My comp turns on for 5seconds and turns off

Sometimes I turn it on and it stays on for about three seconds then turns off then on for another three seconds sometimes the lights are very dim red and the fan barely spins and most of the time it doesn't even turn on. Will this happened to me about three month ago and one day it just started working normally but now its been broken for a while and I tried to fix the power button I seen that was the problem on some forums but that didn't work I tried a lot of things but nothing seems to work and just turned it off one day and it stopped working so i don't know if its the power source but just give me something to try please.

Hi Guy,

I am having a major headache on which mainboard i must go for. Please help, my requirement is as below.

- I am on amd 6400+ currently (need to be able to upgrade to Phenom in future)
- on ddr2 800 MHz ram 4GB at this point (need to be able to upgrade to DDR3 in future)
- my gaming requirement is not high - i.e Call of Duty 4 and SIM SOCIETY, yes SIM ahhahha

I am considering ASUS (1st choice) and MSI. my budget is about 500 to 800. Hopefully i can keep it around 500 mark. i dont mind sacrifice the ram upgrade. I think currently is 4gb is more than enough for me.

is ASUS M3A/ATI 770X/PCI-E 2.0/ Dul DDR2/V+SGbE/SataII/AM2+ ready (i have no idea what those means) or which MSI board i muct go for.

As for HDD any brand i should go for? Seagate, Samsung or Maxtor (looking around the 300GB mark)

your advice is MUCHLY appreciated.
