Looking for a business/company based in Port Klang

As per my topic above, I have a few questions in mind to ask and to better understand the working environment in Port Klang, specifically in the maritime sector (more specifically, ship owner/ship management operations within Port Klang, along with supporting marine technical services and ship chandling).

If by any chance, there is anyone that is kind enough to share your knowledge about the abovementioned areas, please do drop me a private message. I would love to connect up, discuss and explore possible working collaborations. Thank you.

Get together, get started, get funded

There are people with good ideas and the passion to get things moving,
there are people with the ability to structure up plans and get things done,
and there are people with the resources to glue everyone together and get everything started.

More often than not, you have a great idea but lack a team and money. Or perhaps you are technically inclined but haven't gotten your big break yet. Or maybe you just want to work with people with a similar drive as yourself.

I am thinking of having some meetups in May 2010 specifically for putting together 1.) people with a groundbreaking idea that they wish to startup on and 2.) for people with skillsets to bring to the table (ie. technical, design, marketing, operations, clients) and come together to actually make things happen. On my part, I am looking to invest in the teams I believe in by contribution of time, resources, connections and money.

I am tentatively going to be in Malaysia on the following dates:

Saturday 22 May 2010 - Kuala Lumpur (afternoon), Perak (evening)
Sunday 23 May 2010 - Penang
Monday 24 May 2010 - Perak (afternoon), Kuala Lumpur (evening)

Please indicate your interest if you wish to meet up, specifically the day and location of which you will be at. Thanks!

I would be in Kuala Lumpur this Friday to Sunday (22 - 24 May 2009) and would like to have an open two-way discussion over coffee over the topic:

Why 90% of wannabe/actual Malaysian entrepreneurs WILL fail within a year

My points of discussion would be:

1. Is the immaturity of Malaysian entrepreneurs in the area of business caused by the education system?
2. Is the selfishness of Malaysian entrepreneurs the result of wrong perceptions observed in the market?
3. Is the naiveness of Malaysian entrepreneurs the result of seeing business as a plaything?

My objectives are:

1. To confirm my observations of Malaysian entrepreneurs shortcomings.
2. To determine the way of which these shortcomings can be properly addressed.
3. To learn more about the Malaysian entrepreneurial culture.

I would like to meet up with Malaysians that:

1. Have something to share and talk about this topic; no silent lurkers and MLMers please.
2. Are also fellow entrepreneurs, soon-to-be entrepreneurs, young entrepreneurs and investors; good to hear from what's happening on the ground.
3. Want to do something constructive on a Friday evening.

Tentatively, these are the details:

Date/Time: 22 May 2009, 7 - 10pm
Location: Pavilion Starbucks, Kuala Lumpur
Contact details: Nicholas, 018388 5695 (Handphone will be on from 22 May morning onwards only)

For those that don't expect to turn up, FFK or whatever, PLEASE don't waste my time by posting you will turn up in this thread. Thank you.

Have you heard of Cashflow 101 Game popularised by Robert Kiyosaki (author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad)? It is one of the only game that can make you rich! To be more precise, it is a board game that educates YOU on the concepts of investing in assets, by learning the methods of having your money work for you while increasing your financial literacy for your preparation for your future financial freedom. With so much benefits in playing a game, it is no suprise why this board game became so popular among many working professionals, entrepreneurs and young students today.

Project:Senso is an entrepreneurs network and startup organization originally started from Singapore and officially launching in Malaysia on Medeka Day.
Want to be a high-technology entrepreneur?

As some of you would know, I have been meeting up with some entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs over the past few months, all thanks to posting here on lowyat.net @ http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/637792

I have seen my fair share of talk-only people, and my fair share of truly good people, both entrepreneurs and soon-to-be entrepreneurs in KL during my trips and I feel that I can and should do more to help boost up the standard of entrepreneurship in Malaysia. One of which is the formation of Project: Senso Malaysia chapter, a non-profit entrepreneur volunteer organization, of which some details are already in my previous thread.

The other areas I aim to help on is more direct, to actually help get people started as entrepreneurs. Forget about all the rubbish of MLM (Red Island, Mobile Wallet, Amway), Ponzi (Sunshine Empire, SwissCash), Unit Trust/Financial Services, Car Wash/Tyre Shops. I am talking REAL startups in the likes of YouTube and Google. I know what you would be thinking:

Q: I don't know what potentially powerful ideas to work on!
A: Azione Capital have access to over 8,000 patents and products in Malaysia and Singapore if you are more of a "lego builder" type entrepreneur, or if you have key skillsets such as programming or perhaps marketing, Azione Capital has a library of market opportunities and clients to work on.

Q: I don't have a team to work with!
A: Azione Capital have resources and networks to tap within for certain skillsets, expertise and personnel. What matters most is the entrepreneur that holds everything together no matter what.

Q: You are going to steal all my shares!
A: A fair shareholding matches a fair contribution. Azione Capital does not aim to hold a majority share in the startups we work with, rather we look at the value provided to grow our investments.

Q: The government is giving me free money! Why should I need you?
A: If money is all that matters to you and your business sucess, then you should not even bother contacting us. Our contribution comes in the form of contact, clients, advise and market access; these intangible assets makes the difference between a success and a "has been".

I am calling onto anyone who has a good idea, or even if you don't have a good idea but you are willing to fight hard, in the areas of Interactive Digital Media (ie. Location Based Services on mobile, Web 2.0 type services, interactive TV, cross-technology integration) to drop me a mail at nicholas@azionecapital.com

Please DO NOT drop me a mail for chit chat or brainstorming on your idea, you can do that in the http://www.projectsenso.com forums. Do email me only when you have something definitive and that you know you WILL actually startup your business. As mentioned, I will be in Malaysia from 17 - 19 May so if you wish to brainstorm or chat, we can do that during the time I am present.

Entrepreneur meetup on 18 May 2008

As the subject states, the 3rd Entrepreneur meetup organized by me is during the upcoming long weekend. Full details on the original thread here.

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/637792/+120

Date/Time: 18 May, 7pm - 9pm
Venue: 1-Utama, Petaling Jaya

The proposed meeting agenda this time round is as follows:

1.) The formal establishment of a proper entrepreneur support group in KL (Project:Senso KL chapter) with the kind support of Carine and Emily, that regularly meets up to provide assistance to each other and to others (charities and social enterprises).

2.) General catch up and chit chat session on market opportunities within Malaysia.

3.) Serious exploration of possible Singapore-Malaysia joint ventures, particularly in high technology (interactive digital media, maritime, etc).

Additionally, if you are a technical guy/gal looking to be part of a startup, or wanting to explore your own startup idea, come on over!

Please reply to the original thread, I just posted this because the system keeps adding to the previous post rather than coming up with a new post so the thread never gets bumped up.
