Comparing 3 of these mobos, which is the probably the best choice?

GIGABYTE P55-UD3P,
or ASUS P7P55D

Is there any particular difference between these two Asus models? Is it worth to pay extra another ~RM50?

I am planning to build a rig which is not for gaming and will not install any games but 3D rendering stuffs and will be running for 24/7 torrent.

I have been given 3 choice:
1. Dual E5405 + 4GB 800
2. Dual E5420 + 4GB 800
3. i7 920 + 6GB 1333

Money is not a factor so please don't compare price... Performance proof is what i want. I will be grateful if you rank these 3 choice 1,2,3 based on performance in multitasking and rendering and please don't ask me to wait for i5.

The use of Malay words in shortcuts and Indonesia slang such as ape, bole, idak, gak, ko and cam are hardly understandable. The trend starts with one guy posting in Malay and the following will post in Malay also. Each thread will have continues malay post and there will be may thread like that. This really ruin the image of LYN. It should be in English where all races are able to understand and not some Indonesia slang Malay.

I'm just suggesting that English should be standardize and put in to rules. A sticky/pinned thread is created to inform every member that English is the only language in LYN so that each and every member can understand every topic. Those who ignore it by posting in Malay or Chinese shall be taken into action to ensure others won't be repeating the same mistake.

*I'm not into racism problems or have particular hate against anyone, please don't flame me for that.

Recently, I have switched back from Vista to XP and I felt its kinda slow in XP (multitasking) which I never have problem before... I been wonder if XP supports quad since XP era no quad?

Quad VS. I7

Since the new technology of processor released, i7 to replace Core2 Processors, I been thinking whether if its the time to upgrade.

Although i7 requires 1366 sockets and DDR3 ram, the mobo will still will be replaced by other new mobo, for example from P35 to P45 now, which I will soon requires to replace the mobo again. Furthermore, I heard that i7's mobo still not stable.

About DDR3, there are also Core2 DDR3 mobos around which means its not a factor/reason to replace Core2 to i7.

I don't see why i7 is released so early when most applications does not support quads yet or just starting to support.

The only reason to replace quad to i7 is the Triple-channel DDR3 and of course its i7 which has different cores.

Lets not make a factor which why you choose i7 is because of the DDR3, I know many people would say
"Go for i7, DDR3 will replace DDR2" or something like that.

Summarize:

Pros:
1. Triple-channel DDR3
2. Faster

Cons:
Expensive
Still requires to replace mobo when time comes
Requires DDR3
Not stable
Non-OC-able (Maybe)

Lets say that if you want to upgrade, you would choose...

About stability, that's only true if you're using 12GB or 24GB of RAM. In those scenarios some of the X58 boards that are more OC focused may be unstable. With the usual 3GB or 6GB X58 is fine.
2. i7 DDR3 memory controller is integrated on the processor die. DDR3 performance under i7 is superior to DDR3 P45/X48 solutions.
3. Gamers are not really the target market for i7. i7 was built to shore up Intel's offerings in the server and workstation space. Because of that, some games run faster, some games run slower on i7. Games that run faster run faster due to the improved microarchitecture, whereas games that run slower run slower because of the smaller L2 cache.
As for applications not being multithreaded enough to take advantage of quad cores, that's not true. Professional applications are very multi-threaded. See how the i7 blows away C2Q and C2Q blows away C2D in these benchmarks:

4 and 5. Not true. i7 platform bandwidth is much superior to P45/X48. You can see this in the benchmarks with Dual-SLI GTX280 on X58 vs 790i, where SLI scales beautifully on X58.

Hi,

I need a computer which basically runs photoshop and some light gaming without OC-ing.

I have a few questions:

1. Is current AMD good for photoshop? Like Phenom 9950 BLK?
I have heard that current AMD is good for multi-tasking, so I wondered if it is good for photoshop.

2. Compare Phenom 9950 BLK to Quad Core, which Quad Core is Phenom 9950 BLK par with?

3. Will G31 motherboard affects the performance of Quad Core?
I'm thinking of G31 motherboard with Quad Core.

Higher watts better sound qulity and bass?

It can be in different type such as fan-fiction, teen, horror, etc., and classified in to rank like PG-13, All, G, 15+, 13+, etc. This section can help those who is not good in English or just want to share their imaginative stories.

Computer Science Major In AI or Software Eng?
