Legal Advice Needed!

I started renting a room in Bandar Utama in January. Before moving in, I had paid 2 months deposit, and a month's rental in advance. The initial oral agreement was that I was to give 2 month's notice or to find a replacement if I wanted to move out any earlier. If not, the landlord would deduct 1 month's rent. However, my other housemate is moving out this month, and the landlord is refusing to honour his part of the deal. He has changed the rules all of a sudden without letting us know. All I got was an sms from him today, to which I have replied that this was not our initial agreement and his only answer is that there will be no preferential treatment. I am not asking for preferential treatment, only what I agreed to earlier. Before moving in, I did also tell him that I will not be staying for long because I am buying my own house. And he had acknowledged the fact during which the two month notice period terms was conveyed to me. I did ask for a tenancy agreement several times and he refused to give me one saying that it was a gentleman's agreement. In light of recent events. I obviously want to move out because I do not want to have such unknowing rules imposed on me. I read somewhere that in Malaysia, an oral agreement is also acceptable in court. Can you please advise me on my next step? I have been renting for 5 months now and would like to move out due to the landlord's untrustworthiness. The reason why my housemate is moving out is because he has been entering her room without her permission. She would not even have known if he did not mention to her that he was unable to fix the light. When she told him that this was totally unacceptable, all he said was that this was the way things were done here. He has totally betrayed our trust, and I'm wondering if we can leverage on this if we wanted to take action?

Please help!

olympus mju 1070 dilemma

hi, i recently bought a new olympus mju 1070 from foto miami a camera shop near digital mall.
when i bought it, i tested it out to see that it was working, but the shop is facing a busy road so it was quiet noisy and i couldn't hear any sound when i tested the camera.
when i took it back and tried it out, there seemed to be a lot of sound coming out from it (something like krrrr krkk) whenever i turn it on and it actually goes on for sometime.
i needed to use the camera urgently so i took it back to foto miami all the way to see if they could give me a new one.
The sales girl who sold me the camera was not available, but there was another lady who was pure b****y and irresponsible as she said that whatever happens to the camera after they sell it is my business not hers (talk about after sales service). she told me to take it straight to olympus. i called up the next day and the girl who sold me the camera told me that she had already sent in the warranty card (is there such thing?) and that i have to send it to olympus SC.

i went to olympus SC which is 1 hour away from where i lived.
this guy davian came out and insisted that there was nothing wrong with my camera.
however, the sifus at the other camera shops (i went to 3) told me the lens in the camera was loose and is what's causing the sound.
my pictures are only clear when i put it on 12 mega pixel, which means that my file sizes are super huge.
When i lower it to 5 mega pixels, the picture becomes very grainy.

please tell me if there's something wrong with the camera or if it is normal for it to make such sounds?
if not i really need to go talk to olympus.

Looking for new car

Hi, I'm graduating soon. and my future job requires me to travel alot. sometimes to reli reli ulu places (depending on my luck)...so i'll definitely need a car..i don't want to explain my full situation here or it will just be confusing. so let's just put it this way:

my salary is rm2000 (i spend about 500-600 on food and shopping, depending on my mood, with no other obligations-yet! not planning to get married in the next 7 years at least)...and since the current interest rate is so low, i might as well get a loan now..

planning to get something around the rm50-60k range, depending on wut the installment plan is..parents will definitely help out with the down payment (seeing that this is my first car and there's a silent agreement, or rather my mum has already said that she wants the car after i 'upgrade')

am looking at toyota because they are fuel-saving. very young girl, so don't need a big car..but i don't want a perodua or a proton because of its reputation. also, not planning to change car at least until i finish paying the installment, so might as well get something that will save me lot of headache in the future.

right now considering between new toyota vios 1.3 (although when i search for it here nth comes out :[ ) and a second hand altis..i don't think i need a very powerful car.. hehe..please advise..i'm open to suggestions as well..

also, im currently a freelancer...im sked that if i purchase a car under my name, the IRB will go after me..anybody willing to share their experience?

i think i made my situation and requirements quite clear..any suggestions?? thanks in advance to all the lyn taikor's n taikarjie's here..
