PETALING JAYA: Even before a new prime minister can be named, former deputy federal territories minister Edmund Santhara has said he will hold Pakatan Harapan (PH) accountable for its manifesto.

Although he is no longer part of the government, Santhara said he is still the Segamat MP and will ensure that PH fulfills its promises if it is returned to power.

“I hope they will not neglect their responsibilities for the second time, if the PH government returns,” the former PKR member who joined Bersatu last year said in a Facebook post.

Santhara said lack of finances should not be used as an excuse, claiming that more than 15 of PH’s 25 manifesto promises for the Indian community did not require money for implementation.

“I will be a responsible opposition MP if PH becomes the government again. I remain loyal to PN (Perikatan Nasional),” he said.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin Yassin and his Cabinet tendered their resignations to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong after losing majority support.

Istana Negara said Muhyiddin would remain as caretaker prime minister until his successor is appointed.

Party leaders are having an audience with the King this afternoon to state their views on forming a new government.

Dewan Rakyat speaker Azhar Azizan Harun has also instructed each MP to submit a statutory declaration (SD) of their support for a ninth prime minister candidate by 4pm tomorrow.

PH leaders ‘called to palace’ over new government

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan leaders have been told to prepare for an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to state their views on who should lead the next government following the collapse of the Perikatan Nasional government today.

An opposition leader who did not want to be named said leaders of coalition partners PKR, DAP and Amanah were told today about the impending meeting,

No details were available on when they would be called to the palace. FMT is seeking confirmation of the meeting from Istana Negara officials.

In February and March last year, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had previously carried out a series of consultations with political party leaders following the resignation of Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government.

A new government was formed by Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin and his allies in the Perikatan Nasional coalition. Muhyiddin resigned as prime minister along with his Cabinet today after finding that he had lost his parliamentary majority.

Among those speculated to succeed Muhyiddin are his cabinet deputy Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who is an Umno vice-president, as well as Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who is PH chairman and PKR president, is the main opposition candidate; however, he would need the support of Mahathir and Warisan chief Mohd Shafie Apdal to stand a chance.

My mattress(unbranded) sink in after 3 years of use. I'm in the market for a new one and have a budget max around 2.5k(not bangsawan, dont flame me).

Medium firmness if can. I sleep on the side and mostly lying upwards.

Some pointers will be : Pocket Springs(multi level), Cool, Supportive and does not sink after few year of use.

If you guys have any recommendation do let me know. Not a fan of the Sonno/Origin models.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 — Sungai Besar Umno division chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos, who was remanded at the Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital here, has fled from police custody.

It was learnt that the controversial 48-year-old Umno politician was found missing from his hospital bed at 5.30pm, just as Shah Alam Court assistant registrar Rahasbiah Abd Rahman was about to bail him under Section 268 of the Penal Code for creating public nuisance.

A police source said Jamal was found missing by the assistant registrar upon her arrival at the hospital ward.

“Only the suspect’s lawyer and guarantor were at the hospital ward, while there was no sign of police personnel standing guard at his ward,” said the source to Malay Mail tonight.

The source said initial investigations revealed that Jamal had not been seen in his hospital ward since 3pm.

“Subsequently, police have mounted a manhunt in an operation called “Ops Tutup” at 7.12pm to locate the suspect who fled before his bail was granted.

“We have put out an all-points bulletin (APB) to all police stations and units to locate for the suspect,” said the source.

Earlier this morning, Jamal had claimed trial to committing public nuisance by smashing bottles of alcoholic drinks in a symbolic protest to a beer festival in front of the Selangor State Secretariat building in Shah Alam on October 5 last year.

He was charged at the Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital’s premium ward before Shah Alam court magistrate Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldin, who was accompanied by an interpreter and a police investigation officer.

The charge was read out at 10.45am.

Raja Noor Adilla then set bail at RM3,000 pending mention on June 8 at the Shah Alam magistrate’s court.
