I am asking this on behalf of my sis as I don't know much about medical degree.

My sis graduated in National University of Taiwan, completed her housemanship(General Practice) in Taiwan, as well as completed all her examination in neurology. She is currently working as a Neurologist in Taiwan and wishes to move back Malaysia.

As you all aware, doctors are extremely busy. Hence, I am here to dig more info for her.

Any sifu here can guide me where should I start from? Basically, I need to gather these information:

1) The requirements for housemanship for a specialist from Taiwan.
2) Any additional examination needed for her qualification.
3) [Optional] Salary range for a neurologist.
4) [Optional] Any local institute actively involved in brain cancer research.

Identify Ori and AP for Tablet

I plan to purchase Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 (3G version) but I am uncertain whether the seller will sell me an Ori or AP product. Unlike phone, we can check the hologram sticker at the battery and cross-check the IMEI number. What about tablet? I can't open the back cover of the tablet.

Any 'Sifu' can advice me on this matter?

Is it safe to spinning Hard Drive momentarily?

Recently, I installed a 2TB HDD as a data drive and declare as GPT. Since it is a data drive, I access the data frequently. The HDD spins whenever I opens a file then stops spinning after awhile. Does spinning up then stop frequently reduces the HDD's lifespan?

Also, the HDD spin up sound is noticeable in a quiet room. Is it due to the momentum of all the platters?

I have a ASUS P8P67 motherboard, an old 320GB HDD, and a spare 1TB Seagate HDD. Both of my HDD are connected to the 6Gbps SATA Intel controller. Just for curiosity, I initialize the 1TB HDD to GPT and installed a ubuntu inside. When I enter the boot tab in the advanced UEFI settings, I can see the 1TB HDD name there. Sadly under the boot priority, there is no such option for my 1TB HDD. I forcefully boot using the boot menu, but it revert back to my Windows 7 in the old HDD. Anyone face the same problem??

Can't boot Ubuntu on GPT formatted Hard disk

My desktop is equipped with ASUS p8p67 motherboard which supports UEFI. I installed a new Hard drive on that rig and an Ubuntu. That hard drive was initialized to GPT format. Weird thing is I can't change the boot sequence to my new hard drive in the UEFI basic setting. Even if I purposely change the setting at the UEFI Advance Config, the computer can't find it then revert back to Windows 7 in the old hard drive.
Did I commit any mistake here?

I have a very old desktop PC back in 2005 or 2006.

Here is the spec:
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Motherboard: ASUS <Unknown>
RAM: 4 x 500MB DDR RAM
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT
Casing: CoolerMaster PRAETORIAN
Power Supply: ACBEL 500W ATX-500CA-AB8FM (Broken)

I need to upgrade this old old PC. My ideal budget is RM1800 but my maximum budget is RM3000.

The upgrade have to be done before March 2011. I usually use this PC for gaming, simple CAD simulation, simple CAD design, programming. Hence the processor and ram are the most important components to me.

I have done some reading these few days. Here is what I have in mind.

Processor: i5 2500K - RM 725
Heatsink: CoolerMaster Hyper TX3 - RM69
Motherboard: Asus P8P67 PRO - RM 699

This is the first time I choose desktop parts. Hopefully the sifus out there can advice me any mistake I overlook.

Also, I plan to overclock the i5 processor. I think the hardware are correct.

I gonna purchase anti-virus for my family's 6 computer. 3 for desktop, 1 for laptop, and 2 for netbook.

I searched AV-Comparatives and narrow down my search to F-Secure Internet Security 2010 and BitDefender Internet Security 2010. I never use both software before and not sure whether they will slow down my sister's netbook too much.

I heard both softwares had improved their engine to become more efficient. Can anyone here advice me about this.

Need help entering Singapore by Car

I need to fetch my sister to singapore at the 23 Aug 09. We are moving some of her luggage there because she gonna work there as a doctor. We usually travel by airplane. Hence I am a bit unsure what I need to prepare.

I searched some other website and they recommend me the Tuas Checkpoint for less jam and to get the 'SGD5.00 ERP Day Scheme'. It seems I need to pay RM8 to enter Singapore and I need to buy a SGD 10.00 Autopass Card. If I enter singapore on weekends, do I need to pay for VEP? Which form I need to fill up and which form I need to fill up for my mom's car?

Obviously I need to bring my passport. I am not sure I need to bring any other documents. Can anyone help me in this?

All about Graphics Tablets and Pen Tablets

2 days ago, I saw Wacom Bamboo Fun and Wacom Intuos 4 in the IT Hyperstore at The Curve. At that time, I know nothing about the existence of Graphics Tablet. Hence, I have been surfing the web and plan to get a cheap version of Wacom for taking notes and 3D drafting in class.

Here is what I found out. I saw 2 cheap brand called LaPazz and XP-Pen. Both of them are made in Taiwan but XP-Pen was develop in Japan. Both company's products are very similar in price, out look, and spec. In fact, I suspect both company's product are identical. The only thing different about them are the packaging box and the printed brand label on the casing.

Now I am very confuse who is the wholesaler and who is the retailer.

I am a noob in computer hardware and have been doing some reading around the web. I am now very confuse by the massive variety of notebooks available. I need some help to narrow down my search.

Minimum Usage Requirement:
1) Internet
2) Word Processing
3) Programming (C++, PLC, Altera, Crimson Editor, Matlab)
4) Basic Circuit Design & Simulation (Circuitmaker, Altium Designer, Eagle)

Optional Usage Requirement:
1) 3D Drafting (Autodesk Inventor, AliasStudio, SolidEdge)
2) Basic Photo Editing (Photoshop)

Budget: RM3000 or below (only for the laptop with no modification)

I don't expect to run 3D Drafting with this low budget but my old desktop computer with AMD Athlon 64 2.0GHz with 2GB RAM can run Inventor smoothly. Hence I believe if I can get a laptop with a processor better or equal to AMD Athlon 64, I will upgrade the ram of that laptop to 8GB and see whether it can take it or not. Most of my application are CPU intensive, not GPU intensive.

Getting a notebook using debit card

Recently I found there is a need for me to get a notebook. Is it hard for me to use the campus computers because the computers are always fully book by others. I did plan to save money to get one but I realized it gonna take me a few months before I can have it. Hence I decided to go for the installment plan. Since I am a student, I can't own a credit card. I don't want to borrow my parent's credit card because they will feel I am wasting money.
I do have a debit card but I am not sure whether the salesman will accept it. Can anyone advice me in this?
