[SOLVED]File Recovery Problem

Hi guys, I really need help from you all. Please.

I was reformatting my brother's Acer laptop with recovery disc provided by Acer. It is an 80 GB hard disk with two partition; one 20 GB empty partition prepared for Windows installation, another partition is filled with files/backup.

I am supposed to keep that partition filled with files/backup, and reformat Windows to the 20 GB partition. The thing is that I wasn't given any option to choose which partition to reinstall Windows to, and unfortunately the recovery disc chose the partition that is filled with files/backup. I notice that after 2 to 3 minutes of the recovery process is started, Windows files was being copied to the hard disk. I immediately shutdown the laptop by pressing "ctrl+alt+delete" followed by the power button. I then took out the hard disk, put it in to a external hard disk casing, and hoping for files recovery by using a software called "PC Inspector File Recovery".

Now here is the problem, lost files are found, but then they are in weird naming, and constant file size(at 1474560 Byte.) as shown below

*Please do tell me if the image link is broken, I will upload it again.

Please help me.

Got back almost all the files with Recover My Files.

[SOLVED]Problem connecting to the internet

First of all, I am sorry for not following the topic template provided because I don't really have the information.
I still haven't got my hand on that computer yet, just want to ask you all what the potential/possible problem is.

The problem is like this, my friend's computer cannot connect to the internet. It might sound simple, but I am now scratching my head till almost bleeding already.

The thing is, only that particular computer can't access to the internet, all other computers in the same house sharing the same Streamyx using the same router have no problem connecting to the internet.

Friend have tried:

Tested with different port on the router at home, still can't connect.
Tested with housemate(who have no problem to online)'s LAN cable and same port used on the router, can't connect.

Brought that particular computer to a computer shop, no problem connecting to the internet at there.

Sounds kinda weird to me...
I apologize for posting this thread before even touching the computer myself, just hope that I can figure out something before that. Thank you all, your help is much appreciated.

p/s: MAC address of the (onboard) NIC is blocked by the router used in friend's house?

[SOLVED] New problem arised. [IE, flash, .ppt]

1.) How many simultaneous file sharing connection can a Windows XP computer have?
I have problem with my company computers. It's like there is limited connection to a shared resources on a computer that used as a "server". Sometimes a few computers cannot access the shared resource on the "server", they need to wait until other computers stop using that shared resources then only can access.

2.) Can we manually set the amount of free RAM of Windows XP upon startup?
Many of my company computers are still P4 1.4 GHz with only 128 MB SDRAM. So after the startup process and ready, the free RAM is like only 12 MB to 40 MB. Sometimes 12, sometimes can be up to 40. So when it is 12 MB, the computer can be really slow. It is a little better when the free RAM is ~ 40 MB.
Is there way to set it?

Much appreciate your helps.

My friend bought a Klipsch GMX A 2.1, and he said he is very very disappointed - it sounds too bright.
Can changing the cable solve it and improve the sound quality?
If yes, any recommendation? Budget type please.
