure?

What were the Monochrome high end phones?

Anyone still remember those boring looking monochrome screens that were once generally green until they came up with orange & blue?

I was wondering if any of you guys still remember those high end monochrome phones that were once as popular as current iphone 4 & blackberries?

If you could specify the model, post a picture & maybe list the sales price back then would be helpful.

So far i only remember that Nokia phone that came with nice chrome metal covers.

I can't afford iphones & blackberries so i'm thinking of buying one of these once high end phones for sms & calls.

Important things to consider is they are long lasting & batteries can still be easily purchased in phone shops (difficult huh?).

here is one Nokia 8810:

PUBLIC BANK, money easy in hard to take out!

I've been using Public Bank all this while, i hardly take out money apart from normal atms.

Recently I find it very very difficult to take out my money.

1st thing i notice is even though Public Bank is 1 bank, they treat each branch as like it's a different company. If i want to do something, i have to go back to the original branch i opened my account. This is very inconvenient.

ATM only allows rm5k limit per day of transaction, and if i go personally to any branch i can only do rm10k transaction per day, and if not mistaken if i go back to the original branch i can only do rm20k? And in order to stop fix deposit from being renewed i have to go back to the original branch just to do so...

This is the 1st time i hear you are limited the transaction per day even going in personally, i have people doing TT more than that amount without much problem, so i want to know for dear Public Bank users, or people working in Public Bank, can you tell me if these limitations are true, or are the bank staff pulling my leg to prevent funds from being taken out? Each TT i have to pay rm2 and i have to spend 20mins to do 1 TT.

I find it very inconvenient if 1 were purchasing car or house and prefer to pay higher downpayment that you have to run to the bank so many time and so many days.

Also they have this policies of not allowing you to open a current account unless you have an introducer from THAT PARTICULAR BRANCH. Yes users from other branch are not valid. Also they require tons of documents while other banks you can just walk in and open 1.

When you put money in, it's so easy but when you wanna take it out it's so difficult. What if i have an emergency and require cash?

I have been using them for 10 years i can't believe the way they implement stuff to prevent you from taking money out. I want to switch bank but even switching bank it would take some time to transfer the funds out... not like i have 1 million but it's very inconvenient! It's our money why are we denied/limited access to them?

About Weekend Cars...

Just wondering how worth it is it to keep a weekend car?

I mean chances are you won't be driving it as much as your daily car, the fact that tyres, engine oils etc will expire in certain time limit even if the car haven't clocked the normal distance intervals. Assuming you can travel 100km in 1 week, it takes like 30week to clock 3000km which is 210days way over the normal 6 months period. And tyres materials normally last 2-3 years.

So for guys who keep multiple cars as weekend cars, are you driving them enough?

Any good billing software?

Hi guys, just wondering is there any good software out there for billing purpose, for use in shops & restaurants?

I hope they can do the following:

1.Easy for operator to use, with customizable graphics/touchscreen support, i.e table layout etc.

2.Basic billing which allows customization of billing equations, i.e sales tax, service tax, coupons etc.

3.Automatic store & backup & transfer data back to a server via network as a database.

4.Able to open up database for accounting, trend studies etc.

Please provide the names of the software out there as i'm not very familiar with these types of software.

Thankyou.
Cost of hosting own server

Just wondering is it cost effective to have our own server for hosting websites?

How much would it roughly cost for the hardware, & line connection.

I know there are ways to use normal computers & a random ip connection by logging on to a server that updates our server ip, but for web hosting do we require full gear servers & corporate fix ip connections?

Is it viable to rent out the additional resources to other people wishing to host websites?

I am curious whether Aircon takes more current when you set the temperature low vs increase fan speed.

Is there a big difference in energy consumption when you set the temperature to 18 compared to 25? I know the biggest consumption is the compressor.

A 18degC setting with low fan speed might feel similiar to 21deC with medium fan speed. Would the consumption be big?

Nose Block but no flu

Been having this nose block for past year, basically my nose hardly gets 100% airflow, it's most of the time half blocked on the left side sometimes the right side also block abit (while left side becomes smoother). I don't have stuffy nose other than in the morning & the end of the day and most of the time they are dry. So i'm feeling slightly not having enough air especially when sleeping.

No matter how i blow the stucked nose is still stucked. When i press my thumb on the nose hole i can feel the plumbing effect. I googled but can't really find a specific answer. When i use my mouth to breathe air flow seems to be ok. Could it be muscle blocking or something?

So Many TVs...

Yesterday I went to few electrical shops to look around, it was amazing to see so many LCD TV sets on display, must have been over 100 units of different models not including the stocks they have.

Come to think of it, TV are one of the more mass produced, frequently updated electronics out there and most of their shelf life is around 1 year. With such tough competition among different makers that keeps coming out new models every month, I wonder what happens to these units, surely they will end up with clearance but with so many models & makes, there will bound to have many units that can't be sold even well after their shelf life, so what happens to them?

Do they get shipped to poorer countries to be resold, scrapped, or returned back to factory for updates? Each maker produce so many models (Samsung have at least 3 models of same size each time), aren't the makers overproducing at the same time wasted resources & cost which could have lowered the retail price if they produced sufficient amount of units instead of flooding the market which end up with tons of electronic waste? TV are rather big in size as such the waste produced is more than small electronics. Is it because of the low cost of production in China that they couldn't care less about it?

Hello fellow Lowyatees, recently am interested in Law but not sure whether i should go for actual class or self study because i felt other than working there's not much accomplishments lately.

I've been working for few years so now not too sure which one is the best option for me, I did Business Admin before working & the only subject related to Law is International Law it was an interesting subject but i felt it's very wide as such it's only like an introduction to various types of laws.

