Need recommendation

Hi all
i want to build a workstation(will upgrade to gaming pc soon) and a File server(with FlexRaid), and i need some advice, recommendation, tips.. anything that could help me building these 2 rig.

For my file server(*hybrid* T_T) i have 2 build build in my mind but dont know which one is the best in term of power consumption

Intel build
MSI Intel H61MA-E35 B3 *rm 270*
Celeron G440(1.6ghz single Core) *rm 145*
4Gb ram *rm 64*
Total=Rm 480

Amd Build
MSI AMD 760G-P33 *rm 180*
Sempron 140(2.7 Single Core)*rm 108*
Athlon II X2 250 (3.0 Dual Core)*rm 193*
4gb ram *rm64*
Total=Rm 353@Rm 438

Note:This server will run on Windows 7 and i already have a PSU and HDD, for casing... a box is fine too... T_T
2nd Note: I want to use this server as my NAS(the mobo must have atlease 4 to 6 sata port, i will utilize my old pendrive as boot drive), torrent download, normal HTTP download, have atlease 1 or 2 pci-e x1 slot for adding Sata card,
and.... as audio mixer,

YES an audio mixer, this mobo said it have flexi sumthing audio port, which it mean it could reroute the audio signal even we wrongly connect it*eg, speaker to mic port?* thus, 5 or more 3.5 jack is mandatory, i want to connect 4 audio source and mix it into 1 out.
Sound stupid but i done it age ago with meh GA m68sm-s2l audio driver and now win 7 allow us to listen any audio source from mic or line in effortlessly. But the question is, could MSI do the same?
and i know, if i choose cheaper H61 mobo, the setup will totally reap the AMD one*in term of power consumption*, but.. Y NO U Got 6 audio jack ha?

oh yea, MSI AMD E350IA-E44 Fusion CPU is a good choice too, with low power consumption but too few sata and 1 single pci-e, not worth it..

For my Workstation*will upgrade it to gaming pc*
(mainly for Photoshop,Paint Tool Sai,movie, Internet, some light gaming and PS2X emulation)

As the Ps2x demand a good proc (plus Photoshop will run awesomely smooth on it too)
a i5 2500k is a mandatory T_T

Here is my Build
i5 2500k *rm 650*
4gb ram *rm 75*

For motherboard, i favor the z68 chipset because the Lucid Virtu stuff, i want the Quick sync yet the power of my HD 5750 too

i keep thinking about
Asrock z68 extreme 4 *rm 630* (offer PLX chip, 8 sata, SLI)
Asrock z68 extreme 3 *rm 489* ( No PLX?, 6 sata, SLI support)
Asus P8Z68-V *rm 630* (offer BT on board,SLI, better overclock power than Asrock)

asrock one seem have more feature than asus, but asus have the power in overclock and i heard i could get a good price if i plan to sell this mobo.
Plus, i plan to upgrade this baby with SLI, Y No U Cheap Cheap mobo support Nvidia SLI ha?
but, some say, it wiser to slap in a gtx580 then SLI gtx 560, could save some cash on mobo too..
tried to keep buget under rm 1.2k but fail miserably.. T_T

p/s: Buget for my workstation is rm1.2k, buget for server somewhere rm 500 or less..

Your hard drive has serious problems you'll have to try to solve in order to, most importantly, recover your files, and repair your hard drive to it again as usual.

Immediately click the Cancel button.
Right-click the Computer icon on the Start menu or desktop and click Manage.
In the window of Computer Management, scroll down to Storage and click Disk Management.
The list of drives connected to your computer appears. Among them, your hard disk is now reluctant. This means that it works and is recognized by the system.
However, its file system is shown as RAW, is to say raw data unreadable by Windows.

TestDisk is a free software that will allow you to help recover lost partitions and repair the partition table corrupt your hard drive. You can download TestDisk from here.

Once the download is complete, click the Open button.
Click Extract all files.
In the wizard that opens, click the Extract button.
Open the folder testdisk-****.
Then open the folder win.
Double click on the file so testdisk_win.exe.

Analyse your hard drive:

TestDisk can check the structure of the partition table of your hard drive to locate all partitions, even those who have disappeared.

With the arrow keys, select Create and press the Enter key.
Your hard drives are then detected and listed. With arrows, select the disk that you are unable to access and press Enter.
Testdisk automatically detects the type of the partition table of your hard drive. Press Enter.
Select the scan option and press the Enter key to verify the structure of the partition table.
Press Enter.
If the partitions have been created on Windows Vista, Windows 7 or if in doubt, press the Y button.
The partitions found on the disk are displayed.
Select Write to write the new partition table.
Select the partition which has disappeared from Windows and press the p key. The list of folders and files on the disc is displayed.

