FTTH Showdown Thread. Unifi Maxis Time Celcom etc.

This is not a rant thread (please do not post rant), take it as a FTTH performance evaluation thread where everyone looking here knows what the FTTH ISP is really offering.

Mind that network changes and improves, so the post date is the time reference.

Everyone with FTTH are welcomed to participate.

State your plans and note able offers (e.g. free calls, IPTV etc. etc.)
Speedtest of what you are really getting form local and overseas (if you got 2nd ISP line for comparison whatever is FTTH or ADSL, better!). You can post as plain text of screenshots.
Also do state if you are using VPN.

my example

Maxis fiber 10Mbps RM148 plan with free calls (100min maxis mobile and 100min IDD)

Speed to local servers: in normal case MAX speed, per connection.
Speed to overseas servers: Very bad, often 50KBytes/s per connection. Spam 20 connection for full speed (if server allows). neighbor countries like Singapore have fair to max speed, otherwise it's just 50KByte/s or worst per connection.

Using BolehVPN improve the speed downloading from overseas servers slightly but speed is around 50~250KBytes/s per connection.

Speed to Cloud Storage: in my case google drive and sky drive, speed is fair around 5Mbps U/D speed.

Facebook: slow loding, slower tham my 4mbps streamyx side-by-side, cannot play facebook video smoothly (need cache before play). (No such problem compared to 4Mbps Streamyx)

Steam (Game): Game download ok if server is set to Malaysia. cannot play game trailer video smoothly from either website or steam client itself (need cache before play).

Youtube: can play 1080p smoothly often, no problem.

NicoVideo: Very bad speed, 50~150KByte/s cap on best case scenerio, i get 360KByte/s with my 4mbps streamyx.

Online gaming: Malaysia/Singapore server most is ok, some disaster. oversea some is ok and most disaster. I am comparing with my 4mbps streamyx, for e.g. tera Maxis 600-800ping streamyx 200-300 ping.

at last P2P: Totally no peoblem!!! 10Mbps at RM148!!!! whow!!!!

Oversea Speed test screenshot:
Japan tokyo:
[attachmentid=3489648]

[Survey] Anyone intrested in portable vocaloid

<s>I wonder if anyone interested to get one. Not really cheap but affordable if you can afford a 9.7 inch tablet.
Take it as technology from Mars if you don't get it. (in one of the video i got myself one for 22' display, but that is super expansive and too fragile.)

Reply/PM if interested

Edit: Removed links not relevant to the survey This survey is to check is Malaysian vocaloid culture already mature enough to appreciate these kind of "De facto" DIY toy.</s>

Survey Ended, I clearly received the Malaysian or lowyat style response, no offense taken but i think i am done posting related topic here. Thank You for whoever participated. Better stick with Japan-Taiwan-China Communities! PM me if really interested with this toy.

[attachmentid=3304683]

To Mod, Can lock this topic?
Sigh, Malaysia still got a long way to go.

Edit: Request for topic lock.

Maxis Home fiber

Maxis Home fiber is slow on most sites but torrent ok!

Just a use report on MAXIS Home Fiber 10mbps

most of the legit overseas sites are capped to 50KB/s per connection.

However torrent is still running 6mbps as long as u got enough peers.

They have some bad routes that some Singapore battlefield 3 servers are routed to HK routes that resulted in 190 pings. well, and more of course.

in conclusion this line is only good for P2P for now. If P2P is capped this line us just another 512kbps line for single download.

on the bright side, ppl playing online games may not have to worry about bandwidth hoggers using this line. (if u got roommates)

oh, btw. I complained and they blame me not using download acceleration tools...

Ok... Looks like TM's got their "NEW" shaping server up

but it is not gone yet, we still can "fight back"

Everybody do this
run Proxomitron for every single connection.

according to some test, it might overload TM's shaping server easily but normal connection unaffected. 1-2 ppl do it less effect if everyone do it, Tm have to shut down their shaping server else they loss millions in business (Just make them pay for it)

Note: remember to set Headers -> User Agent to one of something there or you add your own. e.g. Mozilla/4.61 [ja] (X11; I; Linux.FxxK.TMNUT i686) at outbound connection only. Confuse them kao kao.

hehehe... so evil.

I was seeding some stuff but got shaped and they actually "scramble" the packets (uploaded 10MB but tracker shows i only done 0.5MB which is only 2 part success, never happened before). therefore i use Proxomitron and SPAM the connection that will reach the shaping server for a few hours. Come back than run my torrent seeding again. No problem liao (but after few hours problem come back.)

AMD X2 5000+ 65nm temperature

I just got a new rig recently and i found out my CPU is throttling like 2600mhz -> 1000mhz -> 2600mhz -> 1000mhz -> 2600mhz every second while playing games. (a.k.a it's throttling)

So I download prime95 and do a full load testing (running 2 instance) I found that my CPU temp hit 65c in 30 seconds (then the throttling starts) and BSoD in less then 5 min (Temp around 75~80 C).

I also open up the case and touch the heatsink, below is some comparison with my other rig:

AMD Athlon XP 1900+ running at 59 C = The heat sink is hot, can cook!
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 65nm 2600Mhz under stress test at 65 C = The heatsink is just warm

At first i thought is the stock compound is not good enough so i re-apply with some Arctic Silver but that is not helping much. (well, can lasts longer before BSoD. at least can nearly "touch" the 5 min milestone)

Wanna ask, is this 'normal' for you guys running AMD Athlon 64 X2? or i need to get a better cooler like THE Big Typhoon.

Note: all the drivers and dual core patch is installed.

My Machine Spec:
MSI K9N Neo-F V3 (MS-7369) <-- yaay~ RMAed and changed to ASUS M2N-E and now running smooth~ (finally i can play games.)
AMD X2 5000+ 65nm 2600Mhz (Stock HS+F running at 3k RPM) <--- changed HS+F to BIG Typ 120VX after i confirmed my tempeture problem fixed. now running coooollll
2 GB DDR2-800 RAM (with heat sink plates)
Silver Stone 560W PSU (1x 120mm fans)
CoolerMaster Case (2x 120mm fans)
320GB SATA HDD
MSI ATI Readon HD 2600XT Diamond 512MB DDR4
(FYI guys, ATI HD 2xxx sucks, lots of compatibilities issue like texture alpha not working plus HDR issue(e.g. see http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=534734 ). and i doubt they gonna fix that, already tested a few version of driver. get the green ones instead for DX10 card atm.)
