Earbud Cushions - Where can I buy them from?

I posted this in the Apple section but I thought I needed to post this here as well, otherwise people here wont read there and vice versa.

Looking high and low for something as simple as earphone/headset foam cushions such as these:

Anyone knows where I can find these foam cushions in PJ/KL? I don't need the multicolour ear cushions. I just need plain black or whatever colour foam cushions that are available.

Mine are ripped and damaged and the sound quality on my headphones is inferior without the cushions. They also make the headphones a better fit in my ear.

Help.......

I am actually using my wife's iphone/ipod headset on my HTC Desire coz the HTC headphones are damaged. I need the cushions otherwise the fit and sound quallity are crap without the cushions.

Google 'other' calendar not syncing to my phone

I have done everything correctly in Google calendar to make visible all my personal calendars and 1 'other' calendar (football schedule for Manchester United). I can see all calendars properly in my website browser. When I sync with my Htc desire, I do not see the 'other' calendar on the list of calendars to show, whether I use the stock calendar application or my preferred Calengoo app.

I have tried refreshing, redownloading, cleared all calendar data in 'manage applications' under settings and resyncing. Still cannot show.

Any ideas anyone? Can someone try one of these sport calendars under other calendars in Google and see if can sync to the phone. Thanks.

New to Virtual Private Network (VPN) software

Tried my cousin's Overplay.net VPN subscription to test out. I don't understand 1 thing though. Hope someone can help me understand the VPN setup.

I use a wireless router for streamyx at home. I have 2 notebooks and 1 PC connected to the router usually. Now, to use the Overplay VPN, I have to install a piece of software on my notebook and with the user ID and password , only that notebook is connected to the VPN server overseas. The other notebook and PC would not be connected.

I noticed the IP address for the notebook connected to the VPN would correctly show a foreign server while the other notebook and PC not connected to the VPN would show TM's server. I seem to be able to surf the net on all 3 computers at the same time even though 1 is connected to the VPN and the other 2 are not.

Problem is the VPN connection, although active on the 1 notebook, suddenly cannot surf the net using the foreign server. My torrent downloads went from decent speeds to zero all of a sudden for no reason. When I disable the VPN, can surf again using TM's server.

So, I'm confused as to how this VPN thing works when used with a router. In particular, if I want all 3 computers to connect to the VPN at the some time via my wireless router, how to do that?

Did a search on google but could not find an answer.

Hard drive failure

Hope someone can help me out here. I want to recover some family photos from a non bootable hard drive.

I have an IBM thinkpad R50 series, runnning win XP which I have been using as a backup laptop for many years. It uses a hitachi 40Gig harddrive.

I had the Blue Screen Of Death yesterday and cannot boot up with "unmountable boot volume" error. So, I tried the following steps after doing a lot of reading on the internet:

1. I tried chkdsk /p and also /r, using windows XP install disc for recovery. In both cases the check stopped at 33% and said unrecoverable error.

2. I then downloaded Hitachi's drive health utility and ran diagnostics. Advanced scan returned error saying defective hard disk drive component.

3. I then tried running Knoppix Linux live CD to try and access the data on the drive. Knoppix boots up fine from the CD but I can only see a drive called "sha" (shouldn't it have been "hda" instead because the hard disk is IDE and not SATA?). Click on that and it says : "error a job is pending on /dev/sda1".

Search on the internet tells me sda1 is boot partition. So, I guess my boot partition has a hardware failure of some sort from all the disgnostics I have run.

I can't seem to access the rest of the drive. I only want to see if I can recover a whole lot of family photos.

Please help. Running out of ideas here.

My review of Acer AO522 after using for 2 days

Since there seems to be many people interested in knowing how the C50 performs in real life vs Interl Atom 570, here's my 2 cents:

1. First off, the big big big difference to me is the High Def 1280x720 display. The Intel's display is only 1024x600. Even at the shop when testing the netbooks, especially displaying graphs & text, the HD display is so much richer, crisper and impressive. Once I compared the displays side by side, I already knew the low res 1024x600 was a deal breaker.

2. I have used my new AO522 for 2 days, installing firefox 4, Java (since I use Java stock charting a lot), k-lite codec pack standard for Media player classic/Home cinema and some other stuff.

I have tried opening multiple web pages, together with my stock charting graphs, using both IE and firefox at the same time and having a stock gadget (windows sidebar gadget) open at all times and a few other system monitoring gadgets too.

I have installed Kaspersky internet security 11.

Bottom line: I have been very impressed with the performance of the AO522. The AMD C50 chip with the onboard graphics card packed into a small computer which I can carry around under my arm is fantastic. I don't care about benchmark tests etc etc because for the real world stuff I do on the netbook while on the go, and some are pretty intense stuff such as real time stock charting and surfing the net at the same time, the whole package just works and works well. The HD display simply a winner here.

And btw, I have played my fifth gear .avi files using media player classic and the videos look great on the HD display.

Battery life is good for my use. I haven't used it for many hours straight so cannot really comment in depth. But I don't really play videos on the thing so maybe that's why my battery life seems pretty decent.

So, my verdict is that the AO522 is great little computer, given it's size. I am glad I discovered this HD display netbook because if I had bought the Intel Atom netbook instead, I would have regretted it big time.

Would be glad to take any questions.

And oh, since I paid a higher price of $1,299 instead of the purported discounted $1,149 for the unit, I am open to accepting donations for this review. Your contributions would be greatly appreciated. He he.

Is it worthwhile waiting for PC Fair to buy?

As the title thread suggests, I am looking to buy the Acer AO522 netbook. Or maybe the W500 tablet.

If I want to buy AO522 netbook today, would it be a mistake since PC fair is round the corner? or no difference in price usually? Price seems to be fixed at RM1,299. Anyone knows a better price for the AO522?