My goal about learning the subject is to understand various areas of law particularly Malaysian Law & useful international law & utilizing the knowledge in whatever i'll be doing whether it's work/life/business or helping others rather than doing it for the sake of getting a qualification to get better jobs or even venture into law industry (but it's a +).

So here are my questions point by point, please provide feedbacks & fill me in on any additional information:

1.Should I do a diploma/degree in schools like ATC/BAC (KL) or should i just buy Malaysia Law Books and read on my own? I'd prefer classes instead of distance learning self-study.

2.If it's better to do a diploma/degree locally, should i go for Full Time or Part Time, I can choose either way but this is what i think, please correct me:

Full Time:
Pros:
a.Can Fully Concentrate on Studies
b.Can go back to student life, escape from office politics (for a while)
c.Fellow students are most likely fixed instead of random students, more dedication, easier to discuss/group study/hang out???.
d.More time to think what to do, & more time to actually do it.

Cons:
a.No Income (minor side income might be possible).
b.Afraid not used to fulltime student life after working life for few years.
c.Afraid i'd loose interest/slow down because i get bored having no other objectives other than study
d.Is it normal people similiar to my case leaving their job after few years working to study full time, I have an impression fulltime students are usually fresh from A-Levels/Highschool. Scare might have problem integrating in since i don't quite follow youth cultures.
e.More pressure to do well as it's fulltime & only objective.

Part Time:
Pros:
a.Have Income
b.Fellow students will most likely be working people, maybe more varieties of students from all age/experience/background (Better discussion due to diversify Experience???).
c.Better networking (Working people)
d.Feel more full/productive in life as studying while working compared to just studying.
e.Mindset feel more responsibility to study hard because I choose to study while working. Felt more I'm studying for the knowledge instead of the certificate compared to fulltime.

Cons:
a.Less time & focus on studies, especially course works.
b.Takes many more years to complete. So can't learn all the subjects & utilize them earlier.
c.Job schedule might cause me to miss classes, need to take leave to prepare/attend exams.
d.More tiring as i hear it's not easy to do LLB while working especially attending classes in the evenings after work.
e.Might have difficulties doing discussion/group studies as most students are very busy/tired/frustrated etc.
f.Students might bring in office politics trend to class room, something i really wanna avoid after work.
g.More expensive because of dragging on more years (registration fees etc need to renew each year)

3.Other than LLB, are there any better options suited for my requirements?

4.Which Uni/College are recommended? So far I hear people saying ATC & BAC are the better ones but even BAC alone are linked with few UK universities, so other than LLB London is there other better ones?

a.I plan to do it fully in Malaysia (most likely KL), with Full Classes instead of typical Distance learning workshops & rely mostly on self-study. Which uni/college offer better in this?

b.Which school/course offer better lecturers, maybe you can name a few notable good lecturers you went to their classes? After studying last time I really appreciate good lecturers, those that not just make classes interesting but also cover related subjects in class instead of asking us to read most of the stuffs. My previous lecturer was pretty good in giving Case examples in class to reflect what he is teaching so most of us have pretty clear idea what the subjects about without having to go back & do much readings to figure out what I just attended.

c.Are most courses offered go by year, i.e 1st year you must study this & this, next year this & this or like USA we can do whichever courses we want 1st as long as we complete the prerequisite subjects?

d.Which schools offers more flexibility, meaning like ease to switch from part time to full time, changing class if i miss a session without having to pay everything again? As some school like BAC is having a session starting September i was wondering whether i can give it a try before deciding whether to do full time or part time.

e.Comparing Full Time & Part Time, are the classes & lecturer the same (for 1 subject), or Full time tend to have more sessions while part time are more compact and maybe have only 1 longer session a week? If they are the same can part timer join full timer's session & vice versa if they miss a session?

f.Is 3 years the mininum time required to complete the course? Or is there some special accelerated class for people that have done certain degree or people who want to complete earlier? And for part timers usually how many years it takes to complete? Say in the unfortunate event we need to retake a course/exam, do we have to wait for the next year to do so?

5.After completing the course, is there any time limit where you need to take the CLP test & do cambering (if wanna enter law industry) or there's no time limit? If we do cambering do we need to be full time & not employed in other jobs/business?

At the moment these are the questions i have in mind. Hope you guys can give me as much info/response as possible as I really need to make a decision soon whether to continue work & do part time or leave & study full time. I've never done part time studies before so really don't know how it's like & whether i can cope with it, but if i were to try it'd be like at least another 3-4 months before i can leave my work & do full time due to my employment contract terms, or find a job with more stable schedule so i can focus on studies after working hours.

Thanks in advance.

Owning a Rear Wheel Drive Manual Car is history

Well nowadays i can't see any official car dealers offering any Manual Transmission Rear Wheel Drive/Four Wheel Drive cars (not trucks or 4x4), so our only shot is from AP dealers, even though we knew it coming now that Government has confirmed start of implementing Half Cut Spare Parts restriction, starting from 4 types of parts starting June, til full ban of 2nd hand parts imports in 2015, we can kiss all grey import cars goodbye when one of those critical parts break down, or part exhorbant price for a local half cut, remaining stocks, or steal someone elses car for parts.

Even for local essembled cars, many use half cut parts because of price & availability, even with official parts, it doesn't cover grey imports, so unless Naza gets the rights to import "new parts", i don't see how import car owners can get hand on spare parts in the future. Maybe half cut importers can repackage half cut parts as "new parts", but price will be very expensive.

So it seems it's not possible for most of us to own any import cars, even by that time current import car price has depreciated til an affordable price. Like many of use said, we'll probably be seeing alot of luxury import cars sitting in the garage not able to run because it's brake disc needed replacement but couldn't find a spare lol.
