Core 2 Duo E8600 or Q9400 ?

Hey guys,

need to make a quick decision. What this rig will be using for is onling gaming, RA3 or probably some FPS.. but not much.. mostly RTS and online gaming. There will be internet surfing, chatting, voice communication running at the same time the game runs.. but no heavy graphic design stuff going on..

so I was thinking of either E8600 or Q9400 .. what are the difference, in terms of performance.. as both have similar price range..

New Gaming Rig Recommendation

Hey guys. I am currently running on a dual core 2.2ghz and 7600gs gc, gigabyte mobo, 2g ram.

I am planning to get my rig during the CNY period next year, well, its next year but its like two months from now, so i guess its time for me to get some advises and research on what I am actually looking for. I have a 22" LCD running on a second monitor which is my old one 15".. so it doesnt matter as that is just for some extra desktop space i can use.

Anyway, back to the point, I already have the screen.. what i need is just a new rig with a budget of approximately RM 3,500. I do not play FPS games but I am obsessed with WoW and pretty critical on the graphics and flow of the graphics. I do appreciate any advises and recommendations given.

Basically, what I am looking at is as follow:

1. Processor - I am looking at Quad Core. Basically i do have quite a number of programs running behind WoW.
2. RAM - I am aiming for 4gb. (well RAMS are dirt cheap unless we are talking about high end DDR3 stuff, but im open to suggestions)
3. MOBO - well frankly speaking, there are so many out there.. I have absolutely no idea.. any suggestions, greatly appreciated.
4. GC - If there are no bottlenecking issues, I am happy to go with an absolutely good one. Prolly the new HD4870 or GTX280 ? (I will keep on eye on goldfries.com's reviews, but at the mean time, any suggestions are good!)
5. Casing - Coolermaster anything good?
6. Power supply - 600W enough?

One more thing, I am leaning heavily on Vista.. so that might prolly help with the choices and I do not know anything about OC'ing.. so prolly I will stay with stock performances..

Thanks in advance..

edit: added info on OC.
edit2: RAM req reduced.

So there's free transfer from Amanthul, Nagrand and Kaz to Thaurissan offere to only Alliance.

As to date, top 5 raiding guilds from Nagrand has transferred over to Thaurissan. They are Kaos, Tribunal, Dynasty, Avarice and Knights of Blackrose. Huge change in the server economy. We shall see how it goes.

Just out of my curiosity, I would really love to meet some of the fellow Malaysians in Nagrand.

So far, really i only know a handful of them.

Hey guys,

I'm currently using some gigabyte mobo.. forgot whats that.. its been quite some time.. and a geforce 8600gs graphics card on 2g ram.

I plan to get a good gaming pc.. in 2-3 months time. I have a budget of around Rm4k without the monitor. I have a perfect monitor.. i just need a new rig.

I would like to focus on graphic quality and stability so i would like focus on performance. I checked the site from goldfries.. but i would like a second opinion. Thanks for your help..
