New Rule About The F Word

OK, so I demand some explanation.

I got 10% warn for using the "F" word like this :
"What the F was he thinking?"

That's it.

That's all.

I can't believe it.

I have seen SO MANY others use it. SO MANY.

Hilarious, even the thread where I complain about this there is the use of the "F" word in another way.

I complaint about mod: Goldfries.

His comments (PM) include (interpreted by me) : I kena this because of bad luck.
He went on to talk about policeman giving saman, not everyone he give, etc. etc.

And then I PM-ed asj. Another mod. At least he was kind enough to let me know this and that. I calmed down again.

Then Goldfries PM-ed me again and that's it... I got super mad

Can't use Firefox and Live Messenger

Lately, after I reinstalled Firefox and Live Messenger, I can no longer use them both.

At first I thought firewall issue. No issues there. There are exceptions to let Firefox and Live Messenger on the firewall.

Not sure about the connection settings though. I believe its got to do with IE7's settings.

Using Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit.

Live Messenger (latest) for Vista

Searched Google, tried the steps, nothing worked....

I would say life is so much more easier with Windows Vista(tm). This is true, from my point of view. Things have changed a lot since Windows XP(tm). I don't know about you guys, but I do have a liking for Vista. Here's the great stuff I do on Vista...

I do not represent Microsoft(tm), but this is what I experience with Vista.

Burning DVDs Has Never Been This Easy
With the the new Live File System, all I need to do is pop in a blank DVD, format it with the Live File System, and its ready! Just drag and drop any files you want to store onto the DVD. When done, just pop the disc back out... how easy is that ?

Windows Media Center - - one stop for TV shows
Microsoft(tm) has introduced new online media that includes TV shows. Currently in Beta, you can watch all kinds of show from MTV to Discovery Channel to Nickelodean. I usually watch Nickelodean, its great fun. In Nickelodean, you get shows like Zoey 101, Jimmy Neutron, Spongebob Squarepants even Drake & Josh. Discovery Channel has many shows too. Been watching for a few weeks already.

Games Explorer
I hear some of you say "no big deal". But hey, isn't it great to have a place where your games are all placed in a particular location? Also, those big sexy icons... that's pretty. Games that don't appear in Games Explorer, just drag and drop the game shorcut.

Hmm... what else... there are many other Vista features that I love...

I wonder what you guys think and love about Vista? These are stuff Windows XP does not have...

Game Engine:
Far Cry 2 will not use CryTek's CryENGINE (from the original game) or CryENGINE2 (which is used in Crysis). Instead, Ubisoft has developed a new engine called Dunia, meaning "world" or "earth" in Arabic, Greek, Persian, Hindi, Urdu, Swahili and Malay languages. The engine will take advantage of multi-core processors and support DirectX 9 as well as DirectX 10. Only 2 or 3 percent of the original CryENGINE code is being re-used, according to Michiel Verheijdt, Senior Product Manager for Ubisoft Netherlands.
Edit : That said, no wonder the Xbox 360 can handle it...

Ubisoft has unsurprisingly decided that Far Cry 2 will not be PC exclusive, but be available on PS3 and Xbox 360 as well.

The game is being put together by its Montreal studio and will run on a fancy new engine built especially for it.

Action this time takes place in Africa, and all three versions are lurking in fiscal 2008 - any time after April this year.

We had previously expected the first-person shooter sequel in the early stretch of 2008, but apparently the success of Assassin's Creed has taken some pressure of the publisher, a little like a chubby person no longer sitting on you.

The original Far Cry was developed by Crysis mastermind Crytek, but the two companies parted ways leaving Ubisoft to acquire full rights to the series in 2006.

How To Solve Most of Vista's Issues

Don't worry.

This may or may not help, but it should help. There might be better ways, but you can do it all with what is on your computer now.

First of all, I am not a Vista fan or am representing Microsoft. This is true and tested.
It is my believe that every problem can be solved, WITH the right technique.

I have been asked how my Vista runs so smoothly even with just 1Gigabyte of memory or on my 3.4 Windows Index Experience old desktop machine. My answers were so-called "I have heard that..." and "Yeah, I did that before...".

Being an avid reader of ComputerActive UK, they had an amazing article early in the year that pretty much solved my Vista issues, on 3 of my computers, 2 desktops and 1 laptop, running Vista Home Premium and Ultimate.

DISCLAIMER :
No matter what version of Vista you are using, this will help tremendously. In the event of loss of data and/or information, I hold no responsibilities. Just give it a try, if you think it won't help, its up to you.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Backup all/important data on your computer. Transfer it to your thumbdrive, burn it to DVD, etc..

