Database PC (Price preferably below rm5000)

- >128G SSD

- PSU - reliable quite one
- Casing with good dust filter and ventilation

Workstation (Price preferably below rm4000)

- i5 (or xeon?)

Among my other criteria:
1) Reliability

Can lower end mobo handle higher end CPU?

Hi All,

I've got an old Intel D845WN, which can support up to Intel P4 2.6 (*1). Existingly, it is running on a P41.6 cpu. I've got an old P43.0Ghz cpu lying around. Will the P43.0 work with the intel D845Wn at lower cpu speed? In other words, will the "system" still work, but running at 2.6ghz?

Desktop processor for vmware?

Hi Gurus,

Can anyone tell me which kind of desktop processor which VMware workstation can take advantage of?

if c2d, will 2mb or 4mb make a difference to vmware workstation? or will a dual core be sufficient?

how about AMD?

Planning to either run 4gb or 6gb of ram.

ps: if can suggest MB along will be appreciated.

Hi Experts,

My running system is a ABIT-IC7 with ddr400 512 Non-ECC ram running. I'm trying to upgrade my RAM to 2x1GB PC2100 DDR266 with ECC. I read that the motherboard does support 266 and "configurable ECC function". However, whenever I put the RAMS into slot 1 & 3, I'll keep on hearing long beeps. Any suggestions?
