few questions on suggested com

Hey guys, I'm looking to get a new com soon for about 3.3k I have these specs together but a few questions about them. Maybe the si-fus around here can help.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Asus P5Q-SE p45
2x 2GB Kingston Ram 800MHz DDR2
Seagate ST3320620AS 500GB SATA
Sapphire 4850x2 1GB DDR3
random dvd rw
Corsair VX 550W
cap ayam casing

Questions are:
1. Will the motherboard bottle neck the graphics card?
2. Can the PSU support the graphics card?
I've read somewhere that its okay and the power usage calculator gets some 413W, but the ati website recommends 650W
Important because its the only psu within budget for the 4850x2
3. Is the hard drive ok?
Some around here say the firmware for 500gm seagates is faulty. But I'm unsure if this model is affected.

Thanks in advance!

So the 4850x2 is in the market now. Any of you guys used it yet? How does it compare with the 4850cf'ed? Lets discuss, in terms of not just performance, but also price/performance.

Better yet... any of you tried the 4870x2 yet?

Games cause disconnect... T_T

Hi all. I have a weird problem and would like to know if this is indeed a networking problem or just my computer being too old...

I'm using a Belkin G+ MIMO Modem/Router connected wirelessly to my desktop upstairs. There is also another wired connection via LAN cable to a desktop.
The upstairs computer is using an Aztech WL230USB wireless b/g usb adapter to give it wireless connectivity. Link quality averages 80-90 and Signal strength averages 40-50. It has a static ip to my router.

For normal usage, everything runs perfectly smooth. MSN is fine, internet radio streaming has no hiccups, etc. etc.

The problem begins when I try to play games with the upstairs computer. Entering a game causes it to instantly lose connection to the router. The WL230USB program which the usb adapter uses will enter an error state and cannot find any wireless networks. I have tried using WZC instead but without success, same problem. The connection will remain lost until I exit the game, after which it reconnects normally, and everything is perfectly fine.

All games are allowed on my firewall, I have port forwarded all games.

It is not a game problem as it happens with all games I try, Red Alert 3, Sins of a Solar Empire, World in Conflict. Heck even games that don't use the internet like Frets on Fire causes a disconnect.

The weirdest part is, Guild Wars works perfectly fine with it. Althought ping averages 500, its still playable and no disconnections occur. I am at a lost.

Also, all these games run without problems on the computer connected via LAN cable.

Could this be due to my upstairs computer being too old? Its about 3 years old, specs are AMD 3000+, 2x 512mb ram ddr2, ATI Radeon x550, 80GB HD.

I get this strange feeling that if I stress the system (most games I play the computer can barely run), the wireless will disconnect. Could this be the problem? If not, what is the problem? And is there anyway to fix it? I'm building up a gaming deficit and going insane!

Thanks in advance

Thinking of new machine

Hi, my friend is looking to get a new rig but needs some help. Specs that hes thinking of are:

PROC: Intel C2D e8200 2.66Ghz 6mb Cache 1333Mhz
MOBO: Asus Mainboard P5KPL-VM
Hard Disk: 320Gb Seagate 7200 RPM
Graphics: Asus EN8800GT 512 Ram DDR3 256bit
RAM: Kingston 3GB DDR2 Ram 667mhz

His questions are,
1. Are the hardware compatible with each other?
2. What cooler do you recommend?
3. What PSU is suitable?
4. He's paying ~RM2k. Is it worth the price?

Answer appreciated

Upgrading a graphics card

I bought an Acer Aspire M5600 few months back because I thought it was a pretty decent desktop at a pretty decent price. But after months of trying to play games I'm very disappointed. It seems that the one thing dragging down my experience is the graphics card, a ATI Radeon x1550 with only 128MB of video memory!

I'm thinking now of getting a new graphics card so I can enjoy the newer games like Call Of Duty 4 and World In Conflict, but I've never upgraded my graphics card before and I don't even know where to start!

I've got a budget of about RM 600 - RM 800 and my computer specs are as such

Windows Vista Premium
Intel Core 2 Duo 6420 2.13GHz
2 GB DDR2 RAM

Could anyone help me by first recommending the optimum card for my computer and then giving me a step-by-step tutorial on how to upgrade it? I hear things like power supply and then I go lost.... Pls cause I'm completely new at this! Thanks so much in advance!

Forgot to mention I use a 19" monitor!
