Help me list cars that fit these requirements

Hi there,

I'm building a list of car that fits the following criteria. Maybe will be useful when I look for next car... some day...

The criteria:
------------
1. Available in MY, new or used.
2. Manual transmission.
3. Have ABS.
4. Engine is using throttle cable, not Drive by Wire.
5. Cost no more than RM30k to purchase
6. Not a commercial vehicle, pickup truck, or van.
7. Not a 2 door car.

The list of car fits criteria above so far
-------------------------------------
Nissan Sentra N16
Proton Waja 1.6 MMC
First and 2nd gen Myvi
First gen Alza
Mercedes-Benz 230 E

Perdana V6 vs Inspira 1.8

Hoping forumer who experienced both car below can share some opinion here.

- Perdana V6 (PV6) manual conversion
- Inspira 1.8 manual

I'm currently driving a 2008 Swift Sport, my first sporty car. I like the drive and manual gearbox, but the ride is harsh on poor condition road. After thinking deeply, what I want is actually a comfortable manual car. So after research a bit, including maintenance, car age, and parts availability, end up with the 2 car above.

What I wanna know is:

1. How comfortable is PV6 compare to Inspira? In term of NVH and ride quality. Because after all PV6 is base on 1992 Mitsubishi Eterna, while Inspira base on 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer.

2. How is the manual gear shift quality for PV6? Below are my experience:

Good: Swift Sport 2008, Inspira 1.8 (Short throw, accurate shift gate, solid feel when shift)
Acceptable: Wira 1.3 (Long throw, accurate shift gate, ok feel when shift)
Poor: Kelisa 1.0 (Long throw, shift gate acceptable but gear stick too loose even in gear, grinding feel and sound when shift)
Terrible: 2nd Gen Saga 1.3 (super long throw, not accurate shift gate (easily mis-shift into 3rd gear when you want 5th), grinding feel and sound when shift)

Thanks.

Rucking

Hi there,

Rucking is basically walking with weight, usually a bag with stuff in it to add weight. I walk a lot to work and home, minimum 2+km every weekday. I'm thinking to improve my fitness by adding more resistance to my usual walk, start from 5kg upward to 20kg or more. I do go to gym sometime, but don't have that much time and lazy sometime. So if I can walk and exercise at the same time, it's great!

Anyone doing this already? Where to get the right backpack or even weight plate for it, at least in Klang Valley?

Anyone tried the GORUCK backpack with their weight plate below?
GoRuck

Owning a 2nd hand 2008 Swift Sport

This is an owner's opinion on owning a second hand manual 2008 Suzuki Swift Sport (ZC31S).

For driving enthusiast in Malaysia, there are not many choice for an affordable and fun manual car. So for those who is considering a ZC31S, can refer to my experience below.

I bought a manual 2008 ZC31S in 2017 for RM33k on the road. The car had 80k on odometer, unmodified, and is officially brought in by Suzuki Malaysia back then.
It is the facelift version, most notably change is the engine redline raise to 7000rpm. A taller 1st gear and shorter final drive for manual gearbox. So when cruising at 100km/h in 5th gear, engine RPM is 3500 (before facelift is 3300RPM).

Coming from Kelisa, ZC31S feels a lot more planted and solid. But surprisingly, practicality is only slightly better than Kelisa, especially the boot space which is only slightly bigger. There is a boot separator, if you fold or remove it will give you a deeper boot space. There is no pocket behind the driver and passenger seat, which is weird because the normal Swift has it.

The ZC31S does not come with spare tire, because the boot space become shallower to accommodate the twin exit exhaust. It only has tire repair kit.
The manual gearbox is very nice to use. The gear stick shift throw is short and accurate, at least when compare to Kelisa. All 5 forward gear are close ratio, you can even go uphill using 5th gear at about 50km/h!
The clutch feedback feel nice and easy to modulate. There is a noticeable throttle lag when compare to Kelisa, which is really annoying, luckily after market have fix for it.
The car has a bit of rattling noise from front suspension when going through bad road, some rattling from driver side mirror. It's acceptable for me.

ZC31S accept minimum RON95, recommend RON98. Below are my experience with different RON fuel:
RON95 (less power, better FC O_o )
RON97 (better power, poorer FC)
RON100 (same like RON97, but feel even more powerful after ECU reflash, I could be wrong)
VPower Racing (same like RON97)

My average FC is 13.5km/l or 7.4l/100km, with RRP fifth gear and using RON97.

On with the list of parts repair or replacement done within a year of owning it. I skip those regular wear and tear stuffs like spark plugs and transmission fluid.
Engine mounting
Oil filter housing O ring
Front suspension mounting
Front stabiliser bush
Thermostat housing (Corroded and leaking due to previous owner run ONLY WATER in cooling system!)
Coolant hose T Joint (Same as above)
Rear shock absorber (Replace with Kayaba Excel G, original Monroe is too expensive)
O2 sensor (both top and bottom, used unit)
Exhaust manifold (Top O2 sensor stuck, so gotta replace too, used unit)
Reverse sensor (Botch paint job sprayed over the original reverse sensor, render it useless!)
Magnetic Clutch Kit (Keep blowing fuse hence no cold air. The magnet insulation has cracked)
Blower fan (Was noisy, so replace it)
Reinstall windshield (Leaking due to previous poor fitting)

Cost about RM3600 for all above including the workmanship incurred.

