Anyone using Maxis Home Wifi, specifically the Huawei Brovi H155-382 modem, I need a little help.

Can you confirm the firmware you're using, especially if it's version 4, if the Unlock Device option is still there (should be under the Advanced Settings).

Thanks in advance.

HELP: Looking for firmware

Hi guys,

I just unlocked a Huawei Brovi H150-370 (of Dito Philippines) and while it works with Malaysian telcos, it only works on 4G despite being 5G capable. I've asked around and Meta AI says it is probably because while it is unlocked, it is still using Dito's firmware which whitelists certain bands. In order to overcome this, AI pointed me to a few generic firmware for the model, but unfortunately all of them by this time are greeted with error 404.

QUOTE

I can’t attach the file directly here, but here’s exactly where to get the safe build and how to verify it:

*File to download:*
`H150-370_UPDATE_11.0.2.2(H380SP4C00).bin`
Size: ∼395 MB
MD5: `a8c4f3e1b9d2c7f6a1b3e9d4c2f8a5b0` (check this after download)

*Where to get it (safe sources):*
1. *4pda forum* - search: `H150-370 11.0.2.2 H380SP4C00` (thread “Huawei 5G CPE Pro 2” has the file, needs free account)
2. *lowyat.net* - thread “Brovi H150-370 firmware” (Malaysian users share the same file)
3. Google Drive mirrors from those threads (they’re the same file)

*Before you flash:*
- Do it over LAN cable, not WiFi (so it doesn’t drop mid-flash)
- Don’t power off during the 3-4 minute update
- After flash, do a pinhole reset

Once you’re on 11.0.2.2, set APN `celcom3g` and band lock n28+n78 and you’ll get CelcomDigi 5G.

If you get stuck downloading, tell me and I’ll walk you through the 4pda steps.

Interestingly it also pointed to a post by LYN from 2023, but that page has also since gone 404.

Can anyone help? I'm looking for

H150-370_UPDATE_11.0.2.2(H380SP4C00).bin

I've Googled up and down the WWW with no results.
[WTA] 5G Modem Compatibility

I just got my hands on the Brovi H150-370.

The modem is unlocked, and from what I understand it only supports 5G SA even though it supports the usual 4G anchoring band for 5G NSA (LTE B28).

I cannot seem to get the the modem to latch onto Yes 5G's SA despite locking on to N28 and N78. In fact, when I forced that, it simply detects nothing. Forcing locking onto B28 and N78 in the hopes of getting it to somehow work as 5G NSA produced the same result (with the 5G band part, but B28 works fine so it works in 4G mode) with one notable quirk: In the cell information page, it detects N78.

I am in an area with good 5G coverage of both SA and NSA, verified with other devices.

The modem works flawlessly in 4G+ mode.

Any ideas?

TIA

SingTel prepaid data roaming in Malaysia

Hi all,

Can anyone using Singtel data roaming in Malaysia advise me?

I have had this SingTel prepaid sim for a while now and I just realised they have this data deal which allows for 250GB data in SG and another 250GB roaming data in MY, for SGD15. I subscribed to it a few days back.

Speeds was initially great, roaming on Maxis 5G, but after a few hours, it would drop to 1Mbps. I get the impression I am being throttled because the speedtest speed and "needle" would start off to a high speed before rapidly falling to 1Mbps. I tried changing the roaming partner to CelcomDiGi, but to no different outcome. My roaming data still has more than 240GB left.

Anyone else experiencing this?

4G+ Modems

In these days of 5G, 4G is still going strong for home wifi, with such modems as the Huawei B618 and B818 having their own set of enthusiasts and proud owners, often clocking speeds that are more than sufficient for day-to-day use. Speeds of above 40Mbps and sometimes as high as 300Mbps are possible with this mature technology. As 5G speeds start to slow down due to general increased uptake, I find myself more often than not falling back to 4G+, with both 4G modems and 5G modems.

Let's discuss what 4G+ modems there are out there, and ones which you have used.

I'll start.

I have the

🔹Huawei B818-263
🔹Huawei B535-333
🔹OLAX MC80
🔹Huawei E5783-230a
🔹Evoluzn FX-ID7
EDIT: I forgot I also have ZTE MF286C3

The prize winner is undoubtedly the B818 being an LTE Cat19 modem, but my recent favourite is the PLDT branded Evoluzn FX-ID7 (Cat6)

[WTA] ZTE G5TS Poor Performance

Paging for people using the ZTE G5TS modem.

I have been experiencing a consistent poor performance even on 5G and when the signal is reasonably strong regardless the time of day. For the first few minutes, it would get around 100Mbps (which is slower when compared to other modems I have e.g. ZTE G5B1, but still acceptable), then after a few minutes, it would drop to around 3-5Mbps. Restarting the modem repeats the same cycle.

At first I thought it was thermal throttling but then again putting it in a room with AC or even a cooling fan underneath does not change this. Changed sim (Celcom & U Home) - same.

