Maxis reduce credit term

Hi everyone,
Was so pissed to know Maxis reduce our credit days to 25 days from 1 month previously,
they do not inform you but just blast SMS to inform your line will be barred if you pay late
and their message is very lansi, I think their communication dept really sucks big time, dont even know how to write a courteous letter by starting with Thank you for using Maxis, they started with incase you may have fogotten......

I have been with Maxis for more than 20 years, Maxis have never offered anything to their loyal customers, always milk them and think we die die must use their service, there are so many other telcos outside, whcih I think I will port out to soon.

new comers and people who threaten to port out will get special offers, but loyal customers which are fixed deposits are being left out.

by reducing number of days credit to 25 days, they will have a better cash flow, but they never think of customer's at all. now they reduce by 5 days to 25 days, sooner or later they will reduce it again. why not just convert all to pre-paid la. their CFO very smart but we are not stupid.

Soon, either after my contract expires or I check my penalty, I will port out to other telcos.

I bought an Alpha instant water heater in July 2022
the product failed on new years day - after 5 months of usage
looked for warranty card and receipt
Alpha you either call their CS hotline or whatsapp their number
called but the line is not available - terminated or non available
whats app their line on 3rd Jan morning
no reply at all
received reply to input my name, address etc evening
after sending in the details they replied asking for photo, warranty card etc
send in 04.01 morning
no acknowldegement, no reply
keep asking for reply, can see on line status but no reply
3.30pm, received reply saying will arrange technician on 11.01 (1 week later)
technician will call on 11.01 morning to make appointment with me

1 ) Alpha CS service is so lousy. so slow and you will not know anyone working there or not because no acknowldgement
2 ) need to wait 1 week for technician to call you to make appointment - dont know what time they will come, means need to wait whole day at home for the phone call? if take leave they dont call or cannot make it on the day means waste my time?

next time when buy appliances, please take note to buy from reputable brands which offers good Customer service, I have been a loyal Alpha customer for long time, but this experience teach me to avoid them at all cost from now onwards.

Hi,

I am using Iphone 13 on Maxis plan
recently upgraded software to 16.2
noticed my phone is on VOwifi when I am logged into Wifi area, eg. house.
does this mean that when I am in wifi, Maxis actually forcing me to use Wifi for phone calls, meaning I am actually using my Unifi.
meaning Maxis short changing me?

what do you guy think?

Astro Ultra Box Upgrade

just received a phone call from Astro this morning, they ask if I am effected by Astro not working yesterday (whole day), after I say yes,
they started with their marketing gimmick, say will upgrade my Astro to Ultra box for free, all I need is fiber line with speed exceeding 10Mbps

I was happy that at last astro is doing something, but suprised after talking to find out there is a 24 months contract for this.
just for sharing, I have been a Astro user for more than 10 years, now using the Beyond unit (with HDD) with monthly subscription of MYR 172.80
if they know how to take care of customers, this upgrade should be free and no contract is forced, but they were greedy

what turned me off is they purposely make my Astro not viewable for the whole day yesterday, while my poor mom was not able to watch and grumbled at me the whole day.
at first I thought it was technical issue, live with it
until I get to know from the Astro guy that this is done on purpose, so they can come and approach me to upgrade (forcing a 24 months contract)

To Astro - This is very un-ethical and it is very un-fair to your customers. you should not disrupt your subscribers services on purpose to force an upgrade to your system with contract.

Credit Card Annual Fee Waiver

just been charged MYR600 for annual fees on my credit card and when I called customer service, was told that their bank only will waive 50% which is MYR300 and I need to pay the balance.

The thing is the bank called and offer me Cash on call last month and I took it up, so seems they are squeezing me to pay extra (annual fees) and do not want to give me a full waiver

may I ask for advice here, I do have another card issued by the same bank (one visa and one master), possible for me to cancel the annual fee card and transfer my so called COC balance to the other card?

I have also been told that I cannot early settle the COC as it incurs 5% early settlement penalty.

