Selangor MCA chief dies after physical exercises

PETALING JAYA: Selangor MCA chief Ng Chok Sin, 55, is reported to have died suddenly this evening after taking part in physical exercises.

MCA secretary-general Chong Sin Woon told FMT that Ng died at about 5pm, after he had been engaged in exercises. The cause of death was not disclosed.

MCA president Wee Ka Siong offered his condolences on Facebook, calling Ng’s death “a shock to all party comrades”.

He said Ng had been with the party “through many ups and downs”. Ng was a member of the central committee, chairman of Sepang MCA, and also held positions in MCA Youth.

Wee said he appointed Ng as Selangor MCA chairman after becoming president in 2018.

“Ng is a local from Sungai Pelek, he was given the opportunity to contest in the Sungai Pelek state assembly seat as a Barisan Nasional candidate in 2013 and 2018,” said Wee. Ng was unsuccessful both times, losing to DAP candidates.

Ng is survived by his wife and four children.

Compensation for false positive PCR test?

Guys, just checking if anyone has managed to get compensation for false positive PCR test done in private hospital?

Wife was admitted into one of the "reputable" Penang private hospital due to suspected appendicitis so she had to undergo COVID test in the hospital itself prior to admission. Funny thing was her doctor ordered her to undergo both RTK & PCR tests which cost around RM500 (need final confirmation) & as usual, insurance doesn't cover this.

Her RTK result was negative but PCR came back positive even though she showed 0 COVID symptom.

This in turn triggered her company to undergo mass contact tracing, isolation & possibly testing. On my end, I have to brought my son & myself to another private hospital for PCR drive-thru test which cost us another RM500 (RM250 each).

Her doctor ordered 2nd round of RTK + PCR test again (another round of ~RM500) due to both results not tallying & this morning, we all received all our results; all negative.

Now said hospital refused to give her the result paper for the 1st COVID test & she risk being accused of false reporting by her company.

Question: Anyone ever request & receive compensation from vendor / hospital for the damage caused by their false positive PCR result? I'm ignoring all the emotional stress mumbo-jumbo for now; just looking to have at least me & my son's PCR cost compensated even though they were done in another hospital.

UPDATE: Hospital assigned a nice nurse (good-cop-bad-cop?) who explained that all PCR tests in Penang are done by Gribbles lab. Hospital only handles RTK tests themselves so it's something that's beyond the hospital's control.

Tai-chi'd the first test result paper to my wife's doctor so have to wait further.

145 passengers from unwanted cruise ship now in MY

So 145 passengers from the cruise ship that has been rejected in multiple countries are now in Malaysia after they took a flight from Cambodia to KLIA.

1 of the passengers from US has been tested positive.

I guess we'll be seeing a spike of confirmed case soon.

OPINION: Get infected now rather than later

This is just my random opinion but looking at the status in Wuhan where their hospitals are clearly overcrowded, do you think it's better to get infected now rather than later? At the moment, the hospitals in Malaysia are still capable of handling the few cases we have but are they prepared enough to handle a sudden surge once there's a nationwide outbreak?

In Wuhan, we can clearly see that all their resources - bed, human power, accessories - have been stretched thin. Just like their people there, we're all doing our best to prevent ourselves from being infected but it doesn't seem to work very well there. I've read a lot of accounts where people were turned away due to insufficient beds & so on, that is until the Chinese government built the two new hospitals that specifically cater to the coronavirus infection.

At the moment, the only people with 0 worry are those who had recovered while the rest continue to live in fear & catching up to very bits & pieces of news that came on air.

TL;DR is it better to get infected now while the medical service is still capable of giving you the utmost care rather than later when the hospitals are overcapacity?

This incident happened on the 10th Feb at 1.18pm while I was waiting for my brother in front of a shoplot at Kuchai Avenue. A car (Proton Saga BLM - WTP 5263) made an U-turn and hit my front end while doing it and instead of stopping, it just drove away even though I've honked him twice. Right at that moment, my brother came out from one of the shops and we decided to chase down the car with the intention to reason with the driver.

We pursued the car for about 400 meters and when traffic came to a stop just right at the junction, my brother went down to inspect the damage, at the very same time, one of the passengers in the car in front came down from the back and walked towards the driver side of his car (seems like taking something from there) and start charging at my brother with a knife on his hand (as you can see in the video) without saying a word. The rest of the people in that car came down right after but didn't do anything to stop the attacker and I too rush out in attempt to stop the attack but to no avail.

My brother fell to the side of the road and stabbed by the attacker, I was not spared either, the attacker came around blowing punches my to face while I attempt to reason with them, he smashed my spectacle and causes the injuries shown. My brother got stabbed on the inner thighs by the attacker after the fall and later received four stitches in the hospital while receiving treatment. We lodged a police report at a nearby station after the incident. I plead to those with information to come forward and advice those reading this to keep a lookout for these people, one of them is armed and dangerous.
