Hi all,

I have 4 NAS connected to my office network. One of the NAS always crashed recently (The heavy usage 1). This NAS just bought last week.
Im not sure what going wrong with the NAS.
I could not login to the Web UI nor access the share folder from other computer.
All my NAS are Synology. I have two TP Link switches connecting all the computers and NAS in my office.
Hope any sifu here can give me guidance.

My pc unable to load into window 10 after an auto restart through automatic update. Not even the circle spinning screen up.
Now it keep stuck at window logo screen.
I tried load into safe mode but still same problem it stuck at "preparing automatic repair" screen.
I also tried boot using USB but seem it unable to read my USB.

Mobo: Asus rampage V edition 10
Proc: i7-6850K
Ram: 64GB
HDD: 2TB WD Red Nas hdd

Anybody know how to fix this?
The pc run fine when I just bought 2 week ago.

Post solution: Found that by just unplug USB it will run to the circle spinning loading screen. What a stupid bugs by microsoft.
As such I will close this thread. Hopefully someone might find this useful in future.

2TB hdd read as 1TB in windows

Hi all,

I have 3 hdd in my computer which is 160gb, 320gb and WD 2TB Green.
I formatted my 2TB hdd and partitioned it into 1TB each and was used fine for few month.
Back to few days ago, my 2TB hdd was detected as 1TB in bios after unknown reason of restart computer.

I tried used HDAT2 to boot and tried to set the HPA disabled and set max address... but still read as 1TB HDD..

Finally I swapped my sata slot then my HDD finally can detect as 2TB hdd but in the disk management only 1TB shown.

Google around and found a programme called testdisk and manage to found my other 1TB partition and all my data are still in the HDD.

However when I tried write back the partition, the programme return write error message..

I have performed deeper search which took many hours to complete it, the programme return message said the hard disk space error and the disk space of 2TB was read as 4TB and ask me to check jumper setting of the HDD??! (I forgot to capture screen shot of it... )

I thought for sata HDD need not to do any jumper setting like IDE HDD??

Is there any other method I can try to revive my HDD without losing all the data inside as I got some important information on my research journal in the HDD which I did not backup it....

PS.. Currenly I am running a program WD partition alignment.. not sure does it help...

Update: I finished WD align after 14 hours running and now window able to read it as 2TB HDD... but seem like I lost all my data inside HDD...

Ubuntu boot, but unable to display correctly

Hi to all linux expert here,

I am new and noob in linux, I wish to try ubuntu and running dual boot with my current window XP. My problem is when I put the ubuntu CD and boot it, my screen was unable display anything from the GUI (some very funny display where I totally cant see anything), so end up I can't install anything to my harddisk. Anybody can provide solution for me to overcome this problem? Thanks.

Hi everybody, I am planning to build another set of workstation for CFD simulation purpose (mainly for parallel processing). Currently I have 2 set of AMD pc (phenom 2 X6 1090T) running as cluster for my simulation, but I found that the performance of 1090T is fairly disappointed although 1090T is slightly cheaper for a 6 core processor. My colleague told me that intel core i7 or xeon performed better due to some processor architecture design. After I evaluated all possible option available in the market and of course with my budget as well. I figured out this below option.

1) Intel Core i7 960 - 3.2ghz, 4C (core), 8T (thread)
12gb RAM
2 x 1TB HD
RM 4,000.00

2) Intel Xeon X5650 -2.66ghz, 6C, 12T
32gb RAM
2 x 1TB HD
RM 7,500.00
(upgradable to 2 processor)
For a comparable spec, the price of Dell workstation is RM12,749.00 (+RM5,000 for 3 yr warranty, Window 7 ultimate, internal speaker, keyboard + mouse, without monitor)

3) Intel core i7 980 extreme - 3.33ghz, 6C, 12T
12gb RAM
2 x 1TB HD
RM 6,500.00

Now I am not sure to go for single workstation for option 2 or I can get 2 for option 1..
Option 3 is just for comparison purpose as I think is too pricey for 1 workstation.
Anybody can give some advice or recommendation?
1 things I am not so sure is that why the price of Dell's offered was so high...an additional RM5,000 for warranty purposes?

Some additional question, what is the difference between ECC and non ECC ram? How much does it cost for a 4gb ECC and non ECC ram? I did not see any retails store in the market is selling ECC ram (cant see any of them in the price list).

Lan connection lost on between 2 PC

Hi, I have 2 PC with crosscable connected between it to established a lan connection.
I used this 2 PC as a cluster to run job on MPI (message passing interface).
I found that my lan connection between 2 PC will lost after running certain period of time on the MPI job.
I was wonder will network adapter become exhaust and turn off automatically if the data transfer exceed it limit?
Or will this problem solved if I connect this 2 computer with network switch?

How to disable raid mode back to normal mode?

Hi, I have 2 1TB hd on my desktop running on RAID-0 mode. Somehow I found that the performance of raid-0 are not what I expected and now I wish to turn it off. Am I gonna lost all my data on my current RAID mode harddisk? Anyway to disable it without having to lost all my data on it?

Sharing internet connection between 2 computer

I have 2 computer, both are using window 7 home premium, 1 of it is connect to internet via wireless adapter to router while other pc i connect it via crosscable.
PC 1 - Connect to internet via wireless adapter
- connect to other computer via crosscable
PC 2 - connect via crosscable
I wish to share internet connection to my PC 2, anyway to do it?

PCI Network adapter

i got a HP pavillion g1260I cpu which got a very weird problem with the network adapter since been hit by lightning strike. After the incident, my onboard network adapter is unable to detected again, so i tot mayb onboard lan chipset spoil after been hit by the strike, so i bought a new d-link pci network adapter to install on it. I follow the instruction on manual n put it into comp, loading into window n new hardware detected, but it just cant install correct driver for it.
So i tot mayb is the network adapter faulty, i tried wif another new network card again, yet the same weird problem happened again. Hardware were detected and driver is unable to install. I tried to install it manually and what i got from window's message is tat the specified file does not contain information about the hardware.
I tot mayb my window files are corrupted, so i decided to format my hd and install a fresh window n try again.
Unfortunately, the same problem still haunting me again. The comp juz cant install a driver for my network adapter.
Is there any expert here can provide me solution on tis???
I put my lan cable to the net pci network card, there are light indicated on my router.

PCI network card

i bought a d-link pci network card to replace the onboad network card, after i install the new card and put it into the pc. Window can detect the new hardware...but unfortunately it unable to install the driver for me....i tried to install the driver from the CD and point the driver file manually..but window said the information of the driver is not correct... rite now window can only detected tat it is a ethernet controller with the yellow question mark on it....
here is the solution i tried:
tried many method such as switch the pci slot...
disabled the onboard lan card....
manually remove device description on regedit....
replace driver.cab from winxp cd...

i am getting frustrated...
any expert can help??

Monitor randomly lost signal

For past few week, my monitor got the strange problem which randomly lost signal when i leave my computer idle, my cpu led, fans and hd are still turning on but my monitor got no signal....after a reset then everyting work fine again....the problem juz occur randomly which really pissed me off..... anyone got the same problem? or any suggestion?? i would be glad to listen to it..

i am using HP business inkjet 1000, but the strange problem is that everytime i turn on my printer power, my printer are not detectable(usb), then i turn if off and turn on again, then the printer are now detected..i wonder what is the problem wif the printer...why need 2 turn on and off and on again??
is there any solution for it so tat i no need to turn it on n off and on everytime??