Please help

Grab food / Food Panda riders are dangerous

Since MCO, I noticed a lot of Grab food and Food Panda deliveries rider are riding dangerously fast, jumping traffic light, and riding against the flow (wrong way), this is getting very worrysome as more and more accidents happen

I also nearly knock into 1 of this grab riders yesterday, because he is riding against traffic flow, and I didnt notice him on a bend. Lucky I managed to avoid hitting him and when I horn him, he horned back. WTH.

please share your thoughts as I feel this riders are getting dangerous and the authorities should take action against them, or the company (GRAB/Food Panda) should take some action like report hotline so that peopl can complaint and riders get penalized.

KUALA LUMPUR (ANN): Malaysia has quietly awarded the highly sought-after 5G telecommunications spectrum to several players, including the little-known Altel, a firm controlled by the reclusive but politically connected tycoon Syed Mokhtar al-Bukhary, seemingly without an open tender previously promised.

The May 15 decision, signed off by Communications and Multimedia Minister Saifuddin Abdullah, went unannounced to the public and appears to be the first major reversal of infrastructure policy by the three-month-old Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.

Prior to being ousted in February, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration had promised an open tender to allocate the spectrum - reserved frequencies to avoid interference of transmission - but encouraged industry players to form a consortium that would avoid duplication of heavy expenses in rolling out infrastructure for the next generation broadband service.

"The commission will take immediate action under the Act and laws on relevant subsidiaries to implement the spectrum assignment to all licence holders," Datuk Seri Saifuddin, who was foreign minister under PH, said in the order to regulator Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Despite much fanfare concerning the potential of 5G services - which could be up to 20 times faster than current 4G mobile connections - the signed orders were only uploaded to the MCMC website in a buried section on spectrums, with no media statements issued since.

The rollout of 5G is a key plank in the RM22 billion (S$7.2 billion) National Fiberisation and Connectivity Plan, which PN has promised would continue despite the change of government.

A check on the MCMC website found that no tenders were called, and executives from various telecoms firms also told The Straits Times they were not aware of any invitations to bid for the spectrum.

"It is strange because some of the companies that were awarded are public listed. They would have to announce it to the stock exchange once they are aware as there are also hundreds of millions in fees involved," one executive who spoke on condition of anonymity said.

Leading mobile service providers Maxis, Celcom and DiGi were awarded two bands of 10 megahertz (2x10MHz), while Altel, despite being a minor player, was given 2x5MHz. Telekom Malaysia, the state telecommunications firm which largely operates fixed line services, was allocated 2x5MHz.

Telcos must pay an upfront sum as well as annual fees for spectrum allocations. Although not fixed, some firms have paid up to RM600 million upfront, with RM51 million in annual fees for their allotments which last for over 15 years.

Maxis proposed to MCMC during last year's stakeholder engagements on 5G that a 2x10MHz band in the 700MHz range allocated last month be charged at RM323.3 million upfront with a RM27.8 million annual fee.

However, it is not known if any fees have been agreed for the 5G spectrum. The Communications and Multimedia Ministry did not respond to requests for comment.

Altel, a subsidiary of Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar's Puncak Semangat, was awarded the most amount of spectrum in the 2.6GHz band to deploy 4G services by MCMC in late 2012. Instead of building up its own infrastructure, it leased the spectrum to other telcos and piggybacked on Celcom to offer services as a mobile virtual network operator.

The government's role in how Syed Mokhtar built his business empire to become one of Malaysia's richest men has been criticised for decades. The tycoon runs various monopolies based on government licences such as in the distribution of rice and inspection of road vehicles, and controls the postal service, several ports and media companies. – Straits Times/Asia News Network

Johor govt hopes to reopen border with S'pore

KOTA ISKANDAR: The Johor state government says it hopes to reopen the border with Singapore within the next few days.

Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said this would be done with more stringent health checks on both sides of the border.

“We are coming up with a mitigation plan during this Covid-19 outbreak.

“Among the categories exempted are those with work passes by Malaysia or Singapore, students studying in Singapore, those with specialised skills, businessmen, those involved in logistics and others that would be announced soon, ” he added.

Hasni said this during a press conference after the state executive councillors meeting held at Kota Iskandar here on Wednesday (March 18).

He said a special committee headed by him, the state secretary and state security council would discuss the matter today, and that would have a discussion with their Singaporean counterparts the day after before they forwarded the matter to the Federal Government for announcement.

Beginning Wednesday, the border between Malaysia and Singapore has been locked down, except for lorries and people with special permission.