Recover files:

With TestDisk, you can easily access the contents of a RAW partition even if it is not available under Windows. It is thus possible to recover all your files and put them in a safe place on another hard drive.

To save a folder and all its contents to another hard disk, select it and press the c button.
Select a folder on another drive and press the Y button. Note that the file .. you will get into the folder tree.
Press the Y button.
The selected folder and all its content is copied and placed in secure location on another disk drive. Copy the message thus indicates that the copy is complete.
Repeat for other folders and files to backup and then press the Esc key or Q.
If all the partitions appear to be much missing from the list, select Write to rewrite the partition table.
Press the Y button to confirm.
Then press Enter and restart your computer.

Recreate the boot sector:

The problem may be your server's boot partition is corrupted. TestDisk will allow you to repair it.

Select Advanced and press Enter.
Select the partition RAW, move the slider to boot and press Enter.
Select Rebuild BS and press the Enter key.
Confirm the restoration of the backup boot sector by pressing the Y button.
At the end of the transaction, your boot sector is repaired. Select Quit and press Enter.
Then restart your computer to verify that your score is no longer blocked in RAW.

Recreate the partition:

If, despite the previous manipulations, your hard disk is locked in RAW, the last solution is to delete the partition and recreate recalcitrant. Well, so be sure to get all the files you need by following the instructions of his step Recover files. Once you've backed up your files in a safe place, you can use the freeware GParted partitioning to recreate the partition.

At first, create a bootable CD GParted, following the explanations of our file, partitioning a hard drive with Windows XP (it works of course with all versions of Windows). You will need to download GParted Live , Burn the ISO of GParted Live on a CD and Booting the Live CD of GParted .

In GParted, click the right mouse button on the recalcitrant partition and click Delete.
The partition is removed. Then click the right mouse button on the unallocated space that appears at the site and click New.
Scroll File System and select NTFS.
Reduce if necessary the size of the partition (for leaving the unallocated space to create a second) and click the Add button.
Then click the Apply button.
All data on the partition will be deleted. You must be sure that I saved your important files with testdisk. Confirm the operation by clicking Apply.
Finally, click on Close. The partition of your hard drive is no longer in RAW, is a virgin and is usable again.

And How to kill your hard disk :- from my experience too

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Our forum member already post a way to kill hard diskThe pinned 8 way to kill HDD thread
But from my experience, my hard disk decide to kill it self when the it become too hot, my room temperature normally at 32 degree C and 36.C max!(my room in the house loteng, nuffsaid )
I lost my 2.5" 320gb hard disk due to this.. if im wrong, kindly correct me..
All started with this problem,

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

my friend tried the Uncle Gates BitLocker, and he lost those damm key,
i dont know where did he found the recovery method and when i ask him he said he forgot soo i cant explain the cause of problem is.
the recovery method need a external hard drive to make a 100% image copy of the locked partition,
for anyone who want to try to do this kind of recovery,
WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, PLEASE MAKE A FRESH PARTITION WITH EXACT SIZE OF THE LOCKED PARTITION
My 90gb partition become his 40gb partition,
i mean my 90gb become 40gb! well where the rest of 50gb?
Need Recommendation

Hi guys,
Its me again, recently i just bought Edifier C3, got it from AEON Jusco,
I need some recommendation in choosing sound card, my C3.. well like the other C3, got weak bass..
Already try the Bro nismo91 How to get MOAR BASS, but still cant satisfy my boom boom bass i looking for.

Then I try a miniUSB DAC from Slevin Sent

it do increase my bass, but just a little, perhaps my song is small? 192kbps mp3 average.

then i stumble upon on these thread.
and they recommend to get some of these sound card.

QUOTE(andrew9292 @ Nov 29 2009, 09:48 PM)

Not too sure about the pricing of sound cards

Try not to get these:
( some of these are actually using old chipset from older cards like Audigy, just using a redesigned board and change few other stuff, they are not worth getting ) BUT, they will be better than your onboard of course by quite a margin.

Not Recommended:
X-Fi XtremeAudio
X-Fi XtremeGamer
-ANY of the low-profile X-Fis

Recommended cards:
Creative-
X-Fi Elite Pro
X-Fi Fatal1ty / Fatal1ty FPS
X-Fi Platinum
X-Fi XtremeMusic (best value)

Asus-
Asus Xonar series ( Essence, U1, D2, D2X etc )

*Recommendation based on sound quality. Factors like gaming performance (FPS increase/Smoothness) not included.

The question is, between X-fi XtremeMusic and X-Fi Titanium, which one is better in term of performance? or is my usb DAC is good enough and its just my ear cant differentiate the audio quality?
