Background Screening

I have been offerred a conditional offer letter from an OnG industry.

I need to pass my medical and also my background screening only then they can provide me a unconditional offer.

Problem now is that... I do not know whether they will call up my existing co. or not... My reference is my acting team lead which she seems not willing to be my referral(I put her and the other HR manager), according to my acting team lead, my boss has put a firm warning that no one should be referral to any other employee in the co to avoid jumpship.

I'm so worried that they called my boss and he/she bad mouthed me and my career opportunity will be ruined

I have a problem that needs some opinions here:

I am working for A company currently, but I'm also looking for other jobs at the same time (due to A company couldn't satisfy my ideal workplace).

The problem is, each time I were to go for an interview, the company would ask for my 'reference'. Which I am unable to provide (I can't put my current boss as my reference, as there is one time, my colleague did the same thing, ended up my current boss bad mouth her to her potential future employer). I am afraid of the same situation happening to me, hence I'm struggling to consider who can I put as my reference

Can I just put some of my other colleagues (not my superior) as my reference?