*Works for Vista systems rated 3.0 and above

STEP 1
Right-click on Desktop. Select Personalize, then on Theme. Choose Windows Vista Theme. 3rd party [if any] can slow down Vista's overall performance. Changing wallpapers to your own, changing color scheme within Vista's default themes are fine.

STEP 2
Press Windows Button + R on keyboard. Type Msconfig. Now you should see Startup and Services tab. Both can be dealt the same way. Click on either one. Under Manufacturer, disable ones that are non-Microsoft.
If you really, really, want to keep some third party manufacturer, you may do so. Like mine, I don't disable Grisoft (AVG Virus scanner).

STEP 3
Restart computer when asked. Now you're in Vista again, go to IE7. Go to Tools > Delete Browsing History > Delete all. A typical basic step, but it helps.

STEP 4
Go to Computer. Then right-click on your drive (e.g C:). Then Properties > Disk Cleanup. Then select Files from all users from this computer. Select all the options to clean, and hit OK. At one time, I freed over 1Gb of hard disk space.

STEP 5
Go to Computer. Then right-click on your drive (e.g C:). Then Properties > Tools > Defragment Now. Then click on Defragment Now. This can take from half an hour to more than 5 hours. It's worth the wait.

STEP 6
Restart the computer after defragmenting (optional). Now, do Windows Update. Select all or just the important updates. Restart when done.

STEP 7
Update Video, Audio and Motherboard drivers. Update Virus Scanner virus definition (important). Run the Virus Scanner if you had not done all week. You may want to use Windows Defender too.
Another typical basic step, but it does help, especially gamers.

I did this on my cousin's Vista machine that lagged to infinity and barely could run smoothly. It was a 3.8 rated system. Turns out his hard disk is fragmented and has many, many background apps running.

FAQ :

Q : Will running many Windows Sidebar Gadgets slow down my Vista computer ?
A : No. In fact, the default 1st party gadgets give no particular Vista hit whatsoever. If you do use 3rd party gadgets, beware. Bugs and incorrect coding may cause sudden performance hits.

Q : I did all of the above steps, and my Vista is still the same. What can I do now ?
A : Closing more background applications may help. If problem still persists, perhaps you need to do hard disk error checking. Go to Computer > Right-click drive > Properties > Tools > Error checking > Check now. Tick both the options. You may need to restart computer so that the scanning can be done before Vista loads.

If problem still persists (lag, slowdowns, programs crashing for no reason, etc.), check your hardware for any problems.

Q : This is not going to work. Vista is just hopeless. Now what, go back to XP ?
A : If you still believe Vista will not work you no matter what, you can safely return to using your computer in Windows XP. After all, its the end user's choice.

Q : Games play slower in Vista, or they don't work at all. Why and how to solve ?
A : Check compatibility. You can always try running with Compatibility Mode. Right-click game icon (on desktop preferably), then Properties > Compatibility tab. Here you can choose a vast number of options. Experiment with them. I found that using Compatibility Mode and Privilege Level works for older applications.

As for games being slower in Vista, its more significant to those using mid-range and low-end machines. It is a fact that Vista is more taxing on the hardware side.

Q: I know these steps. Can I do more advanced tweaking and tinkering?
A : As far as I know, these steps will pretty much do the trick. It "cleanses" your computer. If you do want more advanced steps, you can go here :

Q : How often should I run Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter?
Disk Cleanup (and deleting browser history) should be done daily, at the end of your computer usage.
Disk Defragmenter should be done weekly. Doing it daily is not wise, as even a simple startup of Vista can fragment a few files that you shouldn't be too bothered about. Virus scanning should be done weekly too.

Q : Why are you doing this? Its more like a Noobies Guide to Vista.
A : Because I have (thus far) helped many with Vista issues. Those that eventually came down to not having a good hardware to play games, are the ones I could not help, but to tell them to upgrade.
Like I said, this may or may not help, but it should help.

Widescreen LCD Monitor for Xbox 360

Had second thoughts about opening this thread. But anyways.. You are most welcomed to refer me to another site, thread, etc. just help me out

First of all, I am new to the Xbox 360 gaming scene.

Second of all, I have not received my Xbox 360 Elite from Gamers Hideout. It seems they called me when they had stock but I didn't pickup the phone, hence they put me on the next waiting list batch; due in January 08.

Third of all, I am looking for an LCD display for my Xbox 360. I have a Dell 19" display that supports upto 1280x1024. Non-widescreen. The problem is, I want something that supports upto 1920x1080.

I have the Dell 2707WFP on my mind... RM2,999 . But that's fine, if I can pay my dad instalment every 12 months since I'm buying the console with my hard-earned student money.

Fourth of all, what does this mean?

Does it have HDMI (for use with the Xbox 360 Elite) ?

Or any other LCD display that you could recommend me? Budget, well, err...just let me know what you think I should get.
Or just stick with my 19" display?
