I'm planing to extend my existing house.
However, I also heard that the price for construction materials has been going up significantly.

Anyone knows how bad is it?
Is it wise to start the renovation project now or shall we wait when the supply chain is back to normal?

My usual electrician has started to charge 30% higher price for pulling a new power point claiming the wire cost has almost double up.
True?

Hi,

My contractor has started my house extension project.

Does anyone know how to differentiate BS and CQ rebar for column visually?
I requested for minimum Y12BS but they may be using Y10CQ to reduce cost.
I can measure the diameter but how to differentiate BS or CQ?

Also, what is the minimum requirement for concrete slab wire mesh size? I was quoted with BRC A10. How to verify?

I hope these questions can help other formers too.
Safety first.

Recently come across this:
https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/202...ing-mco/1859224

What are G1 and G2 grades?
Does this apply to conventional house renovation contractors?

There may be many questions on how to start.
If contractors cannot start, how they and the workers can survive for living cost?
Even if they can, there may be many blockers like building material shops, approval from management (strata), complaints from neighbor, approval to move workers (if they are illegal), subcontractors (electrician, wireman) ...

Any insider information here?

I'm look for hidden door with partition for my walk-in wardrobe.
One company quoted me RM150 psf for single side.
I expected wall is about 8'x9' = 72sf.

That will lead to RM10.8k.
Is this the normal price for such thing?

I feel that is an insanely high price.
Anyone has trusted vendor with reasonable price for such work?

Like this.

Uncommon Toilet Rough-In size

I have an old house built with the uncommon 14-inch toilet rough-in for upper floor of double story link house.

Current WC market is flooded with model 10-inch and some 12-inch but hardly see anything with 14-inch.
This makes the choices extremely limited to find a design I like.
I wish to get a basic toilet with smooth bottom like this for easy cleaning:

Some options in mind:

1. Get a 12-inch rough-in WC and use offset adapter.
* WC design is still limited.
* 1-inch adapter will leave a gap at wall.
* 2-inch adapter will need minor floor hack and potentially causing clogging. Is it true?

2. Make a platform at the back with concealed cistern. Then get those back-to-wall WC.

3. Relocate toilet flange. Anyone did this before? And what is the cost?

Anyone had such experience this and what was your take?

How to complain to TMnut

I have been suffering the slow connection since 2-3 months ago (Max 10KB/s download speed for HTTP). Complaining through the 1300 line over 10 times and email over 3 times but they never fix my problem.

Now, I have a more severe problem. My streamyx will be disconnected during the night time starting from about 7pm. This problem has been here since last week. Complaining to the customer care line again over 3 times but nothing is fixed.

I also asked for telekom people to check for my phone line condition. They claimed that there isn't any problem. Weird thing here, I called the telekom only 1 time, a technician came to check for my problem in the next day. However, I called the TMnut for over 10 times since 2-3months ago, nobody came to fix my problem.

Any suggestions/comments to let them do their tasks?

Importing Chinese Audibles Into English Ym

The following methods show you how to import a chinese audibles (HK, TW or CN) into your English version of Yahoo! Messenger. This method is created for those who want to have the chinese Audibles list in their English interface YM.

Steps:

1.
Install an English copy of YM into your computer at default path. (e.g c:\program files\Yahoo!\Messenger)

2.
Install a HK/TW/CN version of YM (only choose 1, HK version is highly recommended) into your computer at different path. (e.g c:\program files\Yahoo!\MessengerHK)

p/s: The installation process is in chinese word, sometimes the words may not be readable if you don't use chinese windows or don't enable the chinese unicode language settings. Don't worry. Pls uncheck all installation options available. You need to install the messenger only.

3.
Open your HK/TW/CN version of YM, login with your account. Then send one audible to any of your friend. Then, sign out the YM.

4.
Go to the HK/TW/CN version of YM "cache" directory in the installation directory (e.g c:\program files\Yahoo!\MessengerHK\cache). Choose the "audiblemenu.xml" file.

5.
Copy the "audiblemenu.xml" file to the "cache" directory in the "English" YM installation directory (e.g c:\program files\Yahoo!\Messenger\cache) .

6.
Now, you may run the English YM and test for your Audibles.

Notes:
1. HK version of YM is recomended in this integration because it includes the HK, TW and English version of audibles.

If anyone had any method better than mine, please share together. Thank you and enjoy.