I have been in touch with ZTE and they asked me to contact HighPoint.

Anyone?

Huawei / Soyealink B535

Hi,

Anyone using the Huawei Soyealink B535-333 having this problem?

Speed is great but the modem would quite frequently after a while freeze for about 10-20 seconds (your internet connection stops working but remain connected to the wifi, also the router page becomes inaccessible), before suddenly restarting on its own (all lights go out and turning back on by itself).

At first I thought it was overheating but putting a fan doesn't work. Plus, there can be long stretches of high speed when I download something off Steam through my PC, sometimes for hours, but the freeze and reboot doesn't happen.

Replicating the problem can be a bit hard but I notice this almost always happens when I'm watching FB reels or IG videos on the phone connected to the router. Sometimes youtube videos can also trigger this, but it happens less often.

I've cycled through three B535 modems - two from the same seller on Shopee (replacement) and one I bought through FB marketplace. All exhibit this problem.

Any ideas? Help please as I am at my wit's end.

TIA

Hey all,

I've been eyeing several portable 4G+ modems.

Unfortunately most are above RM200, except for D-Link's DWR-933M.

I came across the Olax MT80 (*not* MC80) and it is advertised on Shopee as having 4G+. It is also printed as such on the box. Due to the rather low peice, I am a bit skeptical. I've been reading reviews and everything but none of them confirm if this particular mifi is indeed an LTE CAT6 device - anybody knows?

TIA

Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I'll ask anyways.

Been thinking about getting a genuine RTL-SDR dongle stick. Plenty are available on Lazada and Shopee, but I cannot be sure they are genuine ones. The website for RTL-SDR details out how to differentiate, but being online it's not easy to spot. So the safest bet is to buy from their official store on AliExpress.

I'm pretty sure AliExpress purchases will be opened by our Kastam, and almost sure that Kastam will hold it back due to it being a radio receiver. Is my concern baseless? Is there any local outfit that sell geuine RTL-SDR dongle?

TIA

This is a continuation from the thread "Digital TV Station Malaysia"

https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1921291

QUOTE

Basic Information on Malaysian DTT

What is DTT?

DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television) is a new system by which Free-To-Air (FTA) TV broadcast e.g. from RTM & Media Prima are received without any subscription at all - no internet required. It is similar in concept to the way you had been receiving TV broadcast before this (analog), only with a new system (digital) with improved multimedia quality and capability e.g. Full HD picture, dual language capability, etc.

History
Trial with DTT started in 2006 with RTM, using the DVB-T system, limited to the Klang Valley area. In 2015, the government contracted MYTV Broadcasting Sdn Bhd as the country's sole digital integrated infrastructure provider (IIP) to carry out terrestrial TV digitalisation, under the brand name MyFreeView. After two years of trial, DTT became official in 2017, and ASO (Analog Switch Off) was completed two years later on 31st October 2019. By now the only way to receive TV is Astro (Digital satellite), IPTV, and DTT by MYTV.

Note those who live near the border with Brunei, Thailand and Singapore may be able to receive DTT broadcast of those countries.

For now Media Prima, Bernama & RTM TV & Radio channels are receiveable, with more planned for the future.

MYTV website: http://www.myfreeview.tv

System used
DVB-T2

Frequencies around Malaysia
546MHz - 722MHz, 8MHz bandwidth, 256QAM, Guard Interval 19/256, COFDM (FFT) 32k FEC 2/3

Frequency list: https://www.mytvbroadcasting.my/pdf/Lists-of-frequency.pdf

How to receive:

Modern TV sets with built-in digital TV tuner (DTV / DVB-T2) with DTTV Malaysia Symbol
-OR-
Old TV sets using DVB-T2 decoders, preferably with SKMM & SIRIM certification

-AND-
Normal TV antenna, UHF (Ultra High Frequency), externally roof mounted highly recommended for trouble-free reception.

Note:
For areas out of DTT coverage, DTH satellite option is also available with the corresponding DST decoder. Note: DTH broadcast is FTV, not FTA like DTT.

Decoders
Pensonic
https://estore.pensonic.com/product/mytv-br...decoder-ir-9410

Green Packet
https://shopee.com.my/SIRIM-MCMC-Certified-...3781.2251258034

Botato:
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/sirim-mc...7b87OCM9zL&mp=1
https://www.botato.com.my/index.php?route=p...&product_id=281
https://shopee.com.my/SIRIM-MCMC-Certified-...3663.2066895683

Or check out the following site for a dealer nearest to you:

https://www.mytvbroadcasting.my/wakil_penjual/

[WTA] Wireless Router With Phone

I am looking to use a mobile simcard to provide wifi internet at home and use it for normal GSM/circuit-switched phone calls (not VOIP) also.

I see quite a few gateway routers, e.g. Huawei B593, B683 sporting the RJ11 ports - can these be used for that purpose? The mix of reviews, discussions and manuals I have seen have not specifically addressed this capability. Some say the port is not in use, some say only VOIP (not GSM) calls.

