HTC And Samsung Hit With Class Action Lawsuit Over

FYI...For those not in the loop, the controversy around Carrier IQ is based on developer Trevor Eckhart's findings which indicated that Carrier IQ's software was indeed collecting a vast array of information, and his demonstration showing that said data could be read using a simple command – one that could be executed by any malicious app with access to logcat. This data includes location information, SMS messages, and key taps.

Source

Google Maps Update Coming In Next Few Days

According to Andy Rubin who showed off an unannounced Motorola Android Honeycomb tablet, Google Maps for Mobile 5 was previewed, which features many improvements, and should be available on many Android handsets in the next few days.

Phones that will be able to use 100% of the new features are listed below:

* Galaxy S
* Droid
* Droid X
* Droid 2
* Droid Incredible
* Evo 4G
* Nexus S
* G2

Curiously, the Nexus One is not listed as one of those devices that will completely support the update. Apparently, the multi-touch capability of the Nexus One is not up to par to support the rotate feature. Other recent Android phones that are not listed should hopefully be able to support many, if not most of the new features.

Andy Rubin with Motorola Tablet Prototype with Honeycomb