On the other hand, I can't find anywhere to test the new W500 tablet, all Acer concept stores don't have test unit yet and I missed the 4 day show @ lowyat plaza.

My head says to buy the netbook, my heart says wait for the tablet. I suspect the windows 7 tablet will be frustrating to use since a simple thing like firefox/IE would not respond to finger flicks to scroll a page the way you would expect Android/Ipad browsers to scroll, if you know what I mean.

HTC Desire as Wifi Hotspot - Problem connecting

Would appreciate some help to sort out this annoying wifi tethering problem I am having.

I am trying to connect my Fujitsu notebook to the internet using my Maxis 3G connection through wifi on my HTC Desire. The wifi connection is always successful but when I try to surf the internet using my Fujitsu, it says that it cannot connect to the internet although the wifi connection is ok.

My wife's IPad on the other hand connects to the internet without any problems using my Desire as a wifi hotspot.

Is there some setting that I should be fixing on my Fujitsu? Oh, and by the way, my trusty Fujitsu runs Windows Vista.

I am not an Apple fan, so I better sort this out or else my wife will laugh at me for being an Apple hater.

Repeating calendar events suddenly 1 hour off

All repeating calendar events suddenly became 1 hour later, eg. 1pm weekly repeating event suddenly became 2pm.

Noticed this happened as soon as DST took effect 2 days ago I think, although my time zone setting is GMT +8, Malaysia.

Anyone else got this problem? Can't seem to google for solution. Can't be a yearly problem. What is Google doing lah with something as basic as calendar function.

FM Radio via Bluetooth Headset - How to?

I need to use bluetooth headset for FM radio when in the gym, but we all already know that you need to plug in wired headset to use as antenna.

Problem is, as soon as you plug in wired headset, music goes to the wired headset. You can only choose to route music to the speakers by default.

So, the question is, does anyone know how I can route FM radio music to the bluetooth headset instead of to the speakers? I don't mind leaving the wires attached for use as antenna.

This must be possible through some fix or 3rd party software that I am not aware about.

Please help.......

Bookshelf speaker stands with hidden cables

Been looking high and low for speaker stands (for my wharfedale diamonds 9.1) where the speaker cables can be hidden in the shaft of the stands. All shops i've been to in kl/pj have stands but cannot hide cables. I've been to amcorp mall, city square, one utama, ss2 etc etc without success.

Only ones I've seen with cable management is the Bose speaker stand (unfortunately not quite the proper dimension) and Omnimount (but the distributor does not have them, have to order and have to wait 3-4 months).

So, can someone please help me out and let me know where I can find such stands.

Dropped my Treo600 on the floor today and and the Treo froze. When I tried to do a soft reset, my Treo just switched off and I could not switch it back on.

I opened up the unit and checked the battery connection (just troubleshooting), jiggled the connection a bit then all of a sudden the unit switched on like a hard reset. I jiggled the connection again as a test then all of a sudden unit switched off again. I can't get the unit to switch on anymore.

I need to locate a shop that sells the Treo600 replacement battery so that I can test if the battery is the faulty item. The Treo600 battery has circuitry on it so that could be the problem.

Anyone can give me an idea on where I can find the battery, or alternatively which shop can I go to to perhaps get my Treo checked and repaired if needed?

WinXP - How to save extended desktop scheme?

Every morning at the office, I would power up my laptop and attach an LCD monitor to use as extended desktop. Since the monitor is 17' LCD and is on the left hand side, I would need to (1) click on extended desktop to extend view to monitor, then (2) set monitor for left hand side orientation and finally (3) click to select 1280*1024 resolution. That's 3 steps that I have to do to get my scheme up and running.

How do I save this scheme in WinXP so that with one click, it can do all 3 steps every morning? I have tried a quick search on google for a solution but came up with nothing.

BTW, the reason why I need to do this every morning is because at night, I would power up the laptop at home as a standalone without extended desktop and the extended desktop scheme I use in the daytime disappears.

Also, I have tried the "save scheme" function available when I right click on empty windows xp background, but that doesn't save my extended desktop scheme.

Let me try and summarise my problem:

1. I had installed Adobe Acrobat Professional 6 long time ago and everything was OK until suddenly yesterday I could not create Adobe document anymore. Program said I have missing component in program and requested I insert setup CD for missing components.

2. I inserted setup CD and "repaired" program but suddenly error came out saying error: cannot create C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Adobe PDF 6.0 folder. Therefore cannot continue setup. Had to abort.

3. I did a full uninstall of the existing program from my notebook and then started from scratch to install fresh Adobe Acrobat Pro 6 from CD. Again same problem, error saying cannot create C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Adobe PDF 6.0 folder. Therefore cannot continue setup.

4. In windows explorer, the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents folder already exists but I cannot click on it. Always "access is denied". Properties show that this folder is empty (0 bytes) but I can't rename, move, change or delete this folder. Says that "Documents" is a windows system folder and is required for windows to run properly etc.

I presume this is the problem. Adobe wants to create a subfolder in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents, but access to the folder is denied.

Can someone help me shed some light on this problem?

My Dell Optiplex GX150

Need help pls.

I previously bought a used mini Dell PC PIII 900+mhz. I think it's an Optiplex GX150. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out the slots shon in the picture attached.

Motherboard picture attached - Can someone help me identify:

1. the unused white slot on the left, next to the power supply

2. the brown slot with green plastic clip surrounding it. What is this?

I'm actually trying to figure out if there is an AGP slot for me to insert a graphics card.

This PC casing is a mini casing and it seems Dell designed the motherboard with some limitations. I just realised I could not install more than 512 mb of RAM, if I install more it won't boot.

So, I'm just wondering if there is a slot for graphics card and if got any limitations on what sort of graphics card i can use.
