[USING MY FRIEND'S ACCOUNT TO POST THIS]

Got a J41 job! I'm grateful that I'm to get a gov job offer.

Just got a call from the HR department of Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (not JKR ) : Told me I'd get a posting letter soon, but when I asked the HR officer of the kind of work i would be doing, he said: "bro, kerja u ialah maintenance of elevators and lifts in hospitals.."

I'm not so worried about the salary as I am about the kind of work I'd actually be doing. So I think the HR officer was just giving a textbook answer and not properly explaining to me what I'd be doing.. With my current job in a Consultant firm, I'm actually over-loaded with all kinds of work - from detailed design, to management, to business development- all sorts of stuff- but the downside is that this Consultant does not pay for my PDP (professional development program) training, and really doesn't pay well either.

Factors which will influence my decision to move to Public / stay in Private :
1) Will I actually be doing "maintenance" or would I be able to be involved in actual design engineering, yada yada? (Note: I'm not going to be assigned to JKR but KKM) Personally, I get satisfaction from learning stuffand I heard that in the government you get to go for training- in fact they'd be more than willing to send you places for training. Is this true?

2) Job security- private sector can kick you out anytime, but everyone seems to assume the government will keep you in service.

3) Pension security - How can you even be sure your pension is secure, let alone your KWSP money. We're just presuming that in about 20 plus yrs when we retire, government will faithfully give money to you?

4) I'm a non-bumi, so I'm worried about the whole "you-aint-us-so-you-wont-go-high". Myth or Reality?

Isn't Behringer a bad brand with sketchy quality control?
Previously when Behringer begun to outsource their products to OEM factories in China, little did they know that the majority of the Chinese vendors, when they said "MO Mantai" is of little significance. Thus begun an era when prices were not an issue, as they substituted components for cheaper ones and as a result the quality of the products suffers. Those were the pre 2002. After receiving enough complaints, they decided to set up their own factory in China and take reins of the QC by basing themselves in China. Thus from then onwards the QC of behringer products have improved significantly.

Mostly black with shades of grey, the BEHRINGER HPX4000 DJ headphones wrapped around our head securely with the ruggedly constructed headband. The round swiveling ear cups secured the music to our ears very easily, yet did not apply too much pressure. They prevented too much atmospheric sound from getting in and ensured clean listening. The high definition bass and transparent highs were apparent from the instant we put them on, and offered an impressively high dynamic range. The headphones came with a single-sided coiled cord using oxygen-free copper wires attached to left ear cup. The cord length was about 1m in a corkscrew curl but could unwind close to 2.5m.

Hi, previously my threads were in the [Audio Related Accessories], but since [Musical Instruments] was opened, some of my threads were shifted there. Can you shift my threads back to Audio related Accessories because I doubt the items which I am selling has much to relate with musical instruments. Thanks.

Btw I am selling audio equipments such as eq's, monitors (speakers), microphones and such. So I think my classification is closer towards audio related accessories than instruments.

Before we digress further, we should understand that the term dj = disc jokey which means anyone whom is able to sequence the flow of songs for other people other than themselves. Which happens to be my recognition point of being a dj. Which means that you can even use a vcd player, tapes, or any other media to play pre-recorded music to your audience, may it be the one friend you have in your room with you. That would essentially qualify you as a dj as well.

But then what really makes those club dj's and those promotional "IMAGES" portrayal dj's different than an "average joe" dj manning some i-pod for friends? I guess that would be having the ability to manipulate further than the programming of songs in some certain sequence. With beatmixing being the primary set of skills a dj use, so that in order not to stop or disrupt the flow of energy when playing music for the audience. But then again coming from feedback of other dj's, it might not be only factor which helps as a catalyst for non disruption of energy flow. Then again "energy flow" is a subjective measure and phrase that cannot be measured by any means of conventional units. What are the other common set of skills then? That might include the skill of beat-juggling, scratching, phasing, key-mixing and many more.

THE 3 MEDIAS

1)Vinyl

This would require a DIRECT DRIVE turntable and decent torque to keep the platter spinning while manipulation is done. This is also would be the most "traditional" media that dj's would dj on. This might look like the most simplest media which a dj can manipulate pre-recorded music on (needle on platter + spinning of platter), but there are some skill sets that a dj might be able to perform using a turntable and not with any other media. Which would be scratching, drumming, beat-juggling and etc. The amount of tourque might be a subjective issue as some dj's prefer a whole lot more like 5kg's or some would be just satisfied by 1.2kg's or torque. Do note that in this category, this format would be the preferable format of turntablist. Which a turntablist is essential what I would identify to as a performer that does heavy manipulation of vinyls for about 6mins for the purposes in a competition. That includes scratching, juggling, drumming and many more. Things that you might also want to look out for when choosing to dj in this category would be the wow and flutter, which basically means the percentage deviation of platter rotations which can can be influential to the speed the song is being played. Why is this important? Suppose that your turntable drifts by 1mm per revolution, that would mean within a couple more of revolutions the turntable would be completely out of sync with the other song when in a mix. This would cause "train-wrecks" in mixes. So when choosing a turntable, make sure that the wow and flutter is low enough.
2)CD's

This is a media primarily used in the 199X - PRESENT. Due to the limitation that a the vinyls faces like the lack of proper mastering, the fidelity and the resolution of music quality, space and many more, dj's have switched from the traditional format of djing with vinyls to djing with cd's. With cd's there are some manipulations that a dj can do which a traditional turntable is not able to do. which is in terms of the areas in looping, cue points storage, effects and many more. Then also, some might argue that the abilities of analogue turntable cannot be emulated on cdj's (a professional dj cd deck), which this again is based on the personnel preference of the dj. Another important note when choosing this cd player is to make sure that the cd player is able to start and stop immediately. Why is that important? Although 2 songs may be in perfect speed, matching them up with a lagged response cd deck would be a nightmare because if both tracks do not align themselves on bars and phrase it would still be a train wreck.

