Pendakwah bebas yang terkenal kerana lantang mengkritik pemimpin DAP disekat daripada muncul dalam Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam RTM, satu langkah yang menimbulkan persoalan tentang komitmen kerajaan baru berhubung kebebasan bersuara.

Ridhuan Tee Abdullah berkata, undangan untuk beliau menjadi ahli panel Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam esok dibatalkan “atas arahan menteri”.

“Saya fikir ini tindakan yang tidak matang. Kita yang memperjuangkan kebebasan bercakap, kebebasan berucap, kebebasan bersuara, tiba-tiba kita pula yang mengambil tindakan menyekat orang nak bercakap,” katanya kepada saluran berita dalam talian TV Pertiwi.

Laporan itu turut memetik Ridhuan yang mengatakan tindakan menyekat beliau daripada terlibat dalam forum yang sudah lama disertainya menunjukkan kerajaan baru "takutkan dengan bayang-bayang sendiri".

“Dengar dulu apa yang kita nak cakap. Ini belum cakap lagi, dia dah gam dah. Yang kita peliknya, dulu mereka inilah yang memperjuangakan kebebasan bersuara dan macam-macam kebebasan lagi," kata Ridhuan.

Ridhuan terkenal dengan kritikan tajamnya terhadap DAP dan pernah menggelar pemimpin parti itu sebagai "ultra kiasu".

Perkembangan terbaru itu juga dilihat akan meningkatkan kritikan terhadap Menteri Komunikasi dan Digital Fahmi Fadzil yang menjadi tumpuan ramai sejak memegang portfolio tersebut, sekali gus menjadikan RTM dan agensi-agensi komunikasi kerajaan lain berada di bawah bidang kuasanya.

Sebelum ini, Fahmi juga mengundang kecaman susulan beberapa kenyataannya yang mengancam pengkritik kerajaan campuran diketuai Anwar Ibrahim.

Belum sempat seminggu selepas beliau memulakan tugas sebagai menteri, Fahmi mempersoalkan platform media sosial kerana memaparkan kandungan "provokatif" dan “ekstremis”, menyebabkan pengkritik membangkitkan persoalan mengenai beliau yang dilihat seakan keliru tentang skop sebenar tugasnya.

The news recently reported an incident whereby a police personnel recorded a live TikTok video during operations against an entertainment centre, and subsequently uploaded the said video clip on her private TikTok account.

Such attention-seeking behaviour not only sullies the reputation of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), but it may also create an impression that civil servants are irresponsible in general. Therefore, we appreciate the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) for swiftly issuing a notice regarding social media usage amongst police officers and investigating the said policewoman.

In another case previously, a school teacher recorded herself live during class and broadcasted the video on her personal TikTok account.

The Education Ministry is still reviewing the case and deciding on the appropriate action against the teacher, as well as teachers who have uploaded recordings of classrooms onto social media, including TikTok.

Teachers who do this not only violate the basic human rights of students by not seeking their consent, but such recordings could create problems indirectly such as endangering their safety and cause mental stress.

Teachers are supposed to be role models and trusted individuals for their students, instead of jeopardising their students’ safety. As educators, they should possess the intellectual acumen to realise that uploading live recordings of classes violates multiple ethical clauses.

With rapid advancements in technology, it is inevitable that such blunders occur. Hence, MCA urges all civil servants to pursue a higher standard of ethics and integrity during the execution of their duties. Surely, we can all learn vicariously from these experiences to restore the public’s confidence towards civil servants, and build a stronger community together.
