Ticket bought at Puduraya Sentral

This afternoon, I went to Puduraya Sentral to purchase a one way ticket to Penang. This particular counter offered the best price. Interestingly, there's a lady in front of the ticket counter. There's nobody in the counter.

She told me she's the representative and she works for the ticket company. But she issued me a backdated ticket December 8th, 2014. She used a pen cancelled the date, time and seating arrangement and wrote on top of the printed details. I questioned her whether the ticket is valid by using a backdated printed ticket. She vehemently and loudly says it's totally valid. I just need to return back to the counter the next day to get the bus number.

When I questioned her why is it not printed? She said the printer is not working. I saw she's doing the same thing for few other passengers. I wanted to verify whether the ticket is valid or not. So I went to the information counter that is supposedly manned by UTC (Urban Transformation Centre), but both counters were without officer at all. So, the only option I had was to go to the police station at the ground floor and enquire weather this is valid or not.

The moment I popped out the question to the police officer, an elderly Chinese man sitting at the sofa (together with few others) in the station requested to check the ticket. Interestingly, he said he own the company. He quickly put three signatures on the ticket and assures me it's valid. Strange.....even the police officer was taken aback to see the owner in the station.

To summarize that, I think the lady who sold me the ticket is actually a 'kutu ticket' who pretend to represent the bus company. Yep, this is the first time I've experienced such an encounter.

Should I trust them - the ticket is valid? Headache!

[WTA] Cash withdrawal from ATM Machine

Dear LYN-ers,

Today I went to a CIMB ATM Machine in a shopping mall to withdraw a sizable amount of cash. The machine processed my request and the cash was ejected. However, I was too busy looking for some documents in my bag. The time lapse and it seems my cash was 'absorbed' back into CIMB ATM machine.

Upon checking my balance, the cash has been computed as withdrawn. I called up CIMB call centre for assistance, but was informed I need to contact my ATM Bank which is Public Bank. So when I called up PBB to report on the issue, they asked me to report the matter at a nearest PBB branch. So I went to the nearest PBB and filled up the claim form + given a photocopy of the withdrawal receipt.

I asked the bank customer care about when I can be reimbursed my cash, but she told me it is going to take long time. Upon checking with a senior official, it seems that it may take up to a month or even more, depending on when CIMB officers are collecting/updating their ATM machine in the shopping mall.

Does anyone face the same dilemma before? How long it takes to claim back your very own cash?

Thank you.

Dear LYN-ers,

I've been using my P1 wimax modem for over 3 years. Recently, the wires on the power adapter is kind of broken. As a result the modem no longer receiving power supply.

I've tried calling their cust care for three times, but was directed to voice mail that promised to return my call. Also I've written an email to them. It's been a week, but there's still no reply on their side.

Here's my two questions:
a) Can I get a new power adapter at P1 wimax in Lowyat Plaza?
b) Do I need to pay for the power adapter replacement?

Thank you for looking.

New pair of jeans

Dear LYN-ers,

I'm new to jeans/denim. Today bought a new pair of jeans. When I looked at the inner label, it is stated the dark blue color WILL bleed, WASH before wearing.

I've read a lot of forums regarding jeans color bleeding. From forum - many are saying that despite several washes, the color will still bleed into shoes, wallet +++.

I'm thinking of wearing my jeans with a T-shirt. Since the weather here in Klang Valley is hot, I'm expecting sweat on my T-shirt. Do you think the sweat will get into contact with my jeans and caused color bleeding into my shirt? What is the best way to prevent color bleeding? Some say vinegar soaking will do the trick.

Thank you for looking.

Microsoft Home & Student 2013 VS Google Docs

Dear LYN-ers,

My Microsoft Office 2013 (Trial Version) which was installed in my Windows 8.1 has expired. Before the expiry, I've been using both Word and Excel extensively - power user. After the trial expired, I tried using Google Docs (last few days), which is FOC as a replacement. The editing and formatting tools seems the same as in Word and Excel, but there's some teething issues, e.g. table formatting which look kind of odd when it is converted to PDF.

I'm thinking of spending RM 225 to purchase Office Home and Student 2013. Do you think it is well worth it? Or Google Docs is sufficient?

Hope to hear some comments from LYN-ers especially those been using Google Docs for a considerable period of time.

Is your salary negotiable?

Recently I've attended two job interviews. Both appointments were attended by Human Resource Manager (HRM) and top management team. The interview went well until the following question was brought up "Is your salary negotiable?"

I answered "I hope to get my expected salary". The response I got was kind of um...should I say 'mix'? My salary expectation is truly based on my working and proffesional experiences. Also, I did stated clearly in my Jobstreet resume my expected pay. If you compare my apllication with others (in JobStreet salary and academic analysis) for both job apllications, there are many others expected to be paid higher than mine with the same/lower academic qualification.

I felt the HRM needs to do more homework before calling up for interviews. They need to see whether they are comfortable with applicants' expected pay. Why asking for an interview if the company is unable to fulfilled the expected pay? Asking discount for employeses' pay? I felt quite annoyed with that question.