Yes. Provided you add a potentiometer circuitry to vary the speed being played. Also make sure the cd player can start and stop instantaneously.
But the circuit would be rather complex as you will have to add some ram or cache sort of memory to enable the data read to be stored and thus acts as a buffer to manipulate the audio to relay into the output. This is why the cdj decks are expansive because the circuitry are expansive.

By definition of mixing, mixing music can consist of many different kinds of mixing. Just that beatmixing is a subset of mixing. Well you can perform fades. track slamming and etc. SO suppose that you are mixing which doesn't include the part of beatmixing, 2 normal radios or cd players will suffice.
Well, sometimes in commercial/ corporate gigs, I do not need the capabilities of loops and pitch.

3)Digital Media (mp3, wav, aac and whatever else donkey format you have)

Although when I say MP3, one might argue that the burning of CD's in MP3 format would make that applicable in this sub heading as well. Well the differentiating point when I say this would be the chosen method of manipulation. With the earlier ones, a vinyl would be played on a turntable, a cd would be played on a cd deck and a mp3 file would in this case be played on the computer. Well there are plenty of softwares that enables a user to manipulate pre-recorded songs on a computer, one can use a mouse and a keyboard to get the job done or opt for some midi controller which acts as a control for the software. One way to put this into perspective is by the use of a dance mat to play DDR or a steering wheel + pedals to play a racing game. Midi controllers are just like the designated game controllers which helps you manipulate the game better. You still will be able to grand turismo with your normal controller but its better to use a steering wheel. But then again, whatever that suits you.

Previously when Behringer begun to outsource their products to OEM factories in China, little did they know that the majority of the Chinese vendors, when they said "MO Mantai" is of little significance. Thus begun an era when prices were not an issue, as they substituted components for cheaper ones and as a result the quality of the products suffers. Those were the pre 2002. After receiving enough complaints, they decided to set up their own factory in China and take reins of the QC by basing themselves in China. Thus from then onwards the QC of behringer products have improved significantly.

Problem details
Okay, all along, I have been using the aztech dsl-600eu modem for my internet, but latetly i wanted a wireless solution, so i bought the modem from lowyat to use with the belkin router. My connection is fine with my aztech modem, but when trying to set up the pci modem, i cant set it up together with the belkin since the pci modem is also acting as a router. In fact i cant even use the pci modem standalone. Yes i have read the pci modem manual, but the pci modem is so complex in its configuration as in you even have to set up a static ip to go in the config of the pci modem. i did all the quick setup of the pci modem as instructed in the manual but still cant use the pci modem even in a standalone mode. so guys, how do i use the pci modem to act as a modem and to disable its routing features and instead use the belkin to act as the router? and how do i use the pci modem in the first place? how to set up a wireless solution with both the pci and the belkin.

Philips SHL9600 headphones review

I just got my new headphones today, which I ordered from Davis. For this I would want to thank Davis on behalf of the speedy delivery and allowing me to change my order last minute from a Panasonic RP-DJ100 to this Philips SHL9600. Davis is a good trader which allowed me to change order last minute. Well I am not suggesting that you guys out there do the same but I want to point this out which Davis is kind enough to let me change the orders.

Just to give you a little background on my current headphones collection and what I have listen to so far,
My main headphone: Sennheiser HD205
Main General Purpose Headphones: Phlips SHP2500
Other headphones: Creative ep-630, Sennheiser PXC150
Other headphones not belonging to me which I have listen to: Sennheiser HD280 pro, Sennheiser CX300, Sennheiser HD25, Audio Techica ATH-M30, Audio Technica ATH-M50, AKG STUDIO K-271, Beyer Dynamic DT 770 PRO and a few others which I probably cant think of now.

Just to give you guys also a little bit of a background on my self to make sure that you guys would not brush this review of as a reviewer with no creditability and therefore not trustworthy enough to listen to. BUT PLS TAKE THIS REVIEW WITH A PINCH OF SALT, meaning that what I conclude, decide and feel should not be the ultimate judging factor for your next purchase of headphones as what my ears may like, does not mean that you are complied to follow my taste. It’s all based on personal preferences. If you guys want to buy a new set of cans, please go and listen to it yourself, then ultimately decide on your own likings and dislikes. Build Quality
The headphones although classified as a pair of Dj headphones, it doesn't look like it is build to withstand harsh treatment in the industry where we would pull on and off the headphones for quite a number of time a night and also to make that rather infamous 1-ear monitoring cup thing where we will stress and probably distort the headband and the ear cup joints to put only 1 side of the cup on our ears. Taking into account of the hugely successful Sony MDR-V700DJ as probably one of the former industry standard (but doesn't mean that its good) always breaks at its ear-cup swivel joint on the basis that many dj's report that this occurrence is rather common, the SHL9600 has a smaller joint than the Sony's albeit being less complicated (lower complexity should be better) seems okay but need to be treated gently. Other than the construction of the joints, I think the rest of the headphone construction are pretty much okay.

Initial Sound Impressions
Although not burn in yet, the pair of headphones have a smooth spread in freq response and a non-bloated mid-bass sound signature unlike the HD-205, which a hump in the mid-bass will highlights the synthesized kick drums which is a plus point for djing purposes. The freq response extends proportionately into the sections of the sub bass. But it has accentuated mids about 3-5k hertz, I think. I hope the freq response would be smoother after the burn-in. The SHL9600 has an impressive sound-stage and is not like the HD205 in your face kind of sound signature. But these are initial impressions on the headphones. When the burn in of +100 hours is done I will edit this post and add more in-depth review. Stay tuned for the full review.