Modification done:
RRP Reinforced Fifth High Gear Kit (Replace original fifth gear. Lower 500RPM from original gear, less noisy at highway. Recommended if frequent highway drive.)
RRP Super ROM Version 2 ECU reflash (Eliminate throttle lag, stronger low and mid RPM performance, raise redline to 7800RPM. FC same. Definitely recommended!!)
Ultra Racing Front Strut Bar (Used, don't feel much different maybe because I'm not hardcore corner freak)

So if you decide to get one, there's a strong community on FB too. Parts are easy to get too. So worry not.

First Gen Mazda 6 2002-07

Hi There,

Is the first gen Mazda 6 worth to get? Saw a guy selling his hatchback 2.3 manual (very rare), I really like the styling and the first gen was much sportier than 2nd and 3rd gen.

So the questions is:
1. Parts sure is gonna be expensive and hard to get. Is there any shop carrying these Mazda parts?

2. Any known issue on this model?

3. Recommendation on workshop that know these model in Klang Valley?

Never saw a first gen Mazda 6? Yeah, because Mazda only sold 470+ unit in Malaysia.

First Gen Mazda 6 Detail

Thanks.

Mitsubishi 170HP ECU for Perdana V6?

Hi All,

Just for discussion. As we know the Perdana V6 is around 145hp. There seems to be a version of the engine with 170hp, just with different ECU from Mitsubishi. The engine spec still the same with the local Perdana, without MIVEC.

So, is it possible to get that Mitsubishi ECU and just plug into Perdana V6? Instant HP upgrade?

Source:
6A1 Series Engine
Apps that turn phone into proper camera

Hi guys,

Is there an Android Apps out there to transform smartphone into competent camera? What I meant is the Apps will:

1. Able to start/wake the phone in camera mode, with preferred shooting mode (e.g. in B&W or Shutter Priority).

2. Provide fast access to adjust shutter speed, aperture, ISO... etc. Either through screen or button (the apps overwrite some button function such as volume rocker).

3. Able to suppress shutter sound. Certain phone model have shutter sound that cannot be turn off.

4. In phone RAW processing, maybe this is too much to ask, but sure is good to have.

My thought is to make my phone into a street shooter, fast and discreet.

RRP Reinforced 5th High Gear Kit

The first generation Swift Sport (ZC31S) is brilliant in almost every way (better looking than ZC32S too, personal opinion). Except it need RON 98 and it has high RPM cruising speed.

I found this high ratio 5th gear from a Singapore Swift club, detail are here:

SG Swift Club Thread

R's Racing Service Product Page

This high ratio 5th gear (0.769) will drop 500 RPM compare to standard 5th gear (0.885). So 5th gear RPM at 100km/h will drop from 3430 to 2930.

Why do you want to have taller ratio 5th gear??
1. Lower RPM, lower FC.
2. Quieter cabin.
3. Higher top speed (for those SPEED DEMON )

Any ZC31S owner had installed this? Which shop did installation and how much is the cost?

Satria Neo R3 or DC5 Integra Type S?

I am looking for a good affordable manual driver's car, daily use, budget not more than RM50k, not into hardcore type like Type R. So I ended up with top 2 car. I want to collect more info before I make a decision.

Satria Neo CPS R3 (ver 2013)
Pros
- Around RM30k+ can get.
- Shifter feel alright, not short throw but firm and precise (tried on a non-CPS 1.6).
- Sharp handling. (All review praise it)
- Nice exterior design.

Cons
- Slow acceleration for a 3 door sporty hatch.
- Terrible dashboard, gear stick, and steering wheel design (personal opinion).
- Poor build quality. (Base on my perception, but is it still true for 2013 model?)
- Ah Beng / Ricer image. (True?)

DC5 Integra Type S
Pros
- Rare on the road.
- Proven build quality and K20 engine.
- Fantastic dashboard design (personal opinion).

Cons
- Almost RM50k for a 11 years old car.
- Car theft magnet (still true?)
- Parts might be hard to find.

So what do you guys think? What did I miss?

Oh ya, below are cars unlikely in my consideration anymore:
Celica ZZT230 (1ZZ) - Almost impossible to find one un-modded.
CR-Z - Rear seat completely useless.
Swift Sport ZC31S - 3430rpm @ 100km/h and RON98, not suit for daily drive.

Suzuki Malaysia website shown an announcement that they are merging with Proton. All Suzuki show room will be converted to Proton's.

The big question is, can we still get new Suzuki cars? I'm really interested in the Swift Sport.
Hi there,

I'm curious on the 'standard' size of futsal court. According to most it is 25m in length and 15m in width minimum. Is it true? Is there futsal court with smaller dimension than 25 x 15?

I'm asking this is because my friend and I planned to opened one.
How to avoid blown head gasket

Story time.

My friend's Myvi recently encounter a blown head gasket at mileage 170,000km. He got the worst type where coolant mix with the engine oil, resulting in overheat and a hefty bill (RM3000+ ) to overhaul the engine head.

Question is, should we do preventive maintenance to avoid head gasket failure?

Should we replace the head gasket at certain mileage? Maybe like every 150,000km?
