Save Windows XP!The clock is ticking

Save Windows XP! The clock is ticking, Sign The Petition and help try and save Windows XP

Microsoft will end OEM and shrink-wrapped sales of Windows XP on June 30, 2008, forcing users to shift to Vista. (System builders, meaning those who do white-box PCs, can sell XP through December 31.) Don't let that happen!

Millions of us have grown comfortable with XP and don't see a need to change to Vista. It's like having a comfortable apartment that you've enjoyed coming home to for years, only to get an eviction notice. The thought of moving to a new place -- even with the stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and maple cabinets (or is cherry in this year?) -- just doesn't sit right. Maybe it'll be more modern, but it will also cost more and likely not be as good a fit. And you don't have any other reason to move.

That's exactly the conclusion people have come to with Vista. For most of us, there's really no reason to move to it -- yet we don't have a choice. When that strong desire to stick with XP became obvious in spring 2007, major computer makers such as Dell and Hewlett-Packard quietly reintroduced new XP-based systems (but just to business customers, so as not to offend Microsoft). Come June 30, however, even that option goes away........................................

Go Here to View More And Sign The Petition

CODE

http://www.savexp.com/

To use the Toshiba ConfigFree™ Utility in NON-Tos

QUOTE

Wireless connectivity (802.11a/b/g or Bluetooth) has become essential to anywhere, anytime communications, enabling home and business users to stay connected, no matter where they go. However, managing multiple connections is sometimes difficult and often time consuming. Even when reconfiguring a network connection is simple, it still takes time to change the default printer, the browser settings or make other changes to connect to peripherals in the new location.

Toshiba has developed ConfigFree™ to assist in quickly capturing, storing and switching among wireless and wired connections as required. Users store location-based information and default settings for work, home, hotspots or other locations. For instant connectivity, users simply switch profile as they change locations.

With the availability of ConfigFree™, Toshiba once again demonstrates its commitment to enabling "anywhere, anytime communications". For customers and companies alike, wireless connectivity becomes much easier and more intuitive. So, now you can spend less time configuring your wireless connections and more time simply communicating.

Many of them out there saying that this Toshiba ConfigFree™ Utility is very good to use to manage the wireless network. It is even a lot more better than XP WZC (Wireless Zero Connection). Luckily it can be used on a non-Toshiba laptop with a little trick to fool the utility think that you own a Toshiba laptop. It only works under XP.

Download the Toshiba ConfigFree™ Utility from the Toshiba site.

CODE

http://xhref.com/117c0
http://www.mediafire.com/?8ej2wn1ttj0

Version: 5.90.07
Size: 14,945,416 bytes
Posted: 08/23/06
Released Date: 08/22/06
Applicable Categories: Toshiba Utility
Operating System: Windows XP, Windows XP SP2

QUOTE

Installation instructions:
CODE
REGEDIT INSTRUCTIONS:
1-Install (util_configfree_2499B.exe) program and then reboot.
2-Then open regedit.
Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->TOSHIBA>CONFIGFREE
Locate the "Instcheck" line on the right side of the screen.
Set VALUE to a Satellite 5205
3-Reboot.
4- After reboot go = Start button, it is in the All Programs\Toshiba\Networking menu. (ENJOY)

** If there is not an entry on the right for "Instcheck" you must add or create a new string value for it under ConfigFree entry and possibly even the "ConfigFree" on the left under Toshiba as well.

** Backup the registry before you attemp to modify.

There is also a newer version of Config Free which works under Vista. But not sure whether the same old trick can be applied as well.
CODE

CODE

http://xhref.com/117c1

How to hide archives in images, a trick of the ta

You can hide any ZIP, RAR and 7z archive in any JPG, PNG, GIF (animated or not), BMP or SWF (flash) file.

(1) Put the image file and the archive file in the same directory;
(2) Open a DOS window from that directory;
(3) At the DOS prompt use this syntax:

copy /b [image] + [archive] [new_image]

Example:

copy /b mypic.jpg + myzip.zip hiddenzip.jpg

You'll see the [new_image] file normally when you open it with the associated image viewer, but if you open it with an archiver you'll see the contents of the archive file. The archiver, of course, must be able to read the archive format that is hidden in the image.

But how?

It's because image files are read in such way that all data after the end of the file is ignored. But archive files are read the opposite way: all data before the beginning of the archive is ignored. So both can be merged (as binary files = /b) and still work.

This way, you can hide sensitive data in images and share whatever you want with your friends by email and instant messengers, and even post serial numbers or keygens in puppies' images. Archives may be encrypted with strong cryptography, and there's no need to use any particular program that does steganography. If the sender can access a command prompt and the recipient knows how to use WinRAR or 7-Zip, they're done.

Some advantages of this method (over software-dependent solutions)

- There's no need to have any special program installed
- No software compatibility issues
- You can store files knowing that they will work in the future
- You have the choice to use a password or not
- You'll have always up to date cryptography (just update your archiver)

Forgot Your Password On XP?No problem

Forgot Your Password On XP?

If you forgot your password on you windows XP here is a simple solution.

1. Restart you computer

2.When booting, press F8 and select "Safe Mode"

3.After getting to the user menu. Click on a user and this time it will not ask you for a password

4.Go to Start>Run and type CMD .

5.At command prompt type in cd C:WindowsSystem32, (Where C put your system's HD letter,I am assuming C is your System/Windows Drive)

6.For safety purposes first make a backup of your Logon.Scr file.. You can do this by typing in Copy Logon.scr Logon.bak

7.Then type copy CMD.EXE Logon.scr

8.Then type this command, I will assume that you want to set Administrator's password to NewPass

9.Now, type this in net user administrator NewPass

10. You will get a message saying that it was successful, this means Administrator's new password is NewPass

11. Restart the PC and you will login as Administrator (or whatever you chose to reset) with your chosen password.
