DCC file transfer will start, but the download rate will drop to 0 and later time out. Wondering if anyone else is experience this issue lately or is it just me and something to do with my setup.

I got back my handphone number today (got mugged and had my handphone stolen) and I received three miss calls from the same number:

Does anyone know where this number is from?

This morning (7am) I got mugged on my way to work (Menara Maybank) from Masjid Jamek LRT station. 5 young Malay youths attacked me from behind and took my handphone and my wallet.

Now I sit here with a bruise on my left eye and ear, muscle cramps and headache. Yeah, I tried to fight back, but I guess it wasn't much of a fight as it was a struggle. However, overall I'm fine and sorted out with all my missing stuff.

But something has been brothering me now that I am home resting.

When I was getting mugged and trying to fight off these criminals, people around were just looking. Drivers at the nearby intersection also watched the struggle. Only when the attackers ran away with my goods and I looked around myself I realized that there were other people around that saw the incident.

I feel disappointed that I live in a society where people can get attacked in front of people and no one does anything to help. I know not everyone can help, but there are those that can and should.

Now I'm no exception to this, I too would avoid these incidents. Who knows, when you help out, you yourself might become a victim too.

However, now being a victim of a crime like this and seeing how it could've been so easily prevented if the public just helped out those in need, I think I will change my attitude. I just hope when I witness such an event, I can summon the courage to assist the victim.

We, myself include, always blame the police for the high crime nowadays, but after my experience I think a lot of these crimes can be solved by citizen/public action. It's our country, it's our responsibility to make it safe for ourselves and our children. Because by just looking at criminals committing a crime and get away with it, we are as guilty as them for not helping.

Anyway, please be careful when you go out. Carry the minimum amount of things you need when you are out. Go out in a groups and don't stay out late.
