Using netcat for a remote host

I have a remote machine that i dont have physical access to it. and my main machine is connected to the same subnet as the remote machine. I assume that the machine doesnt have Netcat installed. I want to copy a file from the remote machine to my main machine.

How can I use netcat in order to take a file from the remote machine? Can I run netcat in such a situation?

Does anyone here has the experience of modifying Netcat to provide encypted transfer via the network?

Im not an expert programmer but I do need this kind of special functionality..I need to copy files securely from a remote host inside network that I dont have physical access to it..but I have the root priviledge of accessing it from remote..
