[WTA] Gaming Laptop Recommendations

Hi guys,

I'm also an SPM graduate enquiring about gaming laptops.I believe theres a similar thread over here but it was closed down.I will be moving to Australia to further my studies, therefore portability will come into play but not much of a problem.

I've done many surveys, see reviews and youtube on the Alienware M17X-R2,Alienware M15X-R2 and the Asus G73JH-A1.Still the Crossfire 5870 of the M17X pawns it all,but if there are alternatives to this please do let me know.I've also heard the M15X-R2 can do almost anything the M17X-R2 can but the GFX for gaming is the problem.

Games are played are mostly FPS type, for example crysis,MW2,Left 4 dead 2 and mostly I do play competitively for the game counter-strike source.I also played MMO games like WoW,not much since im playing on a private server.

M17X-R2 is indeed pricey after getting a quote from putochip which is the best price provided so far since I have looked around according to the specs which he had gave me.

I have a month left to go and hope everyone here could provide me the best and promising suggestions to be made so that I have enough time to make preparations before its too late.

I would personally like to utilize the lappy to its maximum performance as the main purpose are mostly gaming, musics and my work.Basically,I'm not just sticking myself to Alienware because of the name/brand but the results of the reviews and benchmark results they have performed.Other brands like the Asus,MSI are warmly/mostly welcomed to be in this thread as to let me know the comparison between this laptops.

Besides,I've heard that Sandy Bridge will be launching January next year? Not sure if the R3 versions of alienware will be available by then.Lets hope the price wouldnt be overboard. Is it worth the time waiting for the R3 version to be launched?

Hope to hear from you guys! Thanks
