Redirected to hotmail?

hi there, need some help.

I can't seem to visit the lowyat.net forum from my laptop.
Every time I click on my bookmark or type in forum.lowyat.net in the address bar of my browser and I get redirected to hotmail.com's sign in page.

I've tried using both http and https but none of them seem to work; I've also tried using firefox and IE and the same problem persists.

This problem doesn't seem to be affecting my cellphone as I'm using it now to post this message.

Could this mean that my laptop had been hacked or infected by some sort of trojan/virus?

Please advise. Many thanks.

Soundcard Problem

Here's my problem:

Whenever I log into Windows, the startup sound does not appear. I checked the volume controls and I found out that my options for the controls were greyed-out. Device manager shows that my soundcard is working fine though.
Enclosed is the pic from my control panel.

If I try to play mp3s from Winamp, the song will not play.
If I try to play system sounds from 'Sounds and Audio Devices" in the control panel, no sound can be heard.
If I try to play any audio or video file using Windows Media Player, again there is no sound.

In addition, sometimes whenever I hibernate my system and on it again, the whole system lags horribly. The mouse cursor moves in slow motion, moving-freezing-moving... just like playing a laggy computer game (you get the idea)... And the whole system will not work, not even Ctrl-Alt-Del can reboot it and I have to press the power button to shut it down.

No viruses, no spyware of any detected as well, so it probably isn't due to these 2 pests.

Any solutions, please?

Thanks in advance.

Alternatives to Blogspot

I am thinking of changing my blog from blogspot to some other blog providers, and my friend suggested wordpress...

Just want to ask, does wordpress has any other advantages over blogspot besides having more themes? More importantly, can I transfer the entire contents of my current blogspot blog to wordpress, retaining all my previous posts, comments, etc?

not sure whether here's the right place to ask or not... if not mod kindly shift is to the appopriate thread.

thanks in advance

NO DIAL TONE WITH ADSL MODEM

I've a problem with my modem (Aztech ADSL USB Modem), and I seriously need help with it.

I connected my adsl modem to my laptop, hoping to establish streamyx connection; and after installing the required drivers, the modem is detected by windows.

Yet there is no dial tone whenever i try to dial for connection. The ADSL led on the modem is unlit as well, meaning there is no ADSL line available.

The weird thing is that the modem works absolutely fine with my desktop in my hometown, the problem only occurs with my laptop. I have no other connections like LAN or WiFi connected, so it probably isn't a conflict between connections.

Previously the modem worked fine with my laptop the last time I brought it back to my hometown, but now the problem starts.

I've tried reinstalling the modem drivers, following every step in the manual, and also ensured that the connection settings is the same as those that I've used previously.

I have no idea what is the problem... The modem can't be spoilt as I can use it with my desktop, and also my laptop can detect it as well. It's just the absence of the dial tone I suppose.

Is there any way to fix it? My friend suggested reformating my laptop, but I simply cannot do that as there are too many important documents and files in my HD, and the process is too troublesome.

Thanks in advance for any advice...
