29th June 2025 – (Shanghai) LEGOLAND® Shanghai Resort, scheduled for a grand opening on 5th July, 2025, in Shanghai’s Jinshan district, is currently in its trial operation phase. On Saturday (28th), reports emerged of a malfunction on the “LEGO Flying Car” ride, leaving over ten visitors suspended on the tracks for more than 40 minutes. The theme park swiftly responded by organising the evacuation of guests, ensuring no injuries were reported.

According to online accounts, the incident occurred around noon last Saturday, where the malfunctioning ride was visibly halted while visitors were queuing up. Staff members were seen ascending to conduct repairs, all amidst sweltering temperatures. The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau issued a yellow high-temperature warning in the morning, later escalating to an orange alert in the afternoon, with Xujiahui station recording a high of 36.5°C, marking the seventh high-temperature day this year.

In response to the ride’s operational halt, LEGOLAND® Shanghai Resort promptly organised the evacuation of visitors once the issue was identified. All guests were safely escorted to ground level, with the malfunction lasting less than an hour. By 1 p.m., operations resumed as normal. The “LEGO Flying Car” attraction, situated in the LEGOLAND® Shanghai Resort’s “Imagination World” themed area, stands as one of the first global debut attractions within a LEGO-themed zone, considered a centerpiece and the resort’s longest roller coaster with a track length of 530 meters.