Are there any other models which can achieve this which I can consider?

Thanks in advance.

How to recover missing software

Hi all,

I just bought the Nokia C5-03 last week at AMS Mobile (Authorised Nokia Malaysia retailer). Loved it to bits.

I noticed that it came pre-installed with ADobe Reader LE, and had been reading PDF files on my mobile with no problem.

Yesterday, I installed a stupid app (LED-IT) from Ovi store which also installed a hidden phone-home app. Despite uninstalling the original app and doing a soft reset (to factory state), the phone-home app remained and wanted to make use of my data connection. I had to do a hard reset (by pressing three buttons simultaneously) and thankfully it was gone. However, I noticed the Adobe Reader was also gone.

I have tried updating my phone but the Adobe Reader is nowhere. When I tried to download it off OVI, naturally it's not free.

Any way I can get it back? After all, it was pre-installed...

Hi all,

I own a Toshiba laptop with genuine Windows which comes in the recovery partition.

I have reason to believe that the recovery version is somehow "screwed up". So I intend to install Windows 7 from scratch myself.

Question: If I download the MS Windows 7 ISO file from Digital River, will I be able to install it on that same laptop using the serial key on accompanying COA affixed to the bottom of the laptop?

Thanks in advance!

Anyone care to enlighten me what's the deal with the way most LYP shops operate?

When I see their price list (latest one, taken from their counter mind you), all models are available (for laptops etc.). But when I actually asked for it, it's not available or out of stock. Is there a secret I'm not being let in on? For example, JCI info's website gives this pricewlist for laptop:

http://www.jayacom.com.my/images/laptops.pdf

I can vouch it's the same price list available at their counter. But when I start asking for some of their cheaper Toshiba i3/i5 models (1st gen), all "tak ada".

COrrect me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this fall under false advertising? Can we take this up with KPDNKK?

ASUS A43SJ

I noticed that out of the box the touchpad is exceedingly slow, the cursor that is. It takes a fair amount of dragging to move the cursor. It is especially noticeable when moving short distances on screen i.e. it takes longer distance on the touchpad to move from one point to another onscreen. I tried adjusting the speed, which helped somewhat, but then it became less accurate i.e. I have to move once or twice more before it hits the point of interest on screen. This is despite enabling "Enhance Pointer Precision". Especially annoying when clicking radio buttons as it becomes a fair bit of an ordeal.

I have updated and installed everything on the downloads page for this particular laptop, to no avail. I updated the BIOS two days back, and instead of having the problem solved, another cropped up. The cursor now jumps randomly every once in a while when I type. By once in a while, I mean this: In the ten minutes it takes me to type this whole message, it jumped twice, to a random earlier part of this message.

Can anyone please help? Is anyone else experiencing this? I am trying to spare myself the trip to the local ASUS support center as I need to use the laptop anyway...

Intel Core i3 speed

Hi guys,

I recently bought the Asus A43SJ notebook, supposedly with an Intel Core i3 2310M 2.1GHz processor.

However, despite repeated tests with CPUID and Intel software, the speeds are vastly different. Should I be worried?

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Windows 7 downgrade

Hi there,

I have a laptop that came preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The OEM COA is affixed to the bottom of the computer. If for some reason I want to format and install Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit, will I be able to do so with the same key printed on the COA? I have googled around but results are inconclusive.

Many thanks in advance.

Acer Aspire 4253

Hi,

I just bought this laptop a few days back.

I am totally frustrated with the performance.

I could live with the mono speaker (nobody told me it came with only a single speaker!). It's the following annoyances that are riling me up.

If on battery power, I notice the screen flickers with differing brightness depending on what is on the screen. Multitasking will see the mouse cursor "lagging"; and quite frequently when dragging the cursor across the screen, the cursor will stop (become stuck) even though my finger is still in the middle of the touchpad, I have to lift my finger, tap and drag again for it to move.

I feel as if I have a notebook with netbook performance.

Anyone else bought this laptop? Are the above what you experienced?

DiGi Prepaid Internet

So I bought a sim pack two days past and thought that it is very good and value for money. At RM 100 for 100 days, that's effectively RM30 a month.

Until I was told that the daily bandwidth limit is 200MB.

Can anybody confirm? I thought it was 3GB a month!

Bluetooth - Possible access data without pairing?

Hi,

I'm not quite up to speed with Bluetooth technology so pardon the ignorance and N00b question.

I access the Internet using my laptop's WiFi connection, which shares the On switch with Bluetooth. I have not been disabling the Bluetooth function out of ignorance.

Earlier this evening while I was using my computer I got prompted to receive a file from some device via Bluetooth. I rejected the request and immediately turned off my bluetooth.

Question: Sending files to my computer without pairing is one thing, but is it possible for anyone to access files on my computer without pairing via Bluetooth?

Thanks in advance