So guys, ho do you respond to that question? Is your salary negotiable?

Bus RapidKL U65 (Last Stop in Putra Heights?)

Dear LYNers,

I'll be working in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya. I did some research online and discovered RapidKL U65 is servicing road from Pasar Seni Hub to Putra Heights.

My workplace is close to Putra Point Business Centre in Putra Heights. When I checked RapidKL website, it mentioned that U65 last stop is Esso Putra Heights (which is another 20 minutes of walking to my workplace). Another website mentioned that U65 last stop is at Putra Point Business Centre itself.

Anyone traveled with U65 before? Which is the last stop? Esso Putra Heights or Putra Point Business Centre?

Thank you in advance.

Using PBB Visa Debit Card for Groccery Shopping

Hi Lyners,

I usually purchase my groccery items with cash. Recently I got myself a PBB Visa Debit Card (my first debit card) and I wanted to use the card for groccery shopping.

Since this will be my first purchase with a debit card, I have some questions:

1. Do I need to authorize my debit card for local groccery shopping or online purchase?
2. The PIN number requested by the cashier - is it the same PIN number we key into the ATM machine for cash withdrawal? or it is another different PIN?
3. Do I need to sign my purchase or my PIN number is already sufficient?

Thank you for looking into these enquiries.

P1 Wimax Monthly Quota Jumped to 41GB

Dear LYNers,

I've been using P1 Wimax for more than two years ++.

My monthly bill is RM89 for 20.5 GB allocation (special rate for loyal customer).

However, when I logged into P1 Self care page today, I noticed that the monthly allocation has jumped to to a WHOOPING 41 GB. That's really shocking - I mean my bill cycle is on the 14th of every month (so it's not the bill cycle yet). Also I did not purchase any new plan from them.

Is there a techincal error? or I'm a being rewarded with a 41 GB allocation?

Please refer to attached image. I tried to contact them, but the chat service is offline. Also I did not recieve any notification about giving 41GB to me via email.

Anyone have similar 'reward' or technical issue?

Job Acceptance Letter

Dear all,

A month ago, I went for a job interview in Ipoh town. It was a smooth interview with the management and corporate team. Two weeks later, I received a phone call from one of the senior members and they offered me the position I've applied. Strange enough, I was requested to confirm my 'verbal acceptance' via email which I did on the day itself. Weeks later, there is no response (nothing about the job acceptance letter). I do not wish to sound desperate, but since I need to make necessary arrangement (such as accommodation and transport in Ipoh), I made another enquiry again via email. I was informed that the offer letter shall be ready on the first week of August 2013. Another person requested two referees which I provided too. The whole process (from job interview to job acceptance letter) has now dragged to more than a month. That's the longest waiting time I've encountered for a job application process.

I'm supposed to report work on August 26th, 2013. Due to the lackluster response from the company, I'm thinking whether they are serious in hiring me or whether they had something else in their mind such as rescinded their job offer. I know I'm a bit impatient, but I really need a black and white job confirmation to get starting on moving to Ipoh and settle issues like accommodation, transport and others.

Here are the email correspondence I had with the company. What do you think? To wait not NOT to wait?

1. June 26th, 2013 - Received email for job interview:

2. Julu 12th, 2013 (16 days later) - Reply mail from the management:

3. July 20th, 2013 (8 days later) - Received reply after I made another enquiry:

4. July 23rd, 2013 (3 days later) - Request for referees:

5. Today...still waiting

Month long job application process. Is this the norm? Should I wait longer or move on to other job offer?

Dear mods,

I've posted a thread today in Credit Cards, Debit Cards and Loyalty Cards section. I needed to get some replies regarding PBB debit card overseas atm cash withdrawal and signatures needed during application.

When I checked back later today (10.29 p.m.) the thread is no longer there.

Kindly advice on the matter above. Why the thread was 'removed' or invisibled'?

Thank you

[WTA] Genting Outdoor Theme Park

Hi all,

I'm going to Genting Outdoor Theme Park for the first time on Wednesday (January 2nd, 2013).

I understand that the school holidays has ended. Here are my questions:

1. Do you think Genting Outdoor Theme Park will be crowded tomorrow?
2. I'm bringing my DSLR camera to take pictures. Do they allow us to carry backpack and cameras along during theme park ride? or do we need to keep our cameras before entering the outdoor theme park?

Thank you for looking

[WTA] Maybank Jelapang obtained my banking details

I've received numerous missed call today all the way from Maybank (MBB) Jelapang Branch in Perak.

Upon returning the calls, I found out the banking officers were trying to sell credit card to me. I was a bit taken aback when these people were having my full details including my full name. They informed me that my details were 'pulled up' randomly from their computer system.

I live and work in KL only have one saving accounts in MBB Kuala Lumpur (Main) - for salary banking. My question is, is it NORMAL for MBB branches (even from other states) to use my personal information and sell their products. If I received a call from MBB KL, I'm still OK with it...but all the way from Jelapang?

Did anyone face this kinda outstation call before? This is kind of scary...with my personal details being recycle all the way to Perak branch!

Thank you for looking into this thread.
