Second Penang Bridge to be completed by July

PENANG: The road tarring, lighting and road signages on the Second Penang Bridge are expected to be completed by July, says Jambatan Kedua Sdn Bhd (JKSB).

Its senior manager for Package 1, Azmi Mohamed said they were undertaken by China Harbour and Engineering Construction Ptd Ltd (CHEC).

CHEC is the contractor for the Package 1 works covering main navigation span and substructure.

"The advantages of the Second Penang Bridge compared to the first bridge was the dedicated motorcycle lane," he said after a visit to the Second Penang Bridge from Batu Maung to Batu Kawan on the mainland, here.

The media group was the first to experience crossing the bridge via vehicles before the testing and commissioning process take place in August and officially open to the public in September.

The journey took about 30 minutes at the proposed speed limit of 80 km/h.

It is understood that the Second Penang Bridge would use light-emitting diode (LED) system and the view will be similar to South Korea's Incheon Bridge which showcases seasonal lighting colours.

The bridge is 98% complete while the whole project is 94% complete.

The 24-km long Second Penang Bridge, of which 16.9km is above water, will be the longest bridge in Southeast Asia and also in the world using high damping rubber bearing (HDRB).

The design of the HDRB was by Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre at Brickendonbury, UK a laboratory under the Malaysian Rubber Board.

SINGAPORE - Major Chinese dailies reported that some 30 pictures of a woman posing nude in front of several Singapore landmarks have surfaced on the Internet.

In the series of photographs, the woman's face was blurred out but her chest and private parts were exposed.

She also made seductive gestures.

The news reports stated that the pictures were taken at several places of interest in the republic such as the National Orchid Garden and the riverside.

Some netizens accused her of being shameless, while others believed that the pictures were doctored.
