Bank charged crazy remittance fee

Hi guys, want to ask your opinion on something. I bought something from Alibaba and sent the money to their HSBC Hong Kong account. Amount transferred was USD31.50, PBB charged me RM32 for the outward remittance cost which I can accept. Today they informed me HSBC Hong Kong has charged me USD170 adjusted remittance for the USD31.50 that I have sent. When I essentially asked them WTF??? they say it could be because the amount I sent was low and that is why the fee was so high. Also they say it might be because they use an agent for foreign TT. I have asked they to query HSBC and send me a letter of something explaining the charge and is still waiting for their reply. Can anyone of you confirm that the charges are normal? It seems like daylight robbery to me.

Bank called back and said they made a mistake. It was 170 HKD and they charged us USD.

Does Celcom 3G/4G provide public IP?

Contract end 2018 but not paid 2017 bonus

My contract with my previous employer ended 31st July and they decide they will not retain my services because of business slowdown in my area. They are paying bonus this month based on 2017 performance but says that employees not with the company in August are not eligible. Employees appraisal starts at 1 being the best and I achieved a 2 last year. What pisses me off is they only paid a part of my salary last month and only pay the rest of my claims this month because of "accounting practices".

Do any of you guys know if there is anywhere in the labour law that states they have to pay my bonus for last year? Thanks.

Adding Hibernate button to the shutdown menu

There are two ways of enabling the Hibernate button in the shutdown menu.

The easy way would be to bring up the shutdown menu and pressing the Shift key, that way the Suspend button will turn into the Hibernate button, it will revert back to the Suspend button when you release the Shift key.

The second solution is to add a permanent Hibernate button to the shutdown menu.

1) Download the KB875506 update from Microsoft which is available here: [attachmentid=482830] The hotfix contain a newer version of msgina.dll(5.1.2600.2833) that is necessary to enable the Hibernation button. Then apply the registry changes as below

2) Open up regedit from the run menu and browse to the following key

3) Create a new key called "System" inside the key shown at step 2 by:
a) Right clicking the key shown at step 2
b) Select New - Key
c) Name the key "System" without the quotes.

4) Create a new key again called "Shutdown" inside the key shown at step 3 by:
a) Right clicking the key shown at step 3
b) Select New - Key

Note: If you installed Windows using the Windows installation CD supplied by your computer manufacturer, check if your msgina.dll is already updated. If it is newer than version 5.1.2600.2180, then you might be able to enable the Hibernation button by just applying the registry tweak without installing the hotfix.

Regarding Commercial Usage for AVS

The EULA explicitly states that AVS is only for personal and not for commercial usage. However according to yingfan from this thread, he has received a confirmation e-mail from AOL that AVS is also free for commercial use. I would like to point out that from a legal viewpoint, it would still be illegal to use AVS commercially unless AOL changes the EULA to reflect that. The matter has also been brought up in the Kaspersky forums in this thread and the answer is still a No.

My Own Humble Opinion
I have been using AVS for some time now and I'm very satisfied with it. To date I still haven't received any "promotional materials" from AOL or if I did, maybe it has already been filtered by Gmail's spam filter. AOL has said that it would change the EULA because of the controversy but that has yet to happen.

Regarding commercial usage, my take is that AOL would want the software to be used as much as possible even commercially but I think they won't change the EULA to reflect that because that would directly comes in conflict with Kaspersky's business. In short, I guess AOL won't take any actions if you're caught using AVS commercially but it's still a NO legally.

How to: Offline Installation for AVS Without Online Activation
Note: You still need to get the license key online first. This guide is for subsequent offline installation of AVS

1) Obtain an activation code from AVS via email.

2) Generate a license key using the activation code at https://activation.kaspersky.com/

3) The next time you install AVS, make sure the .key file is in the same location as AVS setup file. That way, it won't have to activate online.

ShadowSurfer is similar to Deep Freeze and Clean Slate. What it does is create a snapshot of the partition you want to protect and then run the partition in a protected mode. Then whenever you restart your pc it will be back to the way as when the snapshot is taken. This means that anything acquired under protected mode, e.g. spyware, adware, viruses, saved games, documents, bookmarks, movies, pics that you got during protected mode will be gone once you restart.

The software originally cost US29.95 but since they're running a promotion, you can get it totally free with a coupon code.

2) Scroll down the next page and click on "Buy Now". Make sure you only select 1 copy because the coupon is only valid for 1 copy per purchase.

I've been using this software for a month now and it's very good. What I do is set a system partition and another partition for my progs and other stuff. That way I only protect my system partition and leave the others open. It's very good at preventing my younger siblings from messing up my com. Of course you can't depend on it alone but it's a very good addition for system protection.

Do take note that it does not have a password protection feature so anyone can turn it on or off from the systray icon. It is geared towards the home market, that's why they're offering it for free.

To remove the shadowsurfer wallpaper when in protected mode, just delete the "sunotification" registry entry from HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run using whatever method you know.
