Buy a New Car or Save More

Hi LYners,

I sold my car early this month and booked a new car (est. 1.7k/month with +-20% d/p) on 7 years loan. But then I use Grab/LRT for commute and Grab/FP for groceries for a couple of weeks and I think its not that bad.

With my recent big jump in my career, I am contemplated to save up to 6k/month (avg maybe 5k/month) and live without a car.

That being said, theres still a SST tax holiday, and I really2 like the car. But I also really2 like to save more money.

I know car is a depreciating assets. And the model that Im looking at (mazda 3 H+) is due for another major update.

Yet I couldn't make up my mind.

I need advice whether I should live without a car for maybe a year or two(or forever) or buy a car with its downside.

Thank you

Halooo.

I’ve been wanting to ask, are door and window grills recommended to install for new serviced apartment unit? My apartment comes with 3 tier security. So I am still wondering if I should still need door and window grills and maybe can opt for alarm or cctv instead?

Profit Rate Lowered but Monthly Repayment Same

Hi,

My Maybank housing loan (Semi Flexi) profit rate started from 4.45% and now reduced to 4.2%. But my monthly repayment hasn't changed. When I read back the agreement, it should reduce. Or is it too early for me to ask this question as the profit rate lowered not too long ago and I should give Maybank some time to reduce the monthly repayment amount? Need some enlightenment here

thanks

Hi,

Is it possible to amend the name of a Malay name (eg Muhammad Shakley Osman bin Abu) to (Muhammad Shakley Osman bin Abu @ Max Ray) through JPN?

If you ask me for what reason?

I want to have 2 name (for first and last name). Easy to get through paper work and people won't write your name wrong or pronounce your name wrong (which pisses me off many time). Plus the name have been tease often since Primary to Secondary schools. So I do not like the name.

Balance Transfer for Full Settlement RHB Easy

Hi guys,

I've been thinking of using Balance Transfer from either Maybank or Public Bank to make a pay off full settlement to my RHB Easy Loan.

My RHB Loan left
10,906.14

Payoff Amount
8,710.35

Reason is, RM2.2k differences is huge. If Balance Transfer could get 0% interest for 1 year and 3% for handling fees. Which if 8710.35 transfer to Maybank/Public credit card makes 8971.66. And no increase of interest since BT interest 0% for 1 year.

Question is, is it possible using BT for payoff amount?

Ok closing this. Hope admins can remove it

MBP 13" or 15" for VM and Programming

I'm thinking of buying a new Macbook Pro.

I'm a programmer so I use Mac for
- Java, PHP, C#, Python and Mobile(RN) programming
- Virtual Machine (Up to 3 VMs), Docker
- 2 extended screen (both 2k resolution)

Sometimes I use for
- Photoshop
- Video editing
- Documentation

Often I
- Browsing the web (open firefox, chrome like 25tabs)
- Watch 1080p-4k video on VLC and Youtube.

I rarely
- Gaming

I got 2 option:
- I was thinking of getting 13" i5 16gb 512gb ssd. But the i5 is still dual core and onboard graphic is still intel graphics. Not sure if dual core suffice for my demanding task. The price however is good though.

- i7 quadcore 16gb 512 ssd for 15". I just don't know if this consider overkill for my task. It's more powerful but alot pricier.

Which mbp spec meet my requirement and not overkill?

Hey guys.

I just got the money to pay full settlement in either these two. But I cant decide which I should go first.

1. Citibank Ready Credit.
- RM 6,752.36 left
- I pay RM500-1000 monthly
- Interest RM200~RM350 per month. depend on how many outstanding I have left.

2. RHB Easy Loan
- RM 11,258.14 left
- MYR 8,920.69 for Full Settlement
- I pay RM352 monthly

Should I go with Citibank Ready Credit since I pay 500++ per month? Or go for RHB Easy Loan since it has 2.5k++ interest between full settlement and outstanding?

Need advise.
I've been constantly going from JB to KL this few weeks and the need of getting a power bank are getting stronger. So I found this two brand (put aside Pineng, XiaoMi, YooBao PB) that seems almost all my friends recommended.
