W XXXX A plate number really so "hot"?

I went to JPJ yesterday evening and the fella told me to maybe come back on Friday instead if I want W XXXX A. Luckily I checked online today and knew it reached W XXXX A this morning. Got my waiting number and waited for my turn. Reached my turn I went to the counter with a few numbers and it's possible combinations which I'm ok with (probably around 20+ numbers). I admit, some of of the numbers probably are "hot" numbers. However, the person who served me, just told me straight

JPJ : nombor2 semua ni dah habis... kena tender punya...
Me : err, tapi awak tak check dalam sistem lagi *points to a few number which I think might not be common or hot number* yang ni pun dah habis?
JPJ : tak jalan hari ni.. tak de list. you fikir la.. nombor 2XXX-9XXX..
Me : tapi nombor yang saya bagi tu, punya banyak start dgn 2 dan 9.. tak tau nak start dari mana..
JPJ : tak de tak de.. you fikir la..nanti balik tak payah beratur..
Me : Ok ok..

After 15 mins of thinking and discussing with family, I came up with another list of numbers and possible combinations acceptable.. (maybe around 40+)

JPJ : ish susah la nombor macam ni.. i tak rasa ada.. *she keys in 3-4 times*.. betul.. memang tak de..

I just left with the feeling of frustration.. I gave her so many numbers.. she didnt really check and she just said no... I asked for whatever number available so that I can pick from there... there's no such list.. how the hell am I suppose to pick a number without knowing what's left and without knowing whether she really checked if my numbers are available or not?? Or they just wanted me to deal with a runner? grrrrr.. it's so frustrating..

I've lost all my contacts.. HELP!

Hi,

I've recently just lost all my contacts on my iphone (i.e. not sure what was the reason).. i tried to open some apps and these apps kept crashing.. so i thought i'll just power off and restart.. after i restarted my iphone, all my contacts are gone.. i still have all my messages, mails etc.. just not my contacts...

So i tried to sync with my itunes which should have my contacts.. and hope that it will put back all my contacts into my phone.. next thing i know, it's a BAD MOVE..when it sync.. it overwrites the back up on my comp and deleted all my contacts in the backup as well.. now i'm left with no contacts on both my phone and comp.. is there any other way to retrieve all my contact?? =(

no i didnt back them up in icloud.. thought my comp will be sufficient.. zzz

thanks!!

Credit Card Scam?

Hi peeps,

I just got a call from a guy speaking Malay, claiming himself to be from some company (Gateway Securities/System or something) overseeing Visa and Mastercard in Malaysia and giving away "VIP cards" which will allow me to enjoy discount up to 30% in hotels, restaurants etc in Malaysia.

As normal, he asked for my verification etc, from my card expiry date to my card number. Fine. I confirmed with him. Up until the point which he asked me to flip my card back and confirm my 3 digit security code.

I was reluctant to give him the 3 digits claiming that it's a private info and it's not secure for me to let him know. He tried to convince me to let him know the 3 digit codes and said that my maiden name is also needed for online transactions etc so i dun need to worry bout him misusing my info.He can give me his company phone no. and call him up to ensure he's "real". I mean, how can that be a way to ensure that he's for real? i'm not even sure if he shows up in person and show up whatever identification.

Usual confirmations (as i know) for credit card is maiden's name or IC no. FFS, i'm not even paying anything for the card. Do they need my security code confirmation?? I, being snobbish as usual, said "I can live without the discount card, no thanks and goodbye". He then didn't push further and said bye. Conversation ended.

The weirdest part is, although i spoke to him back in English+Malay (showing that i'm more comfortable using English to converse instead of Malay), he just stick to using Malay and i questioned a company who hire a person who can only converse in Malay to do telemarketing. Plus the background was noisy like some rojak company. Telemarketing calls are supposed to be quiet and sounds like no other ppl is listening to ur conversation.

So if anybody got any calls like this, please share your experience or you also can discuss my situation and see whether i'm just being over sensitive. We might also be able to share information on how to safeguard our credit card info. I confirmed my card number and expiry date. It's not sufficient for fraudsters to do anything to my card, right?
