License for Cyber/Games Cafe

Hi guys,

How can I obtain a license to open one? Plan to open in Klang....

I've already arranged PC prices and quotes from SmoothCreations USA for their LANSHARK EXTREME systems.

I just need to give them the go ahead after getting the license.

....Also, need your comments on following points?

1) All cyber cafes will have to close by midnight daily and operate only from the ground floor of buildings? Is this true?

2) All cyber cafes banned from other co-business activities, including having games, gambling, pornography, music and publications with negative elements. Is this true?

3) Someone approached me for a license transfer (the owner is planning to sell license). Is this advisable and what is the market value?

I read points 1&2 in an article from Star. Are they being followed?

Dear All,

Hi! I'm an Engineer getting a RM2K salary. I've been on the job close to a year now.

I'm planning to invest on real estate....preferably apartments for student/small family rentals. Basically, this is to enhance some passive income.

Since I'm a newbie....I need some solid advice on real estate and loans in Malaysia. Below is a load of questions...

1) Is an apartment worthwhile investing in?
2) Will the market value drop?
3) Is it better to have the apmt close to colleges to garner more students?
4) Where's the best place to invest for an apmt in Malaysia right now? Any recommendations?
5) What are the basic requirements in an apmt for students/small families?
6) What will you get for an apartment which is 150K-200K?
7) What are the kinds of loans I can apply to? What will be my commitment monthly/yearly?
8) Is there like a middle person to look after or maintain the property?

What is the FASTEST package out there in Malaysia? I'm planning to start a cyber cafe with 80 PCs.

Which ISP, what package and how many IPs should I look at?

This CC will be needing internet to surf as well as to play games and stream movies online.

Need advice.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your generous advice on my earlier thread(Finance, Business and Investment House). After having deep thoughts on PC specs, I realized it is better that I stick to suggestions by you LYNians. Hence, can anyone/everyone (hmmm.....whichever) suggest a good rig/PC specification? It needs to handle current and future games, fast internet, etc..

NOTE: 80 PCs in total with a budget of RM5,000 - RM5,500 per PC.

NOTE: Also please suggest SERVER specs and likely budget.

PS:- The specs like bluray/hd dvd burner i had shown in earlier thread is already incorporated by one CC in Perth. (DFI LAN Ltd.).......geezz. In terms of HD and Bluray Discs, Australia has already started renting and selling HD games and movies since August last year!! I will probably stick to some of them when opening one in Perth.

Online Business

Has anyone here gone into starting an online business, say an online computer store or something?

1) Do you have to register the company (eg. sdn. bhd.)?
2) Could you guys name some good e-comerce copanies that are willing to setup, maintain and update the website?
3) What's the cost?
4) ......and finally how do you get suppliers?

I've been told that the items from manufacturer's or suppliers can be placed in store/warehouse, where the manufacturer/supplier sets the price and the reseller gets sales commission that the manufacturer pays out, typically expressed as a percentage of the purchase price.

5) But is there anyone who gets an agreement with the supplier/manufacturer to place the items in the store/warehouse where the manufacturer/supplier sets the price and the reseller determines the sale price? Below is an example.

Manufacturer's price of intel processor set for reseller = RM1600------>Reseller sells it for RM2000------->Reseller pays back manufacturer RM1600 making a profit of RM400.

Get it?
