early-mid 30s here with a few execs under my supervision. For the past few months, this one junior exec (mid 30s slightly older than me) engaged with me in a small project. So, we work together quite often & of course there were some non-work related conversations in between. But i always kept my boundaries.

Fast forward a few months, she told me she liked me and I politely & nicely turned down the proposal. Despite every effort to make it okay & friendly, i know rejection hurts and I hurt her.

Things were never the same afterwards. My secretary (the only person in this world who knows about this) told me she is now very heartbroken, depressed, embarrased and even considering to request for transfer of department or resign from the company.

Im the type who motivates my staff and our department scored of of the top in happiness index. Honestly, im very concerned with her well being. If im being too concerned, im afraid that it might pass as “giving hope”.. I understand some people are okay to be friends after breakup but some are not. But in this case, she is my staff & its totally awkward now she wont even look at me in the eye.

A colleague wishes to sell a car. A honda city year 2017. Owned by his father who recently passed away at 85.

The car mileage is very low at around 5,000km only. Everything is factory and only being driven around the neigborhood. The last time it was driven was early this year / late last year. It was parked under the porch when the owner’s health deteriorated since Jan this year.

Ive checked the car, just like a brand new car but there are people saying that old underutilised cars / cars left sitting for a very long time are not good. The 5-year warranty has ended. Is it a risky purchase?

ive heard and read a lot from social media people who earns 20k - 50k - 100k driving cheap cars like wira, iswara, myvi, axia or even kancil. encountered this topic in media so many times over few decades.

i personally love cars and with that, i cant escape 'matching' the car with the owners. i love to observe cars around me especially in my workplace(s). after being in few large corporations, here are my observation.

- top tier super level: 50k & above: usually will drive or be driven in large cars: mercedes s-class, bmw 7-series, range rover sport/normal, bmw x5, or chauffeured vellfire/alphard. some prefer smaller cars such as mercedes e-class or bmw 5-series. most of them have sports car usually typical porsche 911 or its smaller stablemates.

- top tier: 20 - 50k: usually will drive new mercedes e-class or bmw 5-series. some / quite a number chose smaller alternatives such as mercedes c-class, bmw 3-series, audi a4/a5, mercedes glc suv, bmw x3. there are quite a number of volvo too s90, xc60, xc40 and even one or two xc90. Some (usually conservative type or older people) will drive honda accord, honda crv, toyota camry, toyota rav4, lexus ES or RX, toyota vellfire/alphards.

- mid tier: 10 - 20k: almost same as above. mostly mercedes c-class, bmw 3-series, vw passat, tiguan or larger japanese / korean cars such as toyota camry / harrier, honda accord / cr-v, recond japanese minivans, hyundai santa fe, tucson, kia sorento, carnival & sportage. there are many honda civic & toyota corolla too. many proton X70 drivers are from this level as well.

- lower mid tier: 5 - 10k: myriads of honda city, civic, hr-v, toyota corolla, vios, yaris, ch-r, proton x50, and cars that were mentioned above. very small number of entry level luxury brands like mercedes A-class, BMW 1-series, Audi A3. this is the widest spectrum.

- lower tier: below 5k: same as above but includes larger pool of economy cars like perodua myvi, proton persona/saga and others.

Exceptions from usual stereotype:

- mid & top tiers driving old cars. encountered a number of them. however, the cars are not necessarily cheap because it was expensive when new decades ago. from my experience:

= top tiers driving old volvo / bmw / mercedes / jaguar cars (current value is less than 10k) - pretty sure they were bought new 10-20 years ago. they were not cheap back then. these people are not necessarily cheapskate or thrifty. some of them just love the old designs & the mechanical overall feeling. plus, the maintenance gets higher as the car ages too.

= mid tiers driving old Ssangyong Rexton suv / toyota camry / honda accord (current value is less than 10k) - these cars was not cheap when new too.

= any tiers driving hobby cars. For example, a nicely refurbished / well-kept mitsubishi galant VR4 and honda accord CL1, prelude, older BMW coupes, or even a mini cooper from the 80s. They dont look shabby and cheap maintain or refurbish.

TLDR: from my observation, majority people will buy a car that fits nicely with their income, corporate position & social status / social standing. In the past decade, I have only seen 1 or 2 high income folks driving Axia/Myvi. So where are these people? Im assuming these people have high income but no corporate position & good social standing/class. Correct me if im wrong

Car ownership change

My cousin is currently stranded in America & cant return to Malaysia. He wants to sell his car in Malaysia for immediate cash as his business is not doing well there. I have found him a buyer who is ready to pay for the car in cash. However, since the owner is abroad, change of name is not possible. He will only return somewhere September (not yet confirmed). Any idea how to go about this?

About car loan

Hi, im planning to sell my car still under loan around 100k++. Selling price is around the same price. Got potential buyer interested & applied for a loan.

He said bank wont approve his loan because my car is still under loan. This is weird because ive sold my car many times before under loan. New buyer’s loan will settle my outstanding loan & the remaining went into my account.

Anyone can confirm this or are there any new procedure or bank ruling on this?

Car mileage adjustment

Hi, my car's speedometer recently broken. So i change half cut meter and the mileage is different now. Anyone knows where to adjust the meter? Its a digital meter from honda city. I know many used car dealers got kaki. But anyone got direct contact?

Hi, a colleague of mine wants to sell his VW Passat CC & offered me quite interesting price. However, I am worried about several things since there has been issues with VW especially its DSG & TSI engine.

The car is year 2013, mileage around 50,000 kms. Got few years warranty left. Outlook is great, just like a new car. Owner claimed that the car is running good without any problem. It's a 1.8 TSI model with 7 speed DSG.

I read from many forums, some said only 1.4 TSI + DSG is problematic but not the 1.8 TSI with DSG. Some said the previous version of Passat CC with 2.0 is better than the 1.8TSI. Not sure how far this is true. any comments?

Happen for so long already. So many ppl like to go to vegetable & fruits section of tesco, aeonbig, giant, jaya & eat as much as they want.. Especially small fruits like grapes!! Simply pluck n eat n didnt buy also. Even worse, parent + kids all enjoying fruits like buffet

Saga blm 1.3 first gen

Hi, i have one saga blm 1.3 iafm auto 2008 model. Recently the car caught in flood with engine on & it never starts again. Brought to mechanic & he suggested change to a used engine 1.6 (gen 2) engine.

Need advice on:
- which engine is better? Is it the 1.6 campro from gen 2 or persona?
- is it true that 1.3 iafm engine is very hard to find in the used market?
- is flood covered under insurance? (Car is worth around 14-15k only, mechanic told me cost to change engine is around 5000++, is this logical?)

Btw, the car is driven by my staff.

Anyone here got similar experience?

Questions about CVT/engine

I have this 7 years honda city idsi (flowerhorn facelift). Around 90,000km mileage. recently i was driving on highway during heavy rain, the car suddenly loses acceleration while on 115km/h, rpm went high engine siddenly rev loudly, but no power when floor the pedal.. After around 1 minute the power came back.. I thought its something to do with the gearbox but still not sure.. Btw this thing happened twice. Anyone having the same problem?
