APC UPS has compatibility issue with XPS Desktops

I bought a APC UPS RS 1100VA to "protect" my PC , Dell XPS 8300

However, things gone pretty fishy whenever i press the power button of my PC. Power button lights on as if gonna start-up & then will gone off. Weird, as if the computer dies off by itself.
& then only my PC will start-up after that, without me pressing the power button again....
I able to use my PC after start-up without interruption.

weird, y such thing happens?

I called APC, they said it's due to my XPS desktop is "too high-end" and it's power factor corrected, the ups "cannot support" my PC, & long term usage will do harm to my PC. They said must buy APC smart SUA range of UPS for my "high-end" desktop

IS THAT TRUE????

DELL laptop screen problem

My DELL laptop model is Inspiron 6000, I bought it in October 2005.
It was apparently well until one year ago, when my laptop keep got the blue screen of death (BSOD)
Then , I went to buy new cooler pad & even formatted my computer a few times.
It became well after it but then my screen will have some flickers or lines
It used to be seldom but progress in months to quite frequent
The problem became worse when my screen appeared to be garbled at times but it dun last more than one minute

All these problems will self-resolved. Almost everyday my screen will have that problem but it is still bearable.

However, a few days ago, it became worse than ever, I can hardly see my screen as the screen appeared to be garbled. The top half was gone while the bottom one appeared to be cramped with weird lines & colors.

I have contacted DELL customer service twice but then they didnt give me a call after promising will ask someone for me. But they did say that with rm585 to extended the expired warranty, I can have my problems fixed.

Is it worth to fix it or just buy a new laptop?

hope u guys able to give some suggestions! thank u!
