Unibody Macbook Pro & 1080p

I don't know if this is normal but my mbp can't seem to get 1080p 60Hz. Can only get up to 1080i despite using SwitchX to custom out some new settings. I am using apple's mini display > DVI adapter; DVI > HDMI cable. Also is sure that my TV supports 1080p. The best I can get by using SwitchX is to custom a 1080p @ 30Hz. Mind you at 30Hz everything you move looks horribly bad... I wonder anybody with the same setup able to get 1080p?
