[Sharing] Brand vs cheap LED light bulb

LED light bulb is a hot topic, and just like compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL), it become de-factor choice of light when renovate a new house.

I am interested in light bulb, and had spent sometime to study the different technology and information about it. Anyway,I am not expert, just the information might useful.

If you are like me, you will know the price different for LED light bulb from big brands like Philips, Osram, Samsung, Panasonic vs China local brand. I not mean all China brand are bad, just those selling cheap with bad circuit design are bad. There are good local China brand that use good technology and material to product quality LED light bulb.

This is an example of bad AC-DC driver circuit design. Basically it feed AC through a rectifier (diode bridge) and pass capacitors + resistors to step down the voltage to feed to your LED serial circuit.

This is an example of standard AC-DC driver, where it use a transformer to step-down the 110/240 AC to 12V / 19V / 24V range, then pass through a rectifier and follow by capacitors & resistors to smooth the output DC.

In developing....

Last update: Mar 2013

No Camera phone at workplace, workaround needed.

Hi all,
There are a lot of factory / workplace that not allow visitors/worker to bring in camera phone. As we know, there are not much choice for phone without camera, except those basic phone. To enjoy features like wifi, qwerty keypad, it will come with camera, for sure.

I know there is blackberry without camera version in US, but it is very hard to find in Malaysia.

There is alternative way to "remove" the camera from detect by x-ray scanning machine, example remove it via de-solder the camera module from phone. This will void warranty, and look like no turning back option (in case change job and camera phone allow.. )

Is that a way to put / stick some material to cover the camera phone, and make it undetectable from x-ray scanning machine?

Or they just care about Nokia handset sell from local authorize retail only?

Hope anyone who aware of this may share your experience. How do they charge?
I did sent my set to local phone shop, but they just can do very basic fix like change part, or normal firmware upgrade only.

Dell Mini 10 / 10v owner

Netbook is a trend, if you alway on the go, you will find a typical laptop is heavy to bring around, and the battery life is not so good.
Netbook is a good solution, if you not really need high performance, and only typical browsing and checking email.

Windows 7 is pretty good, fast booking time, fast shut-down time, so far my experience with Window 7 is quite happy, although mini 10 come with 1GB and 1.66GHz only. Do anyone tried Mac OS (http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) install on the netbook? Or a Ubuntu?

I found the antivirus eat up a lot of performance of the mini 10. If with Mac OS, an antivirus might not necessary.......... please share more on your experience, or the app you still a must to install on netbook.

No Network Access with Maxis
To duplicate it:
Go to setting -> phone -> operator selection -> manual
Let it scan all the network. If you are on Maxis simcard, just select to enter Celcom line, and Digi line, it will prompt no network access error. Then try to enter Maxis again, and you are unable to log to maxis network anymore. No matter you do restore to factory default or power off and take out simcard and it won't help.
You need power-on your simcard at other phone, and swap back to your phone and it will back to normal.
